you should do an exhibit somewhere, a "hall of suits" where you get as many of your suits as possible on mannequins or at least a framework to see them standing! I'd pay to see that!
Whatever the name, it’s a GREAT idea. I went to a James bond exhibition here in Australia and it had original suits, cars, drawings, movie set designs, scripts, photos etc. It was amazing and drew a big crowd. Adam could easily pull something like this off.

But hard work, perseverance, forward thinking, and just the right amount of ambition can make it much more likely! But even then it’s never a sure thing. @@PaulMab9 in today's blockbuster system, everybody works hard except the writers and star movie actors. Then we get almost technically perfect exercises bud overall quality films. Also, the Great Wall was a good example of Hollywood trying to get into China (there's was no plot, just China pride) just as Aladdin for the middle easterns around the world.

Adam, you should 100% make a functional armor that looks like one of the prop suits of armor you get from these auctions. I think it would be such a cool project to watch you make.
I don't know if this is the same for anyone else, but after watching these videos (Adam going through Auction items and his armour, especially the series where he crafted the Excalibur armour) I've gained such a huge respect for the hard work that the costuming and prop department go through to make these films. Even films I didn't enjoy, I always take and second and just appreciate the world building and just sheer volume of hard work these people put into their craft to make these world's feel real whilst making the actors and extras as comfortable as possible.

Oh wow, I'm actually in the middle of building a Ming dynasty armour. A non-prop one, made of metal. The "triangular maille" is called mountain pattern scale, named so because the scales look like the Chinese character for mountain: 山. They slide under and over eachother, leaving only the three pointed star figure exposed, which this prop is emulating. The reason it's only emulated is because those scales are a pain to fabricate. You can trust me on this one. Great to see this here, Adam. I'll go check out that film and its props. Cheers!
Just offering independent confirmation that "mountain armor" is a PITA to fabricate. Even if modern CNC cutting makes it far easier, it's still VERY time-consuming to assemble, so small wonder they just emulated the looks.
Just FYI there is no evidence backing up the name of this thing. The original source does not describe how the mountain pattern armor look and the triangular shaped stuff is called "suozi" in another original source and it is more of a design pattern than actual armor.

Your comment seems to reaffirm that suspicion. I knew there was no archeologolical evidence for the stuff existing but it's interesting to learn that even the name is distputed. Though I suppose it's not surprising. Could you tell me how to write "suozi" in Chinese characters? It might help me in my research. Thanks.
My best friend got one of the armors from the auction, and I got to see it myself it's so gorgeous, and it was one of the most worn out and damaged ones it's incredible how amazing these are

Does anyone else find themselves looking at the tools/gear/storage in the background instead of the actual content? Everything is on castors.... its all things great about workshops and set design all rolled into one visual candyshop.

That black bumpy textured fabric is also used on one of Cersei's dresses in game of thrones!! You can buy it in the UK from Top Fabric as far as i remember!

That skirt armor is something called "Mountain Pattern Armor" which is interesting because I don't think we have any real historical examples of it, but it appears in a number of sculptures and paintings

I am very happy that I have seen the great wall in theater, it was a fantastic spectalce and I enojyed the story. It was not as shallow as one might think at first and very enjoyable. Chinese movies have a very different flair when talking about the price for honor and the burden of power. I like that a lot :)
Unfortunately the pattern on the chest plate is probably wrong as it is meant to be Mountain pattern armour and the pieces are meant to interlock but the design doesn’t do that
This armour kinda reminds me of the Iron Banner sets in Destiny 2, which follow a similar Japanese martial theme... they are absolutely gorgeous (both the ones in game and this one you're showing here). Such a holy amount of work has to go into these things for them to even be worthy, and all that detail really shows. Absolutely love it!
I LOVE THE GREAT WALL, so in my top 5 it's just amazing, I love the colour of all the different of part for the Army it's just mind blowing and I feel every time I watch it am seeing something new in the back ground that I did not see before, I wish alot more people had loved it =D

Come to New Zealand and test out our Pakeha Pate... The myth is it tastes better than any pate you can buy. All you need is one fully grown pakeha, take its head off and use for pate...
I was one of the lucky few that won one of the tiger corps armor and it arrived in the mail a day or two ago. Sadly, I received a suit that must have been worn by a stuntman. A few of the "scales" are broken and impossible to fix since some of the pieces are gone. The symbol on the belt is hanging on by a single thread and the leather/fabric adhesive is coming lose in several spots. I started saving my pennies the second I heard about the auction and won but now am torn if i should try to make repairs or leave it as is... or maybe save up my pennies for another auction.
I won a deer corps set. Some of the scales are broken as well, but it's not really noticeable. I'm thinking of removing a couple to make molds so that I can cast some replacements in resin. The paint job will be incredibly difficult to replicate though. I'm also not exactly the same size as a Chinese extra, so I had to add some extra leather-work in order to make it fit. My shield didn't come with a handle, but rather two arm straps. I'm thinking of making a new handle for it so that I can hold it easier. I made a face mask (mempo) to wear with it and added a paracord belt to hang a sword off. I can't wait to show this suit off in a few days for Halloween!
That is gorgeous, just stunning. Also love to see how they have solved things like the hand wraps, practical and good looking. Fake it until you make it. Then again I would be surprised if it was not top of the line, coming from weta :)
