The most jaw droppings thing about this scene is not John Connor’s death, it’s the fact that this was James Cameron’s idea.
For real…to undermine his own movie.. t2

T3, when you realize Miles Dyson died for nothing.

No, rise of the machines and salvation were proof that Miles and the T-800’s sacrifice was for nothing. And I liked T3, Salvation can remain forgotten in the abyss however.

If you’re wanting to make a sequel don’t kill the og characters Like the starwars sequels, only kill the characters if it’s necessary for the plot and give them a heroic death

It amazes me how this one scene instantly undoes one of the greatest sequels ever made. Like, why the hell would you want to ruin/destroy the relationship between T2's John Connor and the T-800?!
Because Hollywood never cared about the money. It’s about sending a message 🖕
Well, two can play at that game
Well T3 had this same concept. Only that John is terminated by a t800 in the future. He said it was for his experiences as a kid that made him lower his guard, I mean if the war kept getting pushed back, that won’t stop John from aging. He would in turn have a less participation after every change the good guys did in the pass. Hence effectively making him more irrelevant in the future. They want a quick transition to the new hero and it backfire.
@@Tempusverum Hm, I think you got that backwards, Doc.
@@videogameguy101 I’m not your doc
Because Cameron never wanted to make any more Terminator movies after T2, but Hollywood didn't listen to him. So eventually he returned to drown the series once and for all. I would have done the same if people didn't listen that there should be no more sequels to my work.
In all honesty.... What was going on in James Cameron’s mind to allow this to actually happen?!?! The fact that these guys were soooo perfectly de-aged means they could have made whatever film they wanted. Just depressing.
Well supposedly this was done because the director Tim Miller said that he doesn't believe in stories about chosen ones. But then I guess he forgotten about that statement when Dani came along.

John did both between Dark Fate and Genysis
Both where shitty movies, specially Dark Fate.
and neither of them were particularly good
So did James Cameron
They destroyed John Connor
@@bloomblock2768 I enjoyed the plot twist in Genysis, but its just me I guess. John becoming the bad guy was playing with the elements of an existing story. I thought it might not even be a permanant change for the next film. Genysis also didn't try to make a new robot type like in T3 and Dark fate, the liquid one in T2 was the last creative invention by the writers. We also got to see the time machine in action, when Matt Smith grabbed John Connor, I knew that this film was going to be my second favorite one after T2. Dark fate tried to reboot the franchise with new characters, the T-800 and Sarah Connor were there just to keep a continuity with the previous films. Without it being a proper Terminator film, Dark Fate wouldn't be succesful in the box office. There wasn't a positive mood like in Genysis (I almost cried in T2 when Arnold died, I would definitely cry if he died again in Genysis) or the epic distopia of skeleton robots with human teeth stepping on the remains of humans. The first half of the film was in spanish, forcing me to read subtitles. The automative sector of Mexico felt more bollywood compared to the computer sector of the silicon walley. And they showed a scene of Sarah Conner in the mental hospital at the beginning of the film like the new matrix movies, like, they can understand which scenes make a good movie, but can't do justice to them.
Story of Dark Fate makes T3 look like a flawless masterpiece.
I really love T3, it really doesn't get enough respect. I even love the John from it, I hated the war hardened John of Salvation

I turned this movie off the second this happened. Not only does this kill the franchise but it also makes the events of the first two movies irrelevant which are two of the best movies of all time. For me T2 was the last movie in the franchise since it was supposed to be the end of the terminator saga and it had a fitting ending
They should of end it with salvation.
@shannondemers I kinda but don’t agree I think salvation would fit in an alternate timeline but James Cameron intended for the series to end with judgement day prevented and John Connor going on to live a normal life. That is why the t800 lower himself into lava to prevent judgement day from ever happening. Thus ending the franchise
It doesn't make them irrelevant though. Skynet (due to become self-aware in 1997) was in fact prevented in 1995. Too bad future-skynet ended up sending a T-800 to 1998 lol.
Sky net was inevitable, because AI is inevitable. These were machines that were sent back between the first movie and before sky net was blown up. Since AI is inevitable, legion grew into what sky net was going to become, since sky net company is gone. Killing John Connor only gave Sarah the motive to destroy all machines sent back. The transition from 2 to dark fate was actually good since it followed the same timeline . Just the future was changed. What this movie really needed was the soundtrack artist from the first 2 and a little more horror setting like the first movie.
T2 was just T1 but shinier.

I'm still confused about the alternate timeline theory. Every time I watch a movie where things are changed, I'm puzzled about this conflict. 1 timeline to rule them all, or alternate realities. Can't decide.
I think they Skynet sent multiple Terminators through out time, I think its 3, could be wrong about that, but they must have sent this one "first" and then they sent the one from The Terminator and another one in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, I could be wrong about that tho
Don't bother. The story ended with T2. The rest is a meaningless cash grab feminist brainwashing. 2 cents I should keep in my pocket because it's not worth it.
t1 and t2 are perfect. you can ignore the rest. 3 was kinda ok ish when it came out as a fun popcorn movie, but not as good as 1 and 2. salvation was boring. genisys was a mess, they tried to do a soft reboot and screwed it up. this is insulting. this is malicious, this is cultural vandalism.
Well genesis is a big mess. Since supposedly it is Sarah and Kyle and the t800 that end skynet.
If they hook up after the movie then John would still need to exist and now we would have two Kyle Reese in the same timeline? It’s sarah the one that tells young john that “genesis is skynet”
Now this movie seems to get even more complicated. Since this terminator actually finished his mission and just decided to keep on existing and became self aware but based on T2. They would have to access his chip and turn the switch. And then we get this weird situation with the t800 and Sarah
“Hey, sorry for killing your son. We good right? Yeah… we good 😊. So…..I magically know when terminators are getting sent back and will help you find them so you have a new hobby in your life that could keep you occupied so you don’t think of John
And also they ripped of the idea of this movie from family guy since it was Peter griffins idea with a jaws sequel
“We will have the events from the first take place again, but now it will be the humans, jaws and bigger jaws. Now that bigger jaws came in the picture, humans and jaws need to team up to take on this new threat.
Skynet(t800) and the robot lady(I don’t know) vs legion🤣🤣🤣
The moment everyone decided to immediatly get a refund.
An absolute franchise destroying scene, WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!
James Cameron, apparently.
Women
James Cameron brought the franchise into the world I suppose he has the right to take it out of the world.
how did it destroy the franchise, it’s not like it’s part of the main timeline, all they did was essentially begin a spin off
@Drey's Games please shut up "ThEy OnLy KiLlEd HiM BeCaUsE hE's WhItE" is the stupidest thing I've read all day.
......well at least the Terminator got that vacation he needed, I guess.
I wonder how many people left the theater and demanded their money back after this scene.
Terminator Zero anime made this scene obsolete shrugging it off as another "separate timeline" technically making John Connor both alive and dead in different timelines. I highly suggest you watch it if you haven't.
yeah but legion would probably still exist even if john is alive
I always wondered what a terminator would do after it would complete it's mission, like would it just self-destruct or just go about aimlessly until it wears off on its own. This scene didn't answer that question.
It was stated later on that through learning, however, it became self-aware. During that time, it learned from humanity and developed a conscience, taking the name "Carl" and adopting a human family. It also lives in Laredo, Texas and owns a drapery business.
@@ETH5626 I hope you’re joking but at the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised
@@lolstalgic9602 watch the movie this terminator ends up helping Sarah later after gaining sentience
@@ETH5626 I actually like that concept just not this movie. Either that or they self destruct but t800 clearly said he can’t self destruct so i would assume they just live the rest of their robot life trying to blend in and doing robot things. Like standing in a t pose for hours, days who knows or maybe he’s a more social terminator and likes to study humans like he was doing over the course of t2
He gonna look for some lava to jump into
These films don't exist. Only T1 and T2.
How could James Cameron let this to happen????? Damaging the story of t1 and t2
He's the one who conceived the idea
the only good thing about this scene is the impressive cgi work to recreate the actors almost exactly the same way they looked over 30 years ago.
Yeah only impressive thing in this entire movie
If only this was also done for Terminator Genisys,
there were way too many miscasts in the 5th film.
For a brief moment, it almost felt like it was 1991 again.
In a way, that almost made it worse. Because it made the destruction feel even more real.
I remember seeing this scene in theatre and being like "well this has just immediately killed my confidence in this movie".
Same!!! How did James Cameron possibly think this was a good idea?
@@superjackster0165 Tim miller lol.
@@bowens9869 Actually, killing John was all James Cameron’s idea. Tim had nothing to do with that decision
@@superjackster0165 nah it was Tim idea since he talked not believing "a chosen one" in films lol
@@bowens9869 Look it up. James Cameron came up with the idea to kill John. Tim is only the director of this film. He wasn’t involved with the writing of it
Lol I remember when half the cinema got up and left after this scene. It was hilarious
They should’ve all walked out. Modern Hollywood deserves harsher criticism
I bet it was now that image is put in my head. It's just chairs 😁
You're such a liar. Stop lying on the internet.
As they should
This terminator should get a reward, he did what every terminator failed to do.
The ones programed to kill that is
The T 850 from T3 killed an adult John Connor
@@newhybrid101was just about to say that lol hell even skynet itself in genisys did it too in the beginning as well
@@newhybrid101 He was selected because of emotional attachment John felt to his model number due to his boyhood experience. That helped him in his infiltration.
Kill the franchise?
Funny how we all thought the same thing "this completely ruins the first two movies" and yet the writers didn't. Bravo Cameron!
Hard to believe Cameron gave a blessing to this gaffe
Killing John was his idea
@@superjackster0165That’s exactly what they said.
@bregowine Cameron also gave his blessing to Genisys. He doesn't care about this Franchise.
This ain’t James Cameron, it’s the T-1000 impersonating James lol.
This scene was so well done the restoration is done phenomenally, imagine if it was utilised well and John wasn’t killed off to be replaced by hollywoods finest.
congratulations to James Cameron for destroying one of his best sagas with just one shot
One of the most infamous
scenes in film history.
Aside from the saying, being a slap in the face of the franchise, it’s also heartbreaking. No parent should have to watch their child die.
And this point their is no recovering for this. John Connor was the original, main and real protagonist of the entire terminator franchise. Whether he is just a child, a fallen hero or an unseen character, John is the true hero of its entire franchise.
And just like that he is gone with just a couple gun shots. This scene not just disgusted fans it disgusted the cast to the point where john's previous actors admit that they hated what the directors did to their characters
And this is why nobody trusts James Stinkron
I'd say the 1st two Terminator movies are more about Sarah than anything else but yeah I agree with everything else
After this scene ended I was waiting for sarah to wake up to realize this was just a dream but when the movie continued I said: bye loudly and walked out and bought tickets to avengers endgame.
😂😂😂😂😂
This franchise was over for me after T2…
“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
In this scenario this does not apply to John, it applies to James Cameron,.
"Hey, let's make the whole objective of the franchise pointless, we need more female protagonists."
I just can't believe that this is cgi. Their Terminator 2 Judgement Day apperance is just flawless!
They’ve done a great job with re creating these characters it was just a shame they didn’t use it for a better idea
0:49 the moment the franchise died
Dr. Peter Silberman : Relax buddy, you're just dreaming, it happens after trauma like this.
They should added t1000 coming from the other saying "Come with me if you wanna live".
Not only is it awful that they would do this… but it’s somehow even more insulting how FAST PACED this whole scene is, it barely lasts a minute. Shows absolutely no respect or reverence to John’s character or T2.
And then later, Sarah gets all chummy with this same Terminator. HOW? WHY? The Sarah Connor I remember would've gone insane with rage
This basically made T2 pointless.
And T1 too for that matter
