- Adam is obsessed with movie armor, and he finally has a full set of armor made by the incredible craftspeople of Weta Workshop. This Alliance Knight armor was made for the movie Warcraft, and is part of many pieces of armor and beautiful props going on auction. Adam is awestruck by the detail here!

Anyway, technicly, the alliance doesn't exist during warcraft 1 movie (not sure if they did the mistake to name it or not, but the alliance was formed when the stormwind refugees fleed to Lorderon and warned the others human factions of the threat).

Classic Stormwind soldier uniform, which a lot of Alliance loved to transmog into. You would not be able to wear all this gear at level 20. You would see level 15/25 Stormwind soldiers wear it, but you have the helm at 20.

Adam growing up without a. Dad and using other males in my life as role models you were one of them . Whether you were in TV or not . You've taught me so much just by having the pleasure of watching you and your friends on TV for so many years . Whether you know me or not I realize people like you only want to help teach and inspire and others try but in semi destructive ways . Imo I enjoyed Warcraft movie, it was fun. But I don't watch movies for story, as long as I understand what's happening and who's bad and who's good, I'll enjoy most movies.

The director talked about it. Said that because of the money made overseas, that they made enough to make another movie. However, it has not since been confirmed to be in any stage as of yet.
the armor is cool, Adam's reactions to said armor are waaaay better. That's pure joy right there.

Love his enthusiasm and the quality of work on this is incredible. I have no idea what it’s from as I bet I’m the only person who watches these who does not watch the movies, plays the games or reads the books, never been into the fantasy, sci-fi, dystopian stuff in truth. I have seen Star Wars but it was the very first one back at the end of the seventies and I saw it on its original release in the cinema but have not seen it again.
But that does not stop me enjoying these videos as the enthusiasm is infectious and being a modeler I love Adams one day builds for what they offer technically and creatively. So I guess what I am saying with all of this is that these videos are so well done and the enthusiasm so infections even someone who is not into these genres enjoys these videos! :)

Request: video series talking exclisively about materials. Like a REAL deep dive into industry-used, maybe not exclusive but certainely much harder to get for the average hobbyist, materials from prop industries like the truck-bed polyurethane you discussed for the armour production. I love that stuff and you're probably one of the best poised RUclipsrs to be able to get to see behind the scenes! :)

wow it finally makes sense why the left shoulder is bigger thats the shield hand so it has extra lip to protect the neck encase a blade is deflected upwards.BRILLIANT!
How does Adam not have some (if any) props from Game of Thrones? I would love to see a one day build of the Iron Throne or some armor/sword. The amount of content from the show he could do a video on could sustain this channel for the next 5 years.

This armor is gorgeous, but from a shitty movie aimed at geeks.
Game of Thrones is an ongoing production. It would be a huge mistake to get rid of your props/costumes while you could still need them. Also, GoT is super geeky too. The difference is it's actually good.
GoT is super mainstream, World of Warcraft is not. That was the point I was trying to make.
I guarantee that the people buying the props and costumes are the same people for either property. People that buy movie props are usually either turbo fans, which Warcraft and GoT would almost definitely have huge overlap both being fantasy series, or people, like Adam, that like to collect movie props and costumes.
Wow. I just checked out the auctions and holy crap! I was just staring at them. Weta are definitely an extremely high quality prop making company.

The shield is probably from the prologue when the grunt berserks a footman in the Blasted Lands.
My childhood dream this!!! I was happy when I went to a castle in Wales and was bought a wooden sword and shield like this!! Amazing! I think I remember Chirk Castle??

lol you wore the shoulder pauldrons wrong adam, the side with the neck guard goes on the side opposite of the shield, but man so lucky!!!!
You stand sideways towards your opponent with your shield arm (non-dominant arm, so usually left)forwards , this is also the side where the neck guard is facing. So Adam did wear it correctly.

kinda dumb though that there isn't one for both sides. If you are looking to get killed by a left handed person I guess this armor is perfect.
@@Aeglos88 You are incorrect. I have worn real armor professionally for tournament fighting, and the large pauldron protects your exposed sword arm. The shield protects your other side, that's why the smaller pauldron goes on the left.

Stormwind guard armor. I know it's used by alliance soldiers as well, but that's how I remember the armor.
Really wonder what something like that would cost. Probably far outside my range sadly :(
Asking bids are actually pretty low. 500 for a similar set.
But I guess - especially after this video - it will go way up until the auction ends.
I saw the auction page, surprisingly not that expensive. Anywhere from $120 or so, up to about $600. Most of the alliance soldier armor is going for fairly low in the $200 range. Sadly that's too much for me to afford right now as well :/.
Still lots of time in the auction. Doubt the people who are really going to try for those items have put in a bid yet.
You could also totally make a set of armor like this pretty cheap using EVA foam. There are tons of videos and tutorials how on youtube and Adam even did a one day build not too long ago with Bill Doran of Punished Props(great foam armor teacher btw) where they made a nazghul gauntlet out of foam.
Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. My thing is I'm not a big fan of foam construction - I'd rather do something like this out of leather, thermoplastic, and I'd love to try something made with truck bed liner after Adam Savage pointed that out in this video. I'm actually constructing my own set of fantasy armor right now out of chain maille and scale maille, although it's an original design. Not Warcraft.
That some of the best fantasy armor I've seen! What fun! Only thing is, Adam has the pauldrons reversed, the smaller one goes on the shield arm and the bigger one protects the exposed sword arm.
Makes one wonder how the Alliance could afford full plate, mail, and swords for their lowest rank and most numerous infantry... Business was good I suppose.

But you didn't equip a cape! Your ilvl gonna be too low Adam. You can't kill Horde in pvp that way :(
yah that cape taht gives 10stam 200 armour and 13 deff is rly good in early game
He did have a cape, it was just transmogged to be invisible.

Long time since I played WoW, but couldn't you just go into options to hide the cloak?
That option was removed 3 or 4 expansions ago. You now have to visit a transmogrifier to hide cloaks / helms.

I don’t normally have this feeling but out of nowhere came a belly laugh as I watched Adam in front of the mirror in full uniform thrusting his sword and yelling! Almost fell out of chair!

it looks to be butted mail. My best guess is aluminum rings, though it could be plastic like the rest of the armor.
The three main kinds of mail are riveted, welded, and butted. Riveted is the historically accurate kind. The rings are cut open to weave them together, and then a tiny rivet goes into the ring to hold it shut. This gives the greatest durability and protective value of the three mail types. Butted mail is primarily for costume armor. There’s nothing to hold the rings shut, instead the ring is just forced closed, putting one end of the ring right up to the other end of it, and you rely on the rigidity of the material to not open back up. This is the easiest to make, but will start falling apart if you hit it.If poorly made this type of mail may even start to fall apart under its own weight while you’re running around in it.
Then with welded mail the rings are welded shut after being woven together. This is easier to do than riveting the ring closed but relies on modern technology. It’s only slightly weaker than the riveted mail, and works well for historical re-enactments and larping when you want to have armor than you can get hit in, but doesn’t necessarily need to save your life from a spear rammed into your chest by a knight on horseback.

I'm right there with you Adam! I'm 57, and I'm awestruck by the armor. Hell, even though I wear suit by day, I'd love to show up in the office one day with that armor on!

the standard alliance armor's always had a nice figure to it, really impressed they managed to make it look that good and actually be wearable and not look flimsy

What does he do with his finger when he cuts the box?
He puts his finger against the blade. So he controls how deep the blade goes in... You don't want to damage whatever its inside the box

So I watched again with 0.5 speed:
When he opens the side, he just cuts regularly, pressing the blade's back down with his index finger
But when he cuts the middle, he puts his thumb on the blade's side to control the depth, and he also doesn't press the blade down by it's backside

He should maybe invest in a box cutter? But, yeah, his technique works too.

Get the Arthas (as a death knight) costume... its WAAAAAAY cooler than a footman captain's armor. (that's why the pauldrons are different... they denote rank) Also, humans are weak children. FOR THE HORDE!
