I am just goggling at this car. What an absolute lust-worthy vehicle. I love the Panamera sport turismo but this plays into my eco sensibilities as well
Tom! You can easily regen these cars if it has Innodrive. If you drive it hard, over the limit; but have innodrive set to the limit, and then let off the glass so the innodrive kicks back in going up and down hills, it’ll break and regen faster/more. I drove in Colorado at really aggressive speeds, went 65 miles, used 18 miles of range….Porsche has this thing built well!
Tom, do you have $140,000 I can borrow? No, oh, ok. MOM! Great car, along with the Panamera, but aren't P-car prices getting a bit too crazy lately? I think I might have to blame Magnus again on this one; he always seems to make Porsche car prices go up. At lease my WRX is the same color... 🏁
Great review as always. I wonder if someone someday will sell a little box that when you have 50 miles to go and only 40 miles of power left - you could just get that box out of the back and plug it in to get - another 50 miles or so? The EV equivalent of that extra gas can. Just a thought. If you invent that, I would like a small kickback.
I like the minimalist yet functional interior, but the exterior profile is a bit awkward. Still, I’d love to drive one if I could justify spending that kind of money on a car. Glad you got to experience it, Tom!
FWIW; I saw a recent review where the owner was having trouble recharging his Taycan so the dealer asked him to bring it in. He reached 0 a couple miles before he reached the dealership, & the car went into some kind of limp mode, but he was able to drive it into the dealer lot.
Does the GTS feel noticeably faster than the 4s? I’m torn if I should lay the extra for the gts, but I was hoping for a little more performance than the 4s
Outstanding and out of my price range, like every new P-car. Question for you then: a 1974 Porsche 914 1.7L four cylinder, or a 2003 Boxster 2.7L, for about the same money. We have a Tesla 3 (LR AWD) and i miss the handling in my old '89 944t.
@@DrivenCarReviews well, the prepurchase inspection, plus oil change and compression test, that each would go through runs about $750 US, so let’s assume both would make it through fine and are pretty close to stock or equivalent in rebuild. I live in snow country and these would mainly be for fun and driven weekly.
I’d go with the Boxter, if for no other reason for the engine sound. (Make sure it’s had the IMS bearing issue fixed though.) Sadly, your Tesla will out accelerate it, but there’s just something about a Porsche’s soul the Tesla can’t touch. I previously owned a Cayman S and love that mid-engine performance feel.
Nice review and scenery on this one, Tom. Thanks for keeping in the parts about technology not always working properly as it made this review feel just a bit more personal.
Nice review, looked like a fun day out. For me personally, I’d rather have the Panamera GTS Sport Tourismo.. a lot more interior space and much better noise
one pedal driving is just a term that tesla generates it's the lack of engineering to deal with the power recycling and braking feeling what Porche did here is a true engineering that makes us feel nothing when the braking power is recycled it's a day and night difference from engineering stand point of view
I wish Porsche would have a demo show rooms to view these in person, maybe a couple is each coast at least. The dealers never have a cross turismo in stock- they quickly sell what ever stock they have in this market. Factory ordering a 110-200k Taycan wagon without driving one (or at least sitting in one) in person is a bit of an ask from Porsche.
It's now the third best selling model and it's constrained by capacity. I remember interviewing the CEO six months before launch and he said production would be around 20K annually. He seemed genuinely surprised when my eyes bugged out. He asked "is that too high?". I told him I thought it could sell 60K a year. I think it was jacked up to 45K or something.
You really have no fucking clue about the styling quality of the Porsche Taycan. The Taycan is in fully Porsche design tradition, which makes "sense". The Lucid is just a totally overstyled newcomer, but nothing more. "Lucid Air" is a fugly boat compared to the Taycan. How can you compare this piece of design crap of a totally newcomer in this industry with the technologically and design leader in this industry??? Just forget about "Lucid Air", because "Lucid" is executing a totally wrong dogma with this EV. "More and more, heavier and always heavier batteries", that's what Lucid really think is the answer for the EV future??? What an idiocy! Lucid is just a typically American "bigger is better" bullshit company, which almost has a touch of 1980' mentality... like in the Reagan era! But today we have 2022, and this decadence like in a Lucid you won't find with Porsche EVs. It's not that impressive, having just a "more and bigger" mentality, you clown.
You swoon every time you get behind the wheel of a Porsche. I don't blame you, I would too. If I remember right, the first time you were on that road with a Taycan, you had to have a Porsche rep for the entire drive. I supposed you felt a little less restrained this time out. Hope you took advantage of that. I keep thinking if I were in your shoes, I would just tell them that you lost the car somewhere in the desert and hope they believe the story. Wouldn't it be great to drive the GTS all the way back to Seattle? Might be worth the risk.
The first time was in the hills of Malibu driving the Cross Turismo prototype. No restraints, he was there for the interview, which was very enlightening. The concept was governed to 60 MPH if I remember because, well, it was a handbuilt prototype.
Car amazing, but do you have to have all that stitching, GTS monogram and the rear seat looks really tight for real people. Tom is not exactly tall. lol, and his sneakers look jammed into the front seat bottom. What's the point of this style car if not for some adult room in the rear? same complaint I have about the current ICE Macan. Thanks for the review
Great looking rich person toy, so glad it probably gets an EV tax credit because rich people really need the help.... I'll take a Supra 3.0, Telluride SX and an Ninja H2 SE with change left over... Keep up the good work Tom looking forward to the EV6 and Ioniq 5.
You don’t have to rich, you just need to pay more than 7500$ in taxes to get the full credit. Well, you have be rich to buy this 150k wagon- that’s true.
For as long as I have lived I’ve been exposed (via Car and Driver, Road and Track, Motor Trend, CAR and now RUclips) to automotive writers singing the praises of outlandishly expensive autos whose sole purpose is to go faster than anyone else. Sure, you can go to Costco with it but are you really going to take the chance of getting your door dinged parking next to the unwashed masses? I think not. Dream on Tom.
I've driven plenty of expensive cars and no one has damaged them intentionally. It might happen but I won't live with that kind of apprehension. It can be fixed.
I am just goggling at this car. What an absolute lust-worthy vehicle. I love the Panamera sport turismo but this plays into my eco sensibilities as well
Go get one then :-)
Tom, your B roll footage is amazing. I was fooled for a second thinking it was Porsche stock footage. Bravo!
Tom! You can easily regen these cars if it has Innodrive. Great Review Tom. I understand your love for Porsche.... they're great.

That already exists.
These are really nice (that roof shade is awesome!), but I'd go for a Cayenne GTS myself.
Loved your video. I test drove the 4s and loved it. I guess the GTS must be the one to own. Thanks!
Beautiful car and that footage…. Very impressive!
I think ive seen this video at least 3/4 times since when it came out, this video is so informative.
Yep The number one reason I started my RUclips channel: an excuse to eventually review this car and keep it!!!
My favorite part of this video was seeing you and the water bottles all being thrown back together after you floored it.
Love the review! I had the same trouble with the gate too 🤣
Just saw this Ben. Yeah, technology was not my friend that day. Other than the Taycan.
I like the minimalist yet functional interior, but the exterior profile is a bit awkward. Still, I’d love to drive one if I could justify spending that kind of money on a car. Glad you got to experience it, Tom!
I suggest looking at it in person. This doesn't photograph the way it looks.

You forgot “Taycan” in the video title!
Your minimalist but effective scripts are on point. 👌🏼

Great review! To quote Tiny Tim in this season, since I can’t have any of them, I’d sure like all of them!
I'm posted overseas and hope to get a used one in 3 years...assuming I can find one for less than $100K by then !
Waiting to see in person. Right now leaning back to Sedan.
I would have a hard decision. Both look great in person. Maybe both.
@@DrivenCarReviews yep. I am saving for one. Will be most expensive car i will ever purchase and won’t get another at that price range again

Try the 4S Cross Tourismo as it’s a wee bit cheaper, but rides better and perfect for your Seattle environs 👍🏻
Burst out laughing at the gate part lolol

The unique styling of the Lucid Air is much more attractive to my eyes, especially for the money.
I do appreciate the unique body style of the Lucid, but the Taycan is so much better proportions wise, and I love the hint of Porsche identity

The first car in my dream
Looks like a practical Porsche
great review 👍🏽
Great video!
The Gundam of electric sport sedans.
Made a guitar cover video for Gundam.
informative review ... thanks for making
Trunk looks pretty small but the car looks awesome. Hoping Audi can bring an allroad e version at a more sensible price
Aren't they working on an RS6 estate/wagon eTron that will fill that gap?
Nice ride! How was the sound system?
For the very little listened to it, a good Bose system. The Burmeister would be better.

True
Not long enough behind the second row doors to be a wagon or a shooting brake.
It's a 4 door hatchback.
Hmmm, show me the rulebook Marcel.
Make more money? Thank you for making it sound so easy.
No rear pockets would peeve the “Evil One.”
It's why he didn't even bother to show up
Time to upgrade your electric car, Tom 😉.
TP test? Nah.
Ski test? Oh yes!
The water bottles at 6:08 😂
I left those there for a reason
Tom - Would you choose Taycan GTS or a 911 GTS?
Me personally? The Taycan. That doesn't mean it's the right one for others though.
Dude who activated the garage card for Tom
Not cool man
We called the hotel
Hey Tom-title missing “Taycan.” Not that this car needs more names.
Oh well...
This looks way cooler than the panamera
Sadly it doesn't have the v8

Another Porsche review another Porsche paid comercial, zero objectivity all good all beautiful.
Sometimes it's all good and all beautiful. I do point out the console lid, rear foot room and lofty price. Those are not so good.
EV would never be a reason to make more money!

It's a buy once the range will get to 400 miles. Otherwise it's just an expensive toy
Where are the hover cars? It’s 2022 car year and the future is dead and we got resource hungry battery cars 😂😂😂. It’s such a scam lol
It's only a scam if you put $20K on a hover car
Ok Hyundai/Kia, make a car like this but more affordable.
Looks as fun to drive as a tractor trailer.
Let's be honest, you just wanted to drive the car longer and blamed Google maps
Google maps on a crappy iPhone. No thanks 🙂
Or crappy Google Maps on a good iPhone. I have terrible luck with Google Maps.
Google Maps, and Waze, have both fallen mightily over the last 6 months. I’ve experienced numerous routing issues, where they used to be bullet proof.
I find Panameras really ugly, great review though, as usual.
This is a Taycan
