  • This ship has gone through a rollercoaster of emotions. First it was blatantly overpowered. Then it was kinda okay if a bit disappointing. Now it's very strong but manageable and far better Balanced.
    Also featured but not shown off here is my Symetrical Conquest build and gaggle of Drover escorts, but those will have to wait. Going to be doing some tweaking of the fleet composition and ship loadouts before capturing some footage and making a proper video montage showcase of "How it feels to play Midline" or something along those lines.
    This was my first real usage of video editing software and I kind of just, made it. Not 5 minutes after I had it Rendering I was regretting not doing some bits and leaving braindead traveling segments on the cutting room floor. Live and Learn.

    After they took the drone bay of the brilliant, I feel like the Remnant has become so much easier to deal with. Of course if you struggle with fighters, take the MIRVs of your Pegasus and put up some Locusts.

    I wonder if more budget ballistic options (Arbalests or Autocannons) would beat out the Hyper Velcocity drivers if you're always fighting at those kind of ranges?

      it has been a consideration not gonna lie.
      but i decided to just swap the hardpoint HVDs out for HACs (among other weapons)

      "Officer Extension" also let's you "demote" officers to respec their skills. Very good with Level 7 pod officers because we all know they can have, eclectic, skill allocation

    Nice 'The Princess Bride' reference.
    AI Pegasus can work but ya gotta equip it right. Hydra with its 50% more ammo will keep it active longer, and it's pretty effective for the first part of large fights where its mostly smaller ships being fielded. A full Hydra AI Pegasus can hold off waaaaay more than its DP worth, and it tends not to overkill by much. Rather, the problem is more that it shifts its focus to defend itself more than securing kills. But it works out alright.
    Also you can make your own flagship last longer and be more effective by focusing on targets that actually deserve the 4x MIRV spam. You're in a capital ship. You can hang back and wait for opportunities instead of forcing yourself to do max DPS at all times. Follow your ships that can take care of smaller stuff without expending your finite missile supply. Or swap out an HVD for a Mauler so you can smack frigates and destroyers for free, and take 1x Squall to make up for the lost kinetic damage source. 3x MIRVs are more than enough to erase armor. After armor is gone Squalls are decent enough against hull, especially since shields are still in play until overload, which means less MIRVs into shields and more into hull.
    And it's fine if the enemy backs away before you can get the kill. It puts them out of the fight for a bit, and next time they're much easier to kill. Again, you have the time. So long as your expenditures of finite resources is efficient, it's all good.
    Yeah stuff on escort is very derpy. Not very reliable except for just floating nearby on your flanks and rear, and firing at anything in range. I prefer to give rally orders on a location, then they're free to fight as intelligently as they can, even backing way out of their ordered area of operation to keep themselves alive. Escorts....don't have very good survival skills. They love getting in your way when you're trying to kill something, and don't like letting you bodyblock for them when they're about to die. Monitors, carriers and missile boats are about all I'll give escort orders to.

      Oh yeah, probably unpopular but viable choice: put IR Autolance into the medium energy slots. With a burst build like MIRV spam, Gravy beams do next to nothing but eat up your precious flux for an 8% shield damage boost. 4x IR Autolance is fantastic for a ship that can instantly erase armor. Saves a lot of ammo since you don't have to overkill as much with MIRV spam to secure kills.

    pegasus fit so much in midline ship doctrine, its just average on almost every aspect, so it make sense if midline capital relly so much on missile.
    alex bring back 4 large missile is blessing.
    meanwhile low tech invictus has so much promis relevant with low tech doctrine, high armored ship.
    but why alex made invictus just like clay doll, we need pre nerfed invictus with armored glitch, it need 4 minute non stop salvo from eradicator to bring it down.
    thats how gimmick low tech should be in my opinion.

    I just prefer the Cyclone Reaper instead of the MIRV on player controlled ships. Spray them with dual SQUALL and you'll never run out of ammo unless you shoot from too far and miss

    It would be better if the AI would only fire missiles only when the enemy had a certain number of flux, maybe 75% or so. Of course not for stuff like Sabots, but I'm sure someone could make a mod for it. Using hurricanes as expensive shield destroyers hurts my soul.

    6:36 I really want to show this to people who keep saying Pegasus is OP, because actually it is not and once you run out of missiles you basically become sitting duck. Yes with rapid missile load system you can have the alpha strike that can take down a capital, but then? What will you do if a stupid gamma glimmer or lumen just get rid of 1/3 of your missile ammo while there are still tons of destroyers and cruiser remained you need to kill to win the battle? Actual battle is not an simple 1v1 dual between capitals and for that Pegasus is not really great especially against large Ordos with more than +800 DP amounts of ships. It is not a go-to win battleship but one with huge weakness, just as other capitals. The one need to be get nerfed are Remnants.

      Yeah I really need to clean up that clip (but keeping the SNL bit) to make a quick and simple clip on the primary weakness of the Pegasus.
      Because what I did in the video (just bring more to pilot later) won't work for people keeping under the 240 DP limit

      Yeah, Pegasus may act OP - when piloted by human. But it shares main weakness of any missile-heavy warship - AI is crap with choosing worthy targets. I mean, I once simply allowed fleet to do whatever they want. Hands off, no control. 80% of ships decided that chasing that evil, evil Glimmer is highest priority in their lives (while shooting all the missiles). While several _very_ confused destroyers were left staring at Remnant armada.
      On the other hand, this is exactly why I love having a Monitor in the fleet.

      As all of my officers are in frigates, I have monitors for accompanying the 2 flank teams, and made sure they are doctrinally reckless to burst down.
      I maxed Leadership Tree to perform both flanking and decisive battle tactics.

      I think Devs need to change the system from rapid missile fire to autoforge that Grifhone currently has, It will perfectly solve the current balance issue the Pegasus has and make it more stable and versatile.
