  • Embrace your inner karate kid and move your way through the traditional Martial Art of Goju-Ryu Karate-do! Join experienced karate instructor Liz Janze to explore the traditional martial arts, using your mind, body, and spirit to enhance eye-hand coordination, focus, and physical literacy. Throughout the course, participants progress through fundamental karate techniques, including punching, kicking, and blocking.
    Karate-do, translating to "empty hand" and "way/path," signifies that karate extends beyond self-defence-it's a way of life. Engaging in karate practice emphasizes power, agility, balance, and stress management. Beyond physical aspects, training in karate strengthens the musculoskeletal system, improves muscle toning, and improves posture. It also boosts concentration and self-esteem.
    This inclusive event is designed for individuals of all abilities-no prior experience is necessary to join. A modified seated version of the movements will also be available.
    We welcome all individuals with Parkinson’s to this exercise series as well as their spouses and/or carepartners/caregivers.

    Sensei Liz, really enjoyed training with you today, love your tsuski jodan, chudan and gedan accompanied by shuto jodan, really like your soto uke’s to, taking a strong stance in zenkutsu dachi displaying shuto uke for us girls to warn a potential male attacker we train in karate !
