    I recommend if you cut half the side branches off, and bury 4.5-6 inches instead of 3, same process as you’ve done.. also the reMaiming growth shoots, cut the ends about 2 cms back. This will remove at least half the growth tips. This is essential to reduce the AUXIN anti growth hormones being sent from the tips downwards. To keep the tips growing instead of new side shoots. This is how the plant knows to grow side shoots when the main shoot(s) are lost.. the lack of anti growth hormones travelling down the stem..
    So if you cut the growth tips, the vegetative growth hormone is lessened, and suddenly the ROOT hormones can take part in growth, sooner than 9 months - this would be the growth tips going dormant from lack of supply, then diverting growth to the stems for roots,
    The problem is this time is long to keep cuttings healthy from rot or drying.. by removing active growth tips, the plant can easier decide what to grow first - roots. The. Quickly comes the return of vegetative shoots.

    You gave me confidence. I can keep soil temperature around 65F so I have more than 100 Scopularum heel cuttings in since watching the first time. Now I have identified 3 other junipers, a bushy Sabina, an Ashe with good tight form and a rare variegation of an unidentified columnar juniper to get cuttings from. I will do some air layers for bonsai and I really want to name that variegated sample after my dog.

    be careful with using those knives. i had one pretty similar and did like you show here at 2:10 and the tip of the razor blade broke off and was flying to the direction of my face, just a few centimeters from my right eye. i was saved, thanks to Jesus.
    a better way i think to use sharp knives is to have them steady and with the stem or whatever you are cutting, holding and moving that one only while the knive is still. needs some practice but in fact afaik its easier too. not saying it wouldnt make the same bad experience i had while using these razor blades though
    also, i suggest to be a child of God. thanks for sharing your experience

      It depends. It's always better to have patience while the plant grows and doesn't require your ICU 😀. Relax and plant it after it grows significantly.
      In my place, we plant directly into the garden by making all mixture in localised pits so that we don't risk to lose the plant while transferring. It continues to grow there and we just provide manure around them. 🙏

    Nice video Dada. Can't we use cocopeat in growing Juniper cuttings?

    • @BeTheCREATOR
      @BeTheCREATOR  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Bobby, certainly you can. if you use cocopeat then no need of perlite, you can mix all three also. soil should be moist and it will need special care for 6 to 8 months.
