One thing I like about this episode is the further look into Sawyer's character through the book Of Mice and Men. In the prison he comments that he wants to get back to the book to "see if George gets his farm". On the island, he quotes from the book about getting a "place you always wanted, George." He seems so proud knowing that it's from a book that he read and liked. Later Ben quotes from the same book talking about "a guy gets lonely if he doesn't have someone." Sawyer has no idea what that line is from. Sawyer obviously took from the book what mattered most to him. Finding a place to settle down and call home. Stability. He didn't remember the quote about personal relationship and the desire to love and be loved by someone. We take what we want from a story.

Poor Sawyer, he got some victories this season, but now he’s completely defeated. He’s good to adapt under pressure, but now he can’t get to the point of being under pressure anymore. As a “confidence man”, doubt would “kill” him. Everyman for himself doesn’t really work in his favour this time (even Kate disagrees). See you in the next episode, bothar! Namaste and good luck!

I don't understand why nobody, literally not one person, is intrigued by the guy asking Kate if she loved Sawyer while beating him up. Why would he care if Kate loves Sawyer based on what we know so far? Why did he need Kate to say she loves Sawyer? Of course, I have ideas knowing the future episodes but I've always thought that's the main thing fans should have centered after watching this episode. What do you think about this? Isn't that guy asking the question to Kate really weird and intriguing? Don't get me wrong, this is not a criticism to you guys, it's just a general thing that bugs me because I don't remember seeing any other reactor focusing on that either. I don't even remember if I focused on that myself when I was watching it for the 1st time. But watching it later, it's just weird and it feels like it should be a clue and I think it really is but of course I won't reveal any theories of mine :)
This scene has always struck me as really strange too. Especially as it seems to make more sense that Kate saying she loves Sawyer, would make Danny hurt him even more (because he's just lost someone HE loves and wants other people to suffer that pain too)...yet it has the opposite effect. I've never been able to made any sense of it, so I'd be interested to hear your theories if you have the time...maybe you can put a spoiler alert?
@@letsrock1729 @letsrock1729 Ok, I'll try. Anyone who didn't watch the whole show shouldn't read further. By the way, I don't think what I'm going to say will be a huge revelation to you. It's just a minor thing in the big picture of the show but this is my explanation: [SPOILERS AHEAD] LAST WARNING. DO NOT READ. I think Kate-Sawyer's whole purpose to be there is to manipulate Jack. We kinda have the confirmation of that from Juliet-Ben's flashback conversation at the Pearl station in the "Expose" episode. In order to manipulate Jack, The Others need Kate and Sawyer to get romanticly closer. They know if Sawyer-Kate gets together, Jack will have no reason to stay on the Island and be more cooperative to the idea of doing the operation and leaving the island. That's why they're taking their time to make demands from Jack. They're waiting Sawyer and Kate becoming a couple. That's also why they've made Kate work in front of Sawyer with a nice dress. That's also why Ben's quote from Mice and Men says "a man gets too lonely, he gets sick" which advices Sawyer to open his heart to someone. That's also why, although it's not exactly the original plan, they've made Jack see Sawyer-Kate making love in the cage. I think after Coleen's death, Danny is so blinded by revenge he gets impatient and he wants the plan go much quicker so he can finally kill Sawyer and Kate (and maybe even Jack) afterwards, which he somehow thinks will ease his pain. That's why he wants Kate to say it and they finally can open up to each other and get together. Bonus: The side plan besides the main plan might also be getting Kate pregnant in the process, to have another on Island pregnancy for continuing their pregnancy experiments. Of course, Danny doesn't care about that any more after Coleen's death.
@@astragalusson Oh yes, that all makes complete sense! SPOILER ALERT... I mean, I obviously knew that Sawyer and Kate were there as a manipulation tool, but I'd never thought of this in terms of the Others actively encouraging/furthering their connection in order to achieve this manipulation (only in terms of how they already felt about each other...even though neither of them were willing to admit it). I love how 'in-depth' you've gone with all this (despite having seen Lost more times than I can count, it's now clear that I've never given this particular situation enough thought). Thanks for taking the time to get back to me in so much detail.
The beginning of the 3X01 was a good twist, but the rest of the episode was boring to me. I just didn’t enjoy most of the time showed with The Others. Ben and Juliet also ran dry for me.

Pra mim ela sempre entregou.
Have any of you ever read "Of Mice and Men"?
We haven't! Have you?
@@reatores I don't think so. I've definitely seen the excellent movie adaptation with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich, so I know what happens. I think the only Steinbeck I've read is The Grapes of Wrath, which was really good (weird ending, though).
Oh, I didn't know there was a movie! Nice! Great actors!
See you in the next episode, bothar! Namaste and good luck!
O Hanso do Hugo faz as pessoas terem ranço KKKKKKKKKKKKJKK
Caí no bait 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Ben pega o Sawyer no jeito
Dear Goo Goo Ga Ga ! Another cool episode with grandpa Rodrigo. Seriously, you're 46 ? I was thinking you're 10 less. Fun fact, the book Sawyer's reading in jail is "Of Mice And Men", the devil is in the details. Sawyer, better man days by days.
Yeah, that detail is cool as hell!
Oh yes I am... glad I look younger haha!
@@reatores Me I always looked older, at 15, as tall as today, people tell me I'm 18. Now, 33, people think I'm 37-38, the few grey hairs and the baldness don't help :D
I'm "growing" some baldness too haha!
@@reatores We have more and more aerodynamics hair cut :D
I had no idea that Rodrigo Santoro was THAT famous for you guys in Brazil. 😅🤭
Just for the record, and this doesn't spoil anything, but I LOVE Nikki and Paolo! 🥰
(Especially because I find Kiele Sanchez.... INSANELY hot 😍😍😂🤭)
Please don't give up on them too early. 👍
(Although I looked up the actress after Lost and weirdly enough she never was as attractive anymore. No matter what pictures I found, she only made my heart beat faster on Lost.... 🤔🤷♂️)
He is that famous here... and very respected!
Oh, that's rare, people usually don't like them, it's cool that you do! Personally, I have no problem with them, but I get why people dislike them.
It's just a minor thing in the big picture of the show but this is my explanation:
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
LAST WARNING.
@@letsrock1729 No problem :) I like talking about LOST, so I thank you for being a cool conversation partner :)
@@astragalusson Same here...and right back at you! 😀
"Someone please cancel Charlie"🤡🤡
Charlie's been pissing them off... I hope they change their minds!
The beginning of the 3X01 was a good twist, but the rest of the episode was boring to me. I just didn’t enjoy most of the time showed with The Others. Ben and Juliet also ran dry for me.
Fair enough! There's actually a lot of people who has that opinion. I understand.
