    Kate clearly passed over the pylons from a very narrow space so that she never crossed the plane between the pylons. I guess the smoke can't contain itself in enough of a narrow space near the fence to get over it. Also, when it moves in its big smoke form, you can hear a clanking chain noise, so maybe somehow it's connected to the ground with a type of electromagnetic chain or something which makes him can't climb the pylons, I don't know...

    • @reatores
      @reatores  9 дней назад

      Good thinking! Even though the smoke must probably be supernatural, it does have some physicality. Thus, it makes sense that it has its limitations.

    • @JacopoBasanisi

      Also, I mean, we don't know how the pylons work, it could be still useless to fly. Aaand we didn't really see the smoke fly like a plane

      I've never heard it, even though I've deliberately listened for it. All I can hear are generic jungle sounds (the 'gentle hum' of a place alive with bustling insects, plant life etc).

  • @letsrock1729

    Juliet wasn't on trial for wanting Ben dead. It was because she shot and killed Danny...and, as she explains, killing one of their own is a big no-no.
    Knowing all kinds of facts about Jack doesn't mean Juliet knows him better than Kate does. That's the same as us knowing all kinds of facts about a celebrity.
    As just one example, she didn't know the 'counting to five' story until she heard Kate repeat it over the walkie talkie. Personal anecdotes and the shared experience of surviving on the island post-crash are worth far more than knowing someone's height, weight, birthday etc.
    Juliet's just being unnecessarily mean here, imo.
    And if Sayid doesn't trust her, that's good enough for me.
    Love the connection between Kate and Cassidy...one of my favourite S3 flashbacks ❤

      100% agreed about Juliet being mean to Kate at that convo. Even though I love her, that was unnecessary, IMO.

    • @reatores

      Realmente. Mas lembro que na edição desse vídeo eu fui conferir, e o Victor tava quase certo. A diferença é perto dos 10 anos mesmo.

    About smoke's bright flashes; I think because it was night time and dark when it scanned Juliet, that's why we've seen brighter flashes compared to Eko, which was at day time. I think they over did the brightness a little bit but that should be the intention. Also, there might be a brighter light for some people and darker light for others I guess, maybe due to their past and maybe it's why Locke saw a bright light but Eko saw something else, but this is just a speculation of mine... I have other theories as well about the Eko-Locke distinction.

    • @reatores
      @reatores  9 дней назад

      Yes. It was definetely intentional this time. Does that imply it has different scanning levels? I also prefer to think it was night and thus, those looked brighter. But not sure.

    I think the intensity of the flashing associated with the smoke monster is a red herring. I think the differences in the amount of flash are more easily explained by a lack of continuity of production. I don't think they meant for one to appear more intense than another really. The flashing we saw with Eko was from behind the smoke, as it flashed we saw images of things that happened in Eko's life. We didn't seem to see any flashes at all when John was looking up at the smoke, but the camera was focused on his face in bright sunlight and it was early in the show. So maybe they just didn't think about creating any flashes on his face, or maybe they decided a little later that flashes were a thing at all. With Kate and Juliette, the flashes were more pronounced and obvious, again, darker scene than when John saw it the first time, but again, we were focused on their faces, not looking through the back of the smoke as with Eko, so, the flashes appear brighter. I would say, if we assume that the smoke is 'scanning' people when the flashes happen, then it's also safe to assume anyone it decides to scan, will have flashes associated with the process. We haven't seen everyone have an up close encounter with it, so, we don't know at this point what it would look like in every case.

      SPOILER
      When the smoke kills all those Keamy soldiers in 4x9, do you remember any flashes? I have the impression that there were some lightning, but I don't know. If that's the case, I doubt it was scanning all those soldiers.

      @@reatores ....
      It seems like there was some flashing or lightning as you put it. If you recall, the smoke itself was much better rendered than in earlier appearances. I just assume that's the result of improvements in CGI or more budget dedicated to it, so they made some artistic decisions which may not be directly related to story. i.e., they were just thinking about how much better they could make the affect, not trying to comment on what the smoke was doing as far as scanning, no scanning etc.

    Juliet dando o golpe na Kate e falando que deseja que ela goste do sanduiche é excelente. Tem como nao Juliet é minha Rainha e nunca esta errada. E que faz mal para ela merece levar voadora de dois pé.
    Hurley melhor golpista da serie, o Ben teve que fazer uma baita encenação para enganar o Sawyer e o Hurley foi no papinho, e como o Ben falou a melhor forma de ganhar a confiança de um golpista é aplicando um golpe nele.

    Obrigado, Rodrigo e os reatores! Não gosto que Juliet tenha contado os fatos sobre Jack (sua altura, peso, para quem ele trabalhava...) como argumento de que ela o conhece melhor do que Kate. Não concordo com isso. Na minha opinião, Kate conhece Jack melhor como pessoa de qualquer maneira. Na minha opinião, o dossiê de Jack, lido dos arquivos, não ajuda a entender uma pessoa de verdade. Mas Kate conhece Jack muito melhor como pessoa nesse aspecto. E não apenas algum tipo de biografia. Kate conheceu melhor a alma de Jack

    SPOILER
    Regarding Nikki and Paulo’s death, it was hinted at, but never confirmed, that the spiders were a manifestation of the Monster. What is quite clear to me, especially knowing the lore around the Man in Black, is that it was indeed the Monster that caused their death: right before Nikki gets bitten, you can hear the faint tikka tikka sound of the Monster, which is what led Nikki to frantically run away from the spot where Paulo was paralyzed, and ultimately led to the Losties burying them alive. If she had not heard the Monster, she would never have run away after being bitten (I don’t think that’s a plausible reaction just for the bite of a spider) and after 8 hours both would have recovered and survived. In a sense, the Monster worked to indirectly eliminate at least one of the Candidates (Nikki’s last name was written in the Lighthouse, we don’t know Paulo’s).
    As for the Monster appearing as three separate entities right before crashing into the sonic fence, this was probably how the writers initially intended to represent it: as confirmed by podcasts and extras, the Dharma Initative referred to it as “Cerberus”, and even identified spots on the Island where the Monster came out of, the so-called Cerberus Vents, identified as CV on the Lockdown Map.

      All you said sounds possible and makes sense (and certainly crossed the writer's minds at some point), but I have to take a moment to watch that scene again, cause I always somehow miss those sounds haha!
