Fun Fact if you do some digging there's a 3D walkthrough of the cave from.. I feel like the early to mid 2010's, Obviously the cave has DRASTICALLY changed over Adam's time working over on his own channel Tested, many projects we see him complete on Tested become aspects of the Cave's background cacophony and old friends are sometimes put away to make way for others but even the old 3D walkthrough is a fascinating dip into both Adam's mind, and also a wonderful look at some very amazing things. I end this by also telling you if you haven't to PLEASE go listen or read Adam's book Every Tool is a Hammer, it's a wonderful read and really helps you grasp who Adam is and better explains his shop/cave than anything else.
Hi there! Holy smokes what a great video! One tip for Adam if you will just take three objects from your cave of wonders and just make a video about them, you could have videos for the rest of your life and it's kind of like Jay Leno talking about his car collection. Adam you get to share amazing information about these thrilling items with your audience and teach at the same time.
Did anyone else get a shiver at the description of Adam explaining science and history to a child and immediately imagine him in a mr Rogers kind of show?
I was fortunate to be left a Curta calculator when a friend died. He was a computer engineer and told me it the calculator was one of a number that had been issued to the engineers/designers of the UKs first atomic power station. Turning the handle is reminiscent of a fine old camera, just a gentle zzzt as the gears turn and the numbers register. My favourite calculator.
I LOVE Brady's work. I LOVE Adam's work. And I love that I live in a world where I can see two amazing people who have done so much to bring the excitement and wonder of curiosity and knowledge to the masses shake hands and share that joy. With each other and with us. Hope to see more collaborations like this!
Brady is a skilled interviewer on a normal day, but I have to say I'm incredibly impressed with his ability to keep pace with Adam Savage, who is really like a Pomeranian on cocaine when he gets vibing in his element.
My brother has a Curta, and it's one of his prized possessions for good reason. It's SO well made, such a cool piece of kit. And, considering, it ain't cheap.
I just want to make a small correction to Adam’s explanation of how the Curta got started: Curt Herzstark did not come up with the idea of the Curta while in a concentration camp. He was encouraged to work on the device after being imprisoned in 1943, but the idea of a miniaturized calculator had been present for him since at least 1938, when he filed a patent for what would become the Curta’s stepped drum mechanism. The Nazis were aware of the idea, hence why they gave him preferential treatment in a place where he was supposed to die.
Didn't navies in the Second World War (at least the British and Americans) have big mechanical range finding computers on their battleships that made the complex calculations necessary for them to land their shells accurately on opponents? To me, it looks like the Curta is just a cut down and simplified one of those... or am I missing something important about the Curta?
@@Dave_Sisson You're thinking of gun directors, which were in no way similar to mechanical _digital_ calculators such as the Curta. In WWII, they were large (in the case of shipboard fire control) electro-mechanical _analog_ computers that worked out firing solutions in real time. Even anti-aircraft and field artillery had smaller, simpler analog gun directors in the war. The Curta is the mechanical equivalent of a four-banger. You can do addition, subtraction, multiplication (somewhat laboriously, but much easier than pencil and paper), and division (more laboriously yet, but still infinitely easier and faster than pencil and paper)
When Is started work in X-Ray in 1974 I worked on a generator made by Koch & Sterzel (Essen). The heart of the system was an analogue computer made of motors, cams, Bowden cable, microswitches, etc. I was told by an old timer that this was a development from the torpedo launch computer for U-boats. This is possible as it took in three inputs and produced an output in real time.
@YASH RAWAT Brady has run several channels over the years. The best content and most consistant is Periodic Videos with Notingham University. Probably one of the best educational channels on the platform.
By now Adam's Cave probably contains the most comprehensive collection of film costumes, props and paraphernalia in the world and one day children will visit it on school trips so they can experience the myth themselves.
Mythbusters got me to love science, and got me to love the educational channels of youtube, now the educational channels can hang out with mythbusters, it's a full circle, and I love it.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU for this amazing cross over! Seriously guys, you have outdone yourselves. I hate to be greedy, but PLEASE make more cross-over stuff with Adam and the Tested team.
When Brady said "what if i pulled out the original codex..." i was expecting, will actually we have Keith from the royal society here with the real codex!
I would love to see an episode with Adam actually AT the Royal Society. And next time you're in Australia you should try and get an episode with Dr. Karl
I have been subscribed since the first Objectivity video. I have the "bell" clicked on and STILL I often don't get new videos in my feed. This wonderful one didn't show up for three weeks. I'm thrilled that it finally showed up! This was fantastic. I hope Brady gets to go back again.
*A FRIEND OF MINE's* brother, his job is creating exhibits for museums that replicate priceless objects - but they can be on display or even played with. It must be THE most amazing job to have. Basically unlimited budget to recreate a machine or a book or anything. The team come from all nationalities but the team language is Russian*, if you cant speak Russian - you cant work with them. [* the first project was the Amber Room]
When I saw Adam Savage in the title, at first I thought "Huh that's funny, there must be some science RUclipsr with the same name as Adam Savage" and it took me a moment to realise. It's actually him!
Actually I thought I had missed a video or some extra content over on Adam's channel. AND THEN I realized that this was a visit from another unknown channel. AND THEN I realized this was Brady from Numberphile. Its all still sinking in of this crossover.
Wow. This is a most excellent Christmas present. My favorite RUclips channel with my favorite object creator and collector. I'm blown away. I would love for this to happen annually. Brady gets to California enough to make it happen
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been a Mythbusters fan since the very beginning. I have been a PTOV fan since the very first element video. Now, all these years later, the absolute joy of witnessing these 2 worlds collide?!? Adam and Brady?!?!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am bursting!!!!
I would love for Adam to have kept the gloves as another object in the collection, they’re iconic at this point, like a piece of numberphile brown paper
I think it's time for some Savage Objectivity. I loved this episode, Adam can tell a good story and Brady always knows what question to ask. I would really like to see some more of Adam and Brady together.
Next time, how about the story behind that Star Child from Kubrick’s “2001”? BTW, years ago I had a perfectly working Curta which I gave away as I’m more interested in collecting slide rules. That (x3) replica, on the other hand, is fantastic and would grab one - if only for its novelty!
It's a xmas miracle. The crossover I never expected
Yaaass!!👏👏
Almost sounds sarcastic
Its funny, I'd never heard of Brady until he was on Adam's podcast a couple years ago.
So often I am complaining to RUclips feedback about the terrible recommendations and then a day later a gem shows up.
It was inevitable. Adam Savage loves to show off his stuff and Brady loves to look at stuff.
Alternate title: Two men obsessed with boxes and objects geek out about boxes and objects, much to the delight of everybody watching
I really want to see Adam at the archive, and I bet that Keith would love to see the Leonardo codex replica.
That was my thinking as well. It would be nice to see Adam with something from history.
They could compare just how well the stains are replicated.
Wow. Im glad tested shared this video. I didnt know this Objectivity channel existed.
Sorry Brady, but this was not enough. You need to do an entire series on Adams amazing cave.
100% agreed!. This is a must.
Forget the royal society, Adam has way more stuff than even them

The cross-pollination of my favorite RUclipsrs always fills me with happiness.

I am impressed he actually managed to pick three! :D
And they were three that I had never seen before. I now wonder what Adam is hiding in that cave of his!?

@@blindleader42 Thanks for explaining that and clearing up my confusion. :)

Lucky enough to found this relatively hidden gem of a channel
@YASH RAWAT Brady has run several channels over the years. The best content and most consistant is Periodic Videos with Notingham University. Probably one of the best educational channels on the platform.
I cannot express how wonderful this video was. Thank you thank you to both Brady and Adam for this. Merry Christmas and happy holidays
This is some goosebump-inducing-level warm-fuzzyness right here! Thank you Brady, Adam, the crew, and U. Nottingham!

This is a fantasy come true, though I admit that I didn't actually have this fantasy 'til I saw the vid thumbnail.
First Numberphile, then Corridor Crew last week, and now Objectivity. Adam is visiting all my favorite channels.
When Brady said "what if i pulled out the original codex..." i was expecting, will actually we have Keith from the royal society here with the real codex!
a lot of people have great careers; Brady has generated a terrific career for himself, thanks, again!, for sharing your daily experiences.
A podcast with Brady and Adam would fill the void of hello internet.
Woah! 👀
This is something I've been wanting to see since forever
You realise that we all would watch an hour-long episode of this right? ;)
Isn't that what Tested is for‽ This is nice and concise!
clearly the 3x curta is for calculating really big numbers
Adam's Omega Seamaster planet ocean and Brady's Speedmaster. Lovely :))
Adam's beautiful and masterful use of the English language is a thing to behold.
Adam itself is a treasure!
Adam is just a great guy. One of societies treasures
Wow, Adam has been doing lots of awesome collabs lately!
I would love to see an episode with Adam actually AT the Royal Society. And next time you're in Australia you should try and get an episode with Dr. Karl
The greatest interviewer interviews the greatest interviewee.
As one of the people who suggested/requested/demanded this… thank you! ☺️
*But now I want to hear Adam’s unmade podcast ideas!
Wonderful, Brady! I never imagined I'd see you in Adam's Cave. Delightful!
What an amazing holiday gift! Wow! I loved seeing the inside of THE Adam Savage's shop!
Great video, unexpected crossover. Never wanted a tattoo but having ruler/ conversion scale is tempting
I remember when Adam got some of those. I have been a fan for test for many years
If ever I wanted a 1h episode of Objectivity, it would be now.
This is fantastic! Thanks again team, for all that you do :)
I have been subscribed since the first Objectivity video. I have the "bell" clicked on and STILL I often don't get new videos in my feed. This wonderful one didn't show up for three weeks. I'm thrilled that it finally showed up! This was fantastic. I hope Brady gets to go back again.
Don’t you have to double or triple click the bell or do something else these days?
@@ObjectivityVideos Because RUclips doesn't think I meant to click the bell the first time? That would not surprise me.
*A FRIEND OF MINE's* brother, his job is creating exhibits for museums that replicate priceless objects - but they can be on display or even played with.

The two of you make for a great pair of object lovers. Excellent to see this happen!
Now we need a followup where Keith brings us the original books that would be really special
Wow, that codex looked amazing!

The codex really rang a bell in my brain. Actually seeing the document as it actually is kinda blows my mind.
I pity the poor guy that printed off that massive piece. He's probably thinking "if it breaks, I'll send them 3 more".....
10:00 It's fun to daydream how you'd explain things to Leonardo, given language & number barriers...
Numbers would not be the barrier I think it would be more the language.
Please do a whole series on Adam's cave.
Oh man! The crossover event of the year right here! Now let's get Adam to the Royal Society...
Maybe Adam Savage is not science enough .... but would the Royal Society let him speak?
Brady and Adam- that’s a good Christmas present.
This crossover is a Christmas gift in itself!
Uh, I have a Curta - Thanks for reminding me!
Never expected this crossover! It was awesome
Italian renaicance masters were some of the most brilliant minds in Human history. Brunolleschi, Da'Vinchi, Carravagio are my favorite picks.
Wow. This is a most excellent Christmas present. My favorite RUclips channel with my favorite object creator and collector. I'm blown away. I would love for this to happen annually. Brady gets to California enough to make it happen
What a flex pointing out they are both wearing $5000 watches.
Excellent collaboration! Two of my favorite YT creators together, awesome!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been a Mythbusters fan since the very beginning. I have been a PTOV fan since the very first element video. I no English, but today I know what Wholesome means.
Thank you!
I never realised how similar the two of you look until now. Down to the watch! Amazing.
I've been waiting for this cross over for years now.
I would love for Adam to have kept the gloves as another object in the collection, they’re iconic at this point, like a piece of numberphile brown paper
More of this please! I'll bet the two of you could talk for hours and we all want to hear it.
Once again being a fan of Mr Savage has opened my eyes to new content. New sub. Happy New Year everyone
No way! This is amazing!
This is excellent, we need way more episodes from the Cave
Or a whole new channel. Cavernaphile.
This is a nice Christmas gift, happy holidays Brady thanks for the cool videos!
I loved seeing you both geek out together!
Woah! Brady, what a mad lad, he actually did it :D
We want a thousand Objectivity videos with Adam!!
We’d be up for that.
What a crossover I never would have imagined!
Please do more of the cave!
What a Christmas treat.
Two of my favorite RUclipsrs. 🍳⛵️🐜
I think it's time for some Savage Objectivity. I loved this episode, Adam can tell a good story and Brady always knows what question to ask. I would really like to see some more of Adam and Brady together.
This channel is such a treasure trove
This was an awesome Christmas gift. Thank you =)
Next time, how about the story behind that Star Child from Kubrick’s “2001”?

5:17 whoa, wait a minute... it goes. To. Eleven?! And neither of you two commented on that? I am properly broken.
He's wearing the gloves! Yes! Life is complete.
MORE OF THIS PLEASE.
"I will have you back any time" was the best ending ever
No idea how I ended up here, but i love this!
Omg this is amazing! Adam is my hero!
Wow, that's wonderfull.
Thank you two for this video.
Always happy to see Adam. A good surprise! :D
seeing you two together is crazy
What a delight!
Tengo seis calculadoras Curta, cada vez que sale Adam a mostrar la suya valen 100 dólares más... así que... ¡Gracias Adam por este regalo navideño..!!
Best crossover I never knew I wanted
Legendary Cross-over
Really nice interview. Kudos.
8:30 does IDW know about these folios? That's a serious artist's edition.
thank you for this gift! 🎁 ❤️ 😊
Well this is a pairing i could have never imagined. I like it! 😊
