Hands-down, you are one of the best instructors for logic I have watched over the years. Thanks a million. Would love to see more sample alchemy tutorials. Loved the previous ones need more. thanks again for your hard work.
This is fun little playground! And it’s quite intuitive. Yeah, the slot machine move would be even more fun. Thanks, as always, for showing us stuff many of us would have passed by.
A very interesting and useful video, Jono! A nice and creative way of programming beat loops. Until now I have never done this but I certainly will give it a try!
Thank you. Yet another informative look at using Logic’s built in editing tools creatively. I always keep my eye open for each new release of your video tutorials and inevitably learn something new each time.
Another fun method that I’ve been using: take a drum loop, for this example we’ll say we grabbed a 1 bar loop from the Apple library, 4 beats for this 1 bar measure. Drag the loop into quick sampler, and in the Slice section you can choose to make the slices Beat Divisions or Equal divisions and set it where you want. I personally break it into 4 or 8 parts, then I set the playback to “play to end” and switch the samplers voicing to Mono from Polyphonic(16 voices) NOW with all of this set up, on the stem you can create a Pattern Region and start to program in your drums much like a drum machine/sequencer! 😊 there’s a ton of things you can play around with here, but that’s the most basic setup to get started

Nice. Very nice. I had been thinking of this technique recently and was imagining how cool it would be if you could allocate the Slip Tool to any parameter (lfo for example) or simply the modulation wheel on your keyboard. Apple are you listening? 😂 Thanks learned so much again!
Hi. The Slip Tool is a feature introduced in Logic 10.8, so firstly, do check that's the version you've upgraded to. If you've updated Logic but it's not 10.8, that's likely to be because you're not running Ventura (OS 13.5) or newer (including Sonoma). You'll need to upgrade your Mac's OS to be able to install Version 10.8 though do be careful with that - check that any third-party plug-ins you want to use are compatible first and do a full back up of your system. If both your OS and Logic are up to date, the only thing I can think of is that you might not have Advanced Settings enabled. Go to the Logic Pro menu > Settings and click on 'Advanced'. Tick the box to 'Enable Complete Features'. Hope all of that helps you track down the issue.
Hello! This is the Multiple-Divide feature. Select the Scissors Tool and hold down Option, whilst clicking on the first 1/8th note after the start of your region. Don’t let go of Option until after you’ve clicked on that 1/8th note! Logic will chop the file up into that division and, of course, you can select 1/16th or 1/4 notes (or any other division) instead if you prefer.
Hello Jono. The slip function has been in Logic for a few years already (10.5). Also, If you set up key commands to the nudge buttons you can quickly move left or right inside the region. A (2 yr old) video here shows this working really well. ruclips.net/video/EXqNGqywyNk/видео.html
Hi Paul. You’re absolutely right - Slipping and Nudging audio has been there for a little while. The Slip and Rotate tools are new, though, and they do provide a slightly different way to select audio within Regions. Apple have been doing this more recently - the Gain Tool is another which adds a dedicated Tool to a function which has existed for a long old time. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Many thanks for posting the link to the other video.

Thanks so much for the very kind words. Sure thing, I'm very happy to dive back into Sample Alchemy. Added to the list!
Yet another absolutely perfect educational video
So glad to hear it was helpful. Many thanks.
Dam dude this was the only thing keeping me from fully going back to logic. Thank you for this I’m fully Logic again lol
Welcome back! ; )

Thanks so much Gary, as always.
Very clever! Another excellent video which inspires further experimentation. Thank you, Jono 👍
Thanks so much, Peter.
Very useful video, thanks!
Thanks Ian, you’re most welcome!
Whoops. "I fell over" on account of the Slip Tool. Really nice techniques to keep the ideas flowing . Thanks Jono, much appreciated.
It sure is a banana skin of a feature… 😉
@@jonobuchananmusicSeriously, who falls over those. I pick 'em up and eat 'em :)
No, No I really don't :)

That’s a wonderful approach. Thanks so much for sharing it.

Wow...What a tip...I'm trippin...I can do endless combination...Thanx a trillion sir 😎🤓
Great! Thanks so much and enjoy.
amazing video
Thanks John.
nice beat!
Thank you!
Well that’s a brilliant little tool, innit?!👍🏻💯👊🏻
It sure is!

1:34 wow I didn’t even have this method figured out, I was using command+T and moving the play head to each area I wanted to slice 😂
Multiple Divide will soon be your new best friend!
Hi Jono . What would be the reason this option slip tool not be by in my tool bar .I have updated my logic and is not there .
Thanks

I would just convert to new sampler track, then play the new midi track. Then convert to audio.
Absolutely, that works too!
This works amazing for vocal slicing or instruments/sounds of that sort 😎🥷🙏🤓, also try reversing the individual regions
Absolutely - lovely to use those two functions together. Thanks for suggesting it!
❤💯
