    I'm the orange person in the thumbnail at the finish. That was my first marathon too. Wasn't even aiming for a sub-3 but everything went right (at least for the first 30k - that last bit was horrid). Well done!

    I'm the vegan runner you passed at 10:50! It's great to find out that you made sub-3, I was wondering how you got on. Massive congratulations! You paced it perfectly and made it look easy! It was my first marathon too, and I was also hoping to go under 3 hours, but I missed it by quite a bit in the end. I held the pace until about 21.5 miles in and then it all started to go wrong. I finished in just under 3.15, with Michael. It was a great experience though, I'll just have to try again now!

    • @TheVeganRunner
      @TheVeganRunner  3 года назад +1

      Ah that’s great - nice to ‘meet’ you again - I saw in Michael’s post that you both finished together 💚🖤 I’d heard a lot from others that you pay for going out too hard at the start so I tried to hold back a bit. It was around the 22 mile mark it got tough for me too and the last couple of miles was about holding on. Amazing experience as you say and huge respect for anyone who runs a marathon after that. Have you got anywhere in mind for the next one?

      Haha that’s fair! I’m looking at Brighton in April… sounds flat and fast and would like to mix it up as I have a tendency of running the same races (think it’s the park runner in me!). Any idea what you might train for in between?

I got into it just before Covid, running in the peak district, but then during lockdown I wasn't able to get out there any more. • @TheVeganRunner
      @TheVeganRunner  3 года назад +1

      @@coops111s Have you tried a LTHR test to determine your zones? A lot of people get frustrated when they start with Z2 as they often find they need to stop and walk or go a lot slower than they’re used to which feels deflating at first. Those that have stuck with it, and walk when they need to get the HR back in the right zone, soon find the body adapts and you can run longer/faster in Z2. I had to walk a lot of hills when I first started with it, my HR would jump out of zone straight away. Now I can run a local, mile long hill into the top of the moor whilst staying in Z2 😊

    Nice one Lee! Amazing achievement... and carrying a camera for the whole time too! Does the camera hinder you much?

      It definitely affects your arm carriage, and creates a little bit of an imbalance but you get used to it. Thanks for the kind words John and for watching 👍

      Thanks mate - it felt pretty causal until the later stages; I know what people mean now when they say marathons start at mile 20 😬😅
