That you could CATCH the laziness from someone else?! What if we told you that laziness… can come from a PARASITE? Oh you heard that right. We’re talkin a nasty little critter that will stop it nothing to hitch a ride on… well… YOU! It’s true Brainiacs. There is absolutely such a thing as a parasite that will cause you to not want to do anything, and will even lower your IQ test scores. The creature in question is known as the hook worm, and for the longest time, it actually went undetected in society. People were walkin around, feeling terrible, and they had no idea why. If you wanna know the whole story, you are in the right place. Today, Brainiacs, we are talkin about the story of the hookworm, and it’s place in US history. From when it arrived here, to how it spread, to who discovered it, to how we finally contained it. Let’s just say, at one time, it was everywhere. Seriously. We’ll also give you a few tips and tricks to keep yourself sanitary, which will absolutely help you not pick up this little menace. I wonder if it's possible that hookworms caused the Southern accent. We do learn how to speak from our parents and those around us and at one point, in 1910, 7.5 million people in the South had it. If everyone's IQ and mental processes were being affected, in places where the parasite was more rampant the drawl should be thicker, right?
