    The Buchardt's are just a spectacular speaker. Once you've changed the tuning to the Theoretical setting it's no contest for me on what speaker is the most exciting and energizing. I've not found much that I like more without a sub as I enjoy a nice bounce when listening to music. Good thing I live in a house so I can appreciate them on the level they deserve.

      @@NoStereoNoLife understandable. Not sure if you give opinion on this but I wonder how they compare to other similarly priced speakers. It's about $7.6k usd for the bundle set. Pretty steep but could they be the end game for some people?

    MULTIPLE MASTER TUNINGS!!
    Now this is cool and unheard of in the industry! With the flexibility of such powerful DSP, we are in complete control of what we want the speaker to do. This means, that we will provide downloadable master tunings to completely change the fundamentals of the speakers sound design.
    So what does this mean? (A500 is the explained example here)
    The standard master tuning the speakers come with, is a 2.5 way design, tuned to 25hz straight with a variable bass tuning. This means, if you play at 100dB, you can't expect two 6” woofers to generate 25hz. The system will then smoothly set the bass tuning higher, so the woofers don’t break. We think this is the best overall tuning for most people.
    But what if your needs are different? What if you rarely play loud? Maybe you live in a smaller apartment where SPL is not important to you? Then download a different master tuning from our website - copy the master tuning file onto a USB key - place the USB key in the USB port on the back of one of the speakers (when it's turned off) - turn it on - remove the USB key and repeat this process on the other speaker. Boom! you now have a speaker that is configured as a 3 way design, that is tuned to 20hz instead. A true full range compact speaker, perfect for small apartments!
    What if you want something where deep bass is not important, but SPL is? Maybe you want to use subs with them? Same thing; download a different master tuning that do just that.
    Here, only your imagination is the limit. We are experimenting with Cardioid tuning, semi Cardioid tuning, optimized nearfield tunings for professional studio use and much more. Have any great ideas? Let us know. We wish to make the most flexible speaker in the world. A speaker that we can keep on improving, even long after its release.
    (Different tunings for the A700 is also being developed, more information would follow).
    Upcoming solution for your mid-base problem. 🙌🏼

    Thank you for the great videos and demos! After some research, I am totally convinced about the Buchardt speakers. Only I hesitate between the A500 and A700 and I do not have the knowledge of an audiophilel :). I want the speakers in our living room. This is 5.4 meters by 3.9 meters. The speakers are in the width in front of the seat (3.9 meters). The distance when I sit in my seat to my current speakers is about 2.8 meters. I listen mostly to quiet rock and like deep voices (The National, Leonard Cohen, ...).
    My questions: what am I missing if I buy the A500 and not the A700 (I really have FOMO!)? What is the difference in sound between these speakers?
    Are floorstanding speakers always better then bookshelves?
    Or will the A700 be overkill in this space?

    • @NoStereoNoLife
      @NoStereoNoLife  3 года назад +5

      FOMO? oh definitely get the A700 lol. The main difference is just the low end which is quite stunning if you play music with those freq range. I think the A700 also has an advantage having vertical imaging. I just experienced this last night while playing random music.
      The A700 is not really that big and it takes the same space as the bookshelf (with stand), and with the LLE feature you can still enjoy listening at lower volumes. We have about the same room size, the A700 is a good fit.

    These and the A500's are dependent on the software provided in the master tunings. I had the A500's but the software was going through some problems and I gave up and sent them back just about the time they apparently straightened things out. I would want to know what state that software and hub to send it is in for the A700's before taking the plunge. And you can't demo these at any dealer since they are direct to customer. Its quite a risk but a tantalizing one. Lets get some more reviews and comparisons out there soon.

    I got question regarding having an external amp already (Hegel H190).
    So if i buy these speakers and connect to amp via XLR i will loose Buchardt room correction DSP only, but i still get master tunings?
    Have you tested with room correction already and is it useful?
    Why i ask is because currently i have 70% music listening and 30% watching movies (5.1.2 setup). For movies is use tower speakers via receiver preout to my Hegel amp.
    So if i would connect A700 speaks to Hegel that gets signal from receiver, will that not conflict with Buchardt DSP when watching movies?

    I"ll be interested when they make the usual rounds of the hifi community... Sean @ ZF hated the Buch A500 as they did not meet his expectations at all. I think the A700 likely show the full potential of the tech that Mads is working on but that price is a bitter pill to swallow. Especially with class d amplification... I guess we'll see how the master tunes work out as well as the room correction success people have via their iphone microphone.

  • @bynahelemaal
    @bynahelemaal 3 года назад +1

    What does breaking in actually entail,
    like, how long and what do you do?
    Do you play music continuously for like 30hrs at a normal ‘background music’ level or... also is that black little box the amp?
    I’ve never had new speakers before, only previously owned speakers, which needed no breaking in.
    They look amazing, btw!!! 🔥🔥🔥

    • @NoStereoNoLife
      @NoStereoNoLife  3 года назад +2

      Thanks! If practical for you - yes, continuously; but for me it's only when convenient. Just play music at normal level preferably the ones that can exercise/move the woofers. The black little box is the stereo hub that sends wireless signals to the speakers. If you have preamp you can connect to the speaker via XLR cable. The A700/A500 have their amp built in inside the speaker.

    sorry for all these questions but im genuinely interested in these now. On the stevie ray vaughn song, are the guitar strings really forward and in your face ? Could you turn it up and it would still be tolerable? I ask because i had bw 702s2 and on songs like that they instruments were so forward it was like they were in your ears, so i couldnt even turn the volume up because it would be way too strident, not balanced...Was curious if these are balanced and in the ballpark of neutral or are they voiced forward and sometimes in your face?

    • @NoStereoNoLife
      @NoStereoNoLife  3 года назад +1

      Just listened louder like you said. lol I got mesmerized on the dynamics of strings moving left right, getting forceful and lighter. Same with the drums. It's not in-your-face forwardness, it's enveloping and the sound seem to come forward at times the sound get's louder, that's all.

    If something has to do with missing midbass it’s certainly your room acoustics/ or speaker design.
    The SB drivers in this construction need about an hour of heavy exercusion (in bass) and they’re pretty much settled in. (80% of xmax)
    You can make this quicker (especially for midrange driver) that you push it in with your fingers a few times to massage the suspension if you’re worried they’re not ”broken in”...
    Don’t think it will change dramatically that’s what i’m saying.

      Most likely I won't be able to compare them side by side. My educated guess - I think on grand scale, the A700 would be better on filling larger room, better bass. The A500 perhaps is better at "disappearing" act in a room. Since the A700 has dedicated midrange and woofer drivers, it may have lower harmonic distortion. Again, these are just conjectures though.
