      What?
      Most kitchen knives have a belly too.
      It's the same technique, you just pull the angle away to match the angle of the belly.
      It's common sense brother, you need to have the edge against the stone at a set angle.
      If you can't do it with full swipes yet, break the blade up into zones. Just be a bit more careful about counting passes if you do that.

    Honestly using a stone to sharpen or hone your blades it's kind of dumb. Why would you want to spend hundreds of dollars on basically what is flat stones for you to mess up your expensive knife? What you need to get is a worx gx knife and Tool sharpener. You can legitimately put a katana Edge on a butter knife in under 3 minutes. I turned to stop sign into a shavable Lethal Weapon and under 10. I took flat 1065 bar stock put a Beyond razor sharp edge on it in under 15 minutes. Just a regular flat piece of Steel. So honest and truly if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive stones just to work for hours and hours and hours to realize your Edge is more messed up now than when you started. Get the worx GX knife and Tool sharpener and see results immediately! Don't listen to this guy. He's trying to teach you how to sharpen your knives using a technique that has been around from the beginning of sharpened metal. They say slow and steady wins the race. Well not in this case. He's literally teaching you how to ruin your quality knives. Because are you really going to take the years and years of practice to learn how to sharpen a knife on a flat stone properly? The answer is no. With the worx GX knife and Tool sharpener you can legitimately learn how to be an edge master in under an hour. So you can listen to this guy if you want but... you've been warned.

    Apart for being such a stupid gimmick type trick, it isn't even very effective. If you have blades with various widths, this technique will produce quite a variety of edge angles.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 года назад

      No not really, I've done massive amounts of knives, all come out great. You can always change the angle you want, the point is to have a reference point to hold

    This is wrong. Clearly it's too shallow. What's it? 16 degrees?

    • @NeevesKnives

      This was about 18° which is perfectly fine with this geometry infact I could have easily went lower

    You can't find the center of your thumb without marking it?

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  25 дней назад

      Yes I can but the point is that you want to put the exact same spot on the exact same spot otherwise if your off by a few thousands the angle is different and you will be convexing. I have no issues doing it without this is something I used to learn with so I teach it to others

      Yes just lock your entire arm and use your body by rocking in and out or back n forth, you might have to raise your elbow slightly with knives that have bellys

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  6 месяцев назад +1

      just a little, you want a bit of pressure when sharpening no pressure when removing the burr. as long as you can hold the angle when sharpening you are fine regardless if pressure is more or less, so add a bit but not to much that you cant maintain angle
