- In this video, I show you how to start a lawn mower. The process is really simple and it is easy to get the hang of it. Different makes and models have the controls in different locations, but as long as you can find those controls and associate them with the ones that I am speaking about in the video, the tutorial will work for almost any lawn mower.

The blades are sharp, very sharp. The one minus that everyone should be aware of is you need to be very careful taking the cutting unit out of the box. There’s a plastic guard so you don’t cut fingers as you take the main unit out of the box but it’s not taped down. As I took the unit out, I ended cutting a piece of my shirt. The plastic guard moved and my shirt touched one of the blades.

I know this sounds stupid but im a 26 y/o woman and my dad would never let me do yard work growing up. he didnt trust me with a mower or sheers etc. He was a little old fashioned and left me to do the housework instead. Now that my dad has been getting older and is sick often and my brother is always a no show when we need him to help around the house, I've started learning to do things my dad wouldn't normally allow me to do so I could be helpful. this video is simple but I learned a lot by watching and your explanations were quick. There's an old lady about 2 houses away from my place, I'd say she's about a little over 60 or I'm not sure if she looks like that because she smokes a lot. This lady lives just with her dog and she does all her yardwork,from cutting her grass to trimming her bushes.

My mom told me that women in our family weren’t allowed to mow lawns because her cousin somehow mowed like, 3 of her toes off when she was in her teens or 20’s 🤦♀️ so I’ve lived by that until today. I can’t weed wack this shiz no mo lmao
I have been living in America for 14 yrs. Lawn mowing is not our thing back home. My husband never ever wants me to do outside job. Recently he's been busy having two jobs to take care of our financial hardship. Our grass keeps growing. So i looked around how to operate that machine in the garage. Aftet two days i did not find the right video how to turn off the machine. Then today i found you. I got up and did the job while he's in his office. I am so happy that i can finally did it. It's one of my big achievement in life. My husband was surprised 😅😅😅

I hear ya! I just started learning because my dad is getting older and brother is a no show. i want to be helpful. growing up he was old fashioned and wouldn't let the women do the hard jobs. so I had to do the house work instead.

My husband passed Dec 2022, I have alot to learn.

Some lawnmowers do NOT have a choke lever. Some use a primer bulb, which should be pushed and then let to return to normal, then repeated two more times.

Thank you so much for this! I grew up living on several acres out in a rural area, sort of a hobby farm, so I have been cutting grass since I was about 9...on a mini tractor/riding mower, lol! My family only used a push mower to get around the trees close to the house, not for the majority of grass-cutting, and my mom usually did that particular chore. So I never had to use a push mower. I am now living in an apartment in a city and am doing some house-sitting this summer. One of my duties is to cut the grass around the house, and I suddenly realized I wasn't sure how to start their mower. I really appreciate this video for helping me to figure it out on my own!

Ours had a little rubber button to prime the engine. I had wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday, but had to call and ask him when this didn't work for me. So if you see a little black rubber button, push that a few times before yanking the cord.
