Wow, amazing run 🏃♂️. Perfect execution. I always love watching people hit their running goals. Side note, it's awesome that your wife is out there supporting you. I always love it when my wife and friends come out to cheer.
Massive congratulations 👏 What an epic memory you’ve created there! You paced that to perfection - looked like you had just enough left in the tank to speed up in the last few km. I’m going to be aiming for sub 3:15 this year and then if I can keep it together, head for the 3 hour mark myself one day😬
Well done and good to say hello at the airport. I had my GoPro in my back pocket but never had the energy to get it out. Not sure if I am imagining it but a few minutes ahead of me (I did 2:59:52 on chip - phew!) there seemed a bit more space. That said I never really felt I had to chop my stride or anything. Yeah that walk back seemed a long way but was good to chat to a few runners. What next for you?
Yes indeed, quite a hassle to get out the camera every 5k but worth it for race video :) Thank god for chip time (we only realised afterwards), super happy for you!
Thanks for your message Liz! Glad you liked the video! I'm normally not the type to do that to be honest but I was so overcome with emotion at the end of the race (I couldn't believe it!). Do you have any races coming up?

Thanks for your comment! I've been 6 days not running just enjoying the aftermath but so eager to get back to training now! Are you preparing for a marathon?
@@quintvanbeek just take it easy for 2-3 weeks before you start up your running training again.. let the body recover well so that you avoid injuries .. do some alternative training with a low heart rate. Thanks for your comment Chris! Looking back at the race I was actually very calm before the race (not usual for me) In fact I managed to get around 7 hours of sleep the night before which just shows I was calm, normally I don't sleep at all the night before the race. It felt pretty easy until about halfway (which I guess is how marathon pace should feel), the last 10k really hurt 😅 I just saw your marathon video! Whats next for you?
Congratulations on a great run Quint! I followed some of your build up videos as I was aiming for a similar time myself. Didn't see you out on the course but we finished within one second of each other so did see a few clips of myself in this footage 😃
Thanks for your comment Danny! Yeah it was a hassle to carry the camera along the way but worth it for the video! Looking forward to seeing what you will do next! I might also give triathlon a go!
@@quintvanbeek No problem mate. have subbed you as well. I will transition back now to specific triathlon training. Probably do a half marathon tho in a few weeks. Give triathlon a go - a lot more to think about and train for but it's a great sport. Great running Quint and well done on smashing your goal. You being in Malaga reminded me of my Malaga Marathon, such a beautiful place! What next for you? 🤔
Thanks Poet! Would you recommend the Malaga marathon? I haven't heard much about it. Next up some shorter stuff 5-10k, hopefully a sub 1:21 half attempt and then a fall marathon! How is your preparation for London marathon going?

@@quintvanbeek awesome. Yep I am running my first marathon this year which is NYC in November. Been running for a few years but never tackled the marathon yet. I can totally relate to the niggles and injuries after doing a certain amount of mileage (usually over 45 miles for me). When I start my official marathon training I will probably cap the mileage at around 50-55 and incorporate some cross training as I am terrified of getting injured again lol. I used to do triathlon so I still have my bike and indoor trainer which is nice source of cross training for me.
