AWESOME camera review! I have the Note 9 and I love it, I think it depends where you come from. I had the Samsung 7 Edge and it is an awesome camera upgrade. But I must admit that this year the iPhone XS Max has a superior camera. Unfortunately, for the money, I preferred having 128 GB+ , headphone jack, fast charging, finger print unlocking (which is blazing fast), no notch, super AMOLED display, a case out of the box and the S pen, which I surprisingly use on a daily basis. So, yes, it comes what fits better to your lifestyle and the overall features of the entire phone. With the Note 9 I feel like I can have it all, no compromises.
Yes, but I think it's not included in the box, you have to buy the fast charger. And I still prefer Note 9 screen, but as I said, it depends on your likes and needs.
Not really. If he wanted to go to the next level, he could do a video showing pics and videos without naming which phone took them, ask us to vote for which we like the best out of them and ask us to name which phone took them. If he put up say 20 videos and 20 pictures from each phone in random order, I am betting not one person gets them all right and most people would get less than 50% right. Also, they may end up, when he gives the results, ultimately, finding that their preferred phone didnt do the best job per their own voting.
Evan N Well it’s better and worse. The XR has a far more advanced processor, a better single lens camera, faster wireless charging and a better portrait camera with faster Face ID unlock. But the X has a more premium stainless steel design, and also has dual lens capabilities for long range shots, and the gaussian blur effect is a little better because of those two lenses. Obviously it’s smaller but that’s a matter of preference. They’re both great, the fact the X is still one of the most powerful phones after a whole year is a testament to Apple’s excellent custom hardware and software optimisation.
its not automatic beauty mode. Look at appleinsiders video. The more aggresive your HDR is (ie the more photos it takes and stiches together) the more smooth details become. This is great for keeping highlights and shadow details but at the expense of detail. Thats why the faces look smooth. Infact every photo taken with the iphone i can guarentee up close is a blurry mess because that have tried so hard to be aggresive with hdr to compensate for their iphone x camera
This video shows just how far ahead Google Pixel camera was 2-3 years ago. But now Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and even Oneplus have all caught up, since Google hasn't changed their camera in the last 4 years.

Note 9 user here, but I think finaly Apple catch up and the XS is better overall. Pixel technology is interesting but looks fake most of the time. @@TheMr0k1 you probably can't and I do not care. My point is that to compare cameras shots, if you are not the shooter, you need a reference shot to evaluate picture accuracy.

Honestly I'm an Android guy, and for the past couple of years i've been bashing the Iphones for not being up to par with Android devices, but since IPhone X I can admit that they really are one of the best phones out there. Still, I don't think I would buy IPhone since customization isn't really that great, and I enjoy that a lot about my S9+, but nontheless, IPhones are doing a great job in all aspects. When it comes to the camera I don't think it matters whether you but a Pixel, Note 9, XS Max, or anything similar, I honestly think we all know that there are some small differences, but they are not huge, and do not justify getting a different device just cause of slightly better zoom, or slightly better video recording. Nowadays, you can't really go wrong with the camera when you buy a (flagship) phone from Apple, Google, Samsung or Huawei, it's mostly preference and subjective opinion.
I too also really loved the quality of xs max and Pixel, the live focus of selfie camera on note 9 is just not good and so as the camera. In my opinion
I'd pick iphone xs. The level of HDR on the front facing camera and videos from both front and rear is mind-boggling. Google might have the edge on post-processing on photos but its clear the actual camera sensors are the main factor of an overall good camera. Just look at 1:09

XS Max takes this one because of its far superior video recording capabilities For still photography Pixel 3 takes the cake Note 9 did ok however its front camera is trash
The reason why the iPhone doesnt have blown out background on the selfies is because it uses 2.2 aperture compared to Note 9 at 1.7 and Pixel 3 XL at 1.8. Look at 5:03 the Pixel uses a slower 2.4 aperture wide angle lens thus making the background clear because it lets LESSER light in the lens. But I also have to admit that iPhone's smart HDR helps a little bit to balance off the dynamic range
indians do not compare this the note 9 is 68k pixel is over 82k i phone is over 100k almost double the note 9 if u do this comparison note 9 is the best choice
That wide selfie camera from Pixel 3 is lit. The HDR management for that particular camera is lit af. Overall iPhone Xs wins this but at the cost of skin smoothening.
I’m and iPhone user, I’d say that between some of the shots between iPhone and Pixel 3 it’s a matter of personal preference on how it turned out, but would say they’re both equally good and would be satisfied with either. The Note 9 seemed to be the most disappointing. But in the cases of low light back camera photography, that’s where I felt the Note 9 had won. And in bright light, the iPhone pulled farthest ahead with its HDR feature always capturing the background without blowout. I feel that a best representation of selfie camera in low light would to turn on the front flash, since no camera really can take photos in the dark that well, and I’ve found the Retina Flash really makes all the difference in the world. However, I always try to turn the camera around when taking a portrait photo of myself since it’s still going to be the highest quality. Fortunately for me I have the Apple Watch and can frame my photo using the watch screen. All in all, I’d say iPhone seemed to be the most consistent in good quality, the pixel 3 would be right on its tail, and the note was still a bit behind. Having two cameras on the front for the pixel is a great option, but since I’m not much of a serious selfie taker, it wouldn’t do much for me. But if you do, that’s a really great thing to have.
I've seen a few camera comparison videos of these phones already and this is definitely the best one. Although I'm still not going to buy it I think your test makes it fairly undeniable that the Pixel 3 XL has the best camera out of the three. I don't know whether it's something to do with "Beautygate" but the iPhone seems to do something really strange with skin tones. The Pixel seems to get the tone and facial detail of faces about right but in this particular test the iPhone seemed to be giving your face a strange orangey tone with too much smoothing out of the facial detail relative to the others.
@@mpete0273 I don't think the gap between the two cameras is as large as last year but it still seems to be the case that the Pixel has a slight edge. Relative to the other two the camera on the Note is obviously inferior. Personally I would be interested to see a similar comparison with the Note swapped out for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
@@Evan-xs8ts I can't really argue with your position because I'm only going by the various camera comparisons I've seen on RUclips. From what I've seen the Note looks to be noticeably inferior in the camera department with opinions roughly divided about which of the other two is the best. Apparently though it's fairly undeniable that video and sound recording is better on the iPhone 10s Max. I'm only interested because I have some money to spend and I can't make up my mind which top end phone I should buy. Ideally I would be patient and wait for the Galaxy S10 but I'm struggling to resist buying something else in the meantime.
i dont know why youtubers dont compare with Huawei p20 pro .... i dont feel any point of comparison without it.(not blaming him but seen all ytbers doing same)
Amazing analysis. So much information here. Coming into this I was leaning towards the Pixel 3 but honestly my first impression is that I prefer the XS overall. If they were all the same price I would go with the iphone. I gave about equal victories to the Note 9 and Pixel 3. Like 10 shots each. The only thing I dislike about the Note 9 is that it is a slightly larger phone. The Pixel 3 dominated at very very low light but what percentage of shots will you take at 3 am in the middle of a field? Also I can't afford any of these phones. Cries in corner.
Yes, maybe it’s personal taste... but the iPhone XS, for me, is the overall winner... Dynamic range is more important than sharpness, because you can always add a little bit of sharpness or contrast... but the Pixel 3 XL’s images are too sharpened and the blacks are too dialed down... The portraits will also look better on a telefoto lens, because of distortion; I just wish the iPhone won’t blur the person’s body so much... The video and sound is also better on the iPhone! I am a photographer, if that counts! 🙂😉 Great review though! 👌🏼
All are good but your right it's personal preference as to what you like in your pictures. I prefer the pixel, I like that it's sharpened the images but that's just me.
What the iPhone does in portrait mode is simulating a real f-stop so if you open up the aperture it’s natural that the depth of field gets shallower. And if you don’t want to have the foreground blurred that much just dial down the aperture.
Bennet Mahler True, but it blurs the shirt (for example) too much, even at standard (like f5.6) settings... 🙂 It focuses too much on the face. At f1.4 it’s “unusable”, to my taste... Still overall better than the rest! 😉
KTA Motoc yeah I know what you mean, in my result it depends on how far away the person is, when your are doing a close up, the f-stop simulation is really accurate but further away it is not that shallow as an f/1.4 would be but like you said a smaller aperture is often to shallow
I think it speaks volumes that you HAVE to go this in-depth to pick one.... shows how far cameras have come that there isn't a blowout victory for any phone.
iPhone XS Max 55% Note 9 30% pixel 3 15% iPhone is able to keep the sky and most of the pictures on the pixel 3 seems fake and slow motion on the note 9 seems epic
Pixel 15 percent , are you crazy. Pixel takes best pictures and iPhone for videos. All three phones are good but to say 15 percent for the recognised best camera is insane.
Pretty damn close between the pixel 3 and iPhone. I think iPhone might be the more rounded camera if you prefer that flat image style. I prefer the more realistic colouring of images from the pixel. I'm really looking forward to seeing the pixels 3s new night mode when it's released.
I was trying to know the quality Pixel3xl's Super Res zoom offers. All other videos on RUclips were just mentioning it for 10-20secs. But this video throws light on it. Thanks well done
@jackt Nope, whether you like it or not that is false. Google Photos is not the same on iOS. And no it's not on/coming to iOS. Also Huawei is in the lead now with new Mate30Pro.
I hear you, try listening critically to this, 1. Ambient background noise, the pixel is horrible follow by Note 9. 2. Directional sound- the Iphone sound is well composed besides the base pitch, you can tell that recording device is front( sound not all over the place). In addition the sound is natural/realistic not too much of processingThe Iphone will be ideal for sound production/Vblogging on the go.

Vladimier Tan I was a Pixel 2 owner for a few months. The camera was good, but everything else was horrible. XS Max takes this one because of its far superior video recording capabilities
For still photography Pixel 3 takes the cake
Note 9 did ok however its front camera is trash
Wooooooow The Video Stabilisation On pixel is Really Insane..🙂😍
Your speaking voice is ASMR material. And your creativity is on a league of its own. Keep it up!!! 👍👍👍
The iPhone one seems best....
You're suffering from weak eyesight!! Pixel is best
Note 9
XS Max
Pixel 3XL
indians do not compare this
the note 9 is 68k
pixel is over 82k
i phone is over 100k almost double the note 9
if u do this comparison note 9 is the best choice
shaikh muzammil still people in India buy iPhone 4s just to show off

What the f**k are you talking about, can we stick to camera comparisons here.
Cereal Guy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂lmao Indians 😂I imagine them running naked making a house with clay while milking a donkey
InfiniteGamingZx I mean i get it, People make fun of indians and half of it is actually true but its not as bad as you make it sound.
When apple does something they do a killer job regardless of them being late to the party
I hate the selfies on the XS, but the cartoonish levels of contrast and sharpening on the Pixel also hurt.
That’s correct
@@mpete0273 I don't think the gap between the two cameras is as large as last year but it still seems to be the case that the Pixel has a slight edge. Relative to the other two the camera on the Note is obviously inferior. Personally I would be interested to see a similar comparison with the Note swapped out for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
@@craigthompson6466 front camera on the note sucks but I like the better fov compared to the iPhone
Ideally I would be patient and wait for the Galaxy S10 but I'm struggling to resist buying something else in the meantime.
i dont know why youtubers dont compare with Huawei p20 pro .... i dont feel any point of comparison without it.(not blaming him but seen all ytbers doing same)
Well, its not the latest released phone. He’s only comparing the latest phones in this video.
Maybe he make that video sooner.
Samsung has better microphone👌

Personally like the sound on the XS, but the Samsung is close (which is good as I have a S9+).
@@mouliknanda I think your english is not working
Great man.. You do so much of hardwork.. 👍👍
this comparison was long overdue......great mix of pics and great comparison here.......
Sound of iPhone XS Max is awesome😎😎
iPhone X’s max is the best camera
Really
You got to admit that dynamic range in the XS is outstanding, it's like it got the HDR mode on all the time.
Your channel is awesome and i don't know why you don't have more subscribers
You definitely deserve more than 10m
WOW THOSE PICTURES ARE AMAZING! I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS YOURE THE BEST RUclipsR
iPhone Xs Max for the win. It looks brilliant
I think it speaks volumes that you HAVE to go this in-depth to pick one.... shows how far cameras have come that there isn't a blowout victory for any phone.
dang i didn’t realize how weak the note 9 camera is until i seen the thumbnail. Hopefully the camera is way better on one ui 2.5
6:30 which one editor uh are using plzzz tell m
It's pixel's inbuilt camera.
iPhone XS Max 55% Note 9 30% pixel 3 15% iPhone is able to keep the sky and most of the pictures on the pixel 3 seems fake and slow motion on the note 9 seems epic
Pixel 15 percent , are you crazy. Pixel takes best pictures and iPhone for videos. All three phones are good but to say 15 percent for the recognised best camera is insane.
iPhone XS Max 40% Note 9 15% Pixel 3 45%
@@SiddharthNair nah, but I wouldn't say the pixel is 15%
*CONCLUSION* = THE WINNER IS THAT PHONE WHOME YOU LIKE

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP
Ayyyy Nottingham, you were literally recording 20 seconds away from my flat in Old Market
Pretty damn close between the pixel 3 and iPhone. I think iPhone might be the more rounded camera if you prefer that flat image style. I prefer the more realistic colouring of images from the pixel. I'm really looking forward to seeing the pixels 3s new night mode when it's released.
XS MAX is the clear winner..
Hopefully,i can buy it..
After 3 years maybe 😹😹😹
@Alek Wolf that's 3 years later lol at least I'm not gonna use it straight 3 years

@jackt Nope, whether you like it or not that is false. Google Photos is not the same on iOS. And no it's not on/coming to iOS. Also Huawei is in the lead now with new Mate30Pro.
Best camera comparison ever! Good job!
And (in terms of camera):

Eh, I think it's 1. Note 9, 2. Iphone XS Max, 3. Pixel 3 XL. I prefer the sound of the note I guess :P
Yeah but photo contest: 1. Pixel 2. Xs Max 3. Note 9

I use note 8 and i swear when i record my video on UHD 3840×2160 its just so amazing u wont believe that u have recorded the video with Mobile
But i dont know why when i see these comparisons Samsung video quality is soo bad
Maybe they lower the video quality just to look samsung bad
Mostly all.my friends have iphone but they always tell me to take there pics with my note 8 rear camera
But again when i come to utube its a different story
Are these all paid comparisons?
Yeah he is an apple sheep
Always try to proof apple is better over others
Whereas when i personally test it out
Samsung comes always better than any iPhone
Himanshu Chamoli exactly my point is

And note 8 is much better with video and pictures
Dont believe this utube pages they just making money from Apple

Yes,plus for battery test he use Note at 1440p not at out of the box 1080p
In addition he use performance mode on Note to drain battery faster
Himanshu Chamoli i know
Note is the Beast
They just lower the power of note so they can compare with iphone
That may have been the story last year. But apple have really improved with this years flagships. Its not just this channel, go check out other channels as well, you'll see the same results. I own a Note 9, but I have to admit that apple xs max camera is better.
The Pixel 3 embarrassed me and makes me disappointed.
Vladimier Tan I was a Pixel 2 owner for a few months. The camera was good, but everything else was horrible. The screen burned in in a few months, crashed a lot, kept on overheating, and wouldn’t let me access certain apps. DON’T get a pixel 3 if you’re looking for a good general phone. Get an iPhone or a Galaxy to save you from the hell that I went through.
@@indy187 I owned the original pixel and loved it. Switched to the iPhone 8 plus and hated it. Switched to the pixel 3 and love it. If you are a normal user and don't mind the same stuff year after year, and being behind in certain areas, I am sure the iPhone is fine. I personally can't stand the boring and limited OS. It is really all personal preference at this point. They all run great hardware.
whyd it "embarrass" you? I was impressed by it
Pixel 3 is rated the best camera phone right now
Yeah in conclusion Pixel 3 sucks, Note 9 takes realistic photos and iphone has more color and looks like it was edited
So much effort on this great review, keep it up man!
Very detailed comparison the three devices. The Video recording at night on the Pixel 3 XL impresses though. I would pick the pixel 3 XL in this contest. Google's single rear facing camera is well sorted out.
