Great suggestions for experimenting with fugal expositions. Your knowledge of Logic Pro X is DEEP and appreciated. Thanks for sharing your “division world” with us. LOL
Hi Jono, I like the way you impart knowledge. You get to the point without constantly repeating redundant information and always focused on the most practical use. Keep up the good work.
Thanks again Jono! Didn't even know this was in there! Giving me some ideas about creating complex percussion parts by duplicating a pattern across multiple instruments and using this to shift them against each other and create some interesting polyrhythms.
Trying the beat rotated to 8th notes really made it groove man! Good option to be in division mode because you an try different feels even in triplets or beyond! Thanks for the tutorial man!
Holy Moly JB -NEVER used but my oh my oh yes . Priceless for my Hardware synths when bounced as I can change the printed audio -brillant . Fantastic and as ever thank you very much ( Who Knew ......)
Within seconds of you playing the track I started hearing "Ssss....Aaaa.....Ffff......Eeee........" and so forth, felt like 1983 all over again! :) Great video, thank you!
Thank you Jono! Your explanations / demonstrations are so clear and to the point. I LOVE the summary you always include at the end of your videos - I think this is a very helpful component. I think Bach somehow had a rotate tool in his head . . .
No doubt he did! I'm just waiting for Logic to include the 'Fugue Tool' and then we'll all have our minds expanded even further... ; ) Thanks for kind words.
Hey Jono, told you I was gonna subscribe and. I meant it! Really helpful tool and one that I have never ventured to try, as I never knew what it did😂, but I am definitely going to be checking it out now,as I think it will be very useful and will speed up workflow. Thank you
Welcome and thanks for the Sub! Great - I hope you enjoy playing with this tool. And do have a look back through the other episodes - nearly 120 for you to watch... (I recommend accompanying with the drink of your choice and a fine cheese).
@@jonobuchananmusic thanks that will most definitely keep me busy for sure:-) and I am really finding your teaching style very easy to follow👍🏾 and lol I ‘ll take the advice of having a drink of my choice but will pass on the cheese😄!!
Hi Jono! I was wondering if you could do any videos for songwriters? Maybe logic workflow tips that could allow for quickly getting in the zone and getting some songs done. Another question: I compose on piano using chord progressions and then make vocal melodies after, but I can’t very well have all my songs using the same stock Yamaha grand piano instrument now can I? My question is about how to orchestrate an arrangement to make a full stereo image from a musical idea. Thanks 🙏
Hello! Thanks so much for your message and for your questions. Songwriting is always a slightly tricky subject to address, only because the word 'songwriting' means so many things to so many people. However, the first part of your question - about Logic workflow tips to facilitate creativity in a songwriting space - should absolutely be possible. Leave that with me and I'll definitely add it to the list for future episodes. And I'm certainly not ruling out videos about songwriting more broadly either - perhaps that's an extended series for this year's Summer School, as we looked at Music Theory last year? Plenty for me to think about there. As to your last question - how to orchestrate from a piano demo. Yes, this is certainly something that I think is of interest to a lot of people. Look out for news around this very topic in the coming weeks.
Thanks for the thoughtful responses. Fair point about songwriting. For my part, I think accessibility is an important factor. Some people just have the proverbial “song in their heart”, but cannot read sheet music or play with virtuosity, yet they have a simple and earnest message they want to convey. For example, “I like big butts, I cannot lie”. Those who are virtuosos tend to reach a level of being unable to commit to saying anything because they get spoiled for choice. I guess the Paul McCartney style of finding the quickest way to write a love song is what I most want to learn more about, and that will be more inclusive.
@@jonobuchananmusic Writing an album for my ex wife and found the combo really exciting, especially on melody loops, not so much on drums loops, but melody loops really take a life of their own, if you take let's say a 16 bar compilation of loops and make them all into a cohesive melody/improv kinda thing, morphing it on the first using a bit of breaker and a bit of rotating tool and so on repeats, kinda like a Steve Reich's "clapping music" it sounds like an actual improv musician riffin' on a couple loops. Add a drummer track for fills! i am having fun with this combo, thank you and I love your humour!
That syncopation 'mistake' was AWESOME. I love happy accidents. Thanks again, Jono!
Absolutely, the Rotate Tool is a great generator of happy accidents... I'm a big fan of those too. Thanks as always!
I have to say I do love the practical demonstrations of each topic!
Great, thanks very much.
Short, digestible, interesting, and useful! Thank you, thank you.
You are most welcome, welcome!
You constantly show me ways to get the most out of this DAW. Very much appreciated!
Great to hear, thanks so much.

Thanks Andrew. Your ongoing support is hugely appreciated. Hope all’s good with you.
"Rotate tool" just sounds rude, but do go on . . .
That said, frick'n brilliant feature. Noice, I loike it!! Thanks Jono

@@jonobuchananmusic Oh I "slipped" and fell onto the "Rotate Tool" today. Did the trick though!

Jono, what does it say on the back of the mug ? 😊
Hmm, I think it says "If you're not enjoying that, then you're watching the wrong channel" -which sounds a lot like the JB :)
😊 thanks @@davidpharo
DP is right - that's exactly what it says! It was a bit of a catchphrase for a while... maybe it's time to go there again, as it's been a while!
What would happen with Beat Breaker AND rotating?
Great idea! Please come back and let me know when you've had a chance to play with that combination. I suspect excellent things lie in wait.
