I find you, your attitude, and your work absolutely delightful. There were only a couple of ideas I hadn't heard from others, yet it's the particular way of presenting your thoughts that I find so freeing. "Freeing". Such a keyword. I love your emphasis on this and your support in allowing ourselves to be free in each of the ways you described, Rose. I most definitely do not find your suggestions "wild at all....only insightful, thoughtful, and freeing.....all coming from your own particular experience. There is a lovely, relaxed casualness about it all that gives me the feeling that I can take a big breath and then release it in one big wooosh......and then BEGIN by simply picking up a couple of journals and starting to create without being uptight about it all and holding my breath because I'm sooooo afraid of making a mistake. So thank you so much, Rose!!
Yes!! That’s what I hoped it would inspire by sharing this video. It was a game changer for me when I learnt to be uninhibited and stop worrying about ‘ruining’ the page. The sketchbook works for me, I don’t work for the sketchbook! Thank you for your lovely comment 🤗
"If in doubt, stick it in" - love that! Great advice about not being too critical and allowing yourself to feel uninhibited and free (I never do that, but I'd like to!). Love your mixed media sketchbooks - so beautiful, fun, and free-spirited. I know I have enough RUclips artists subscriptions; but you are so wonderful, I think I will have to have at least one more! Thank you for this! 💕
Thank you Rose! These are wonderful tips and reminders , and yes, it's true that our sketchbooks evolve with us thats why I don't tear out or hide any bad pages, because I would like to look back and see how I have evolved. I love all these wonderul pages that you flipped through on this video, especially the ones with magazine cut outs. Again. thanks for sharing.🥰
Thanks Rachel 🥰 Being gentle with yourself and your work is so important. I am naturally very self critical but art is a healing process for me so I don’t want to ruin it with negativity! Thanks for watching 🤗
@@RoseWildsmith Same with me and it can really stop you from just getting stuck in! Your beautiful sketchbook pages seem (on screen anyway) to have a lovely sheen to them. Do you seal/wax them when complete to preserve them? Thank you.
I actually don’t tend to seal the pages because I like to leave my options open for adding more to them later. It could just be that I use a lot of acrylic paint which can dry quite glossy. It can be a cause of the pages sticking together sometimes so it’s actually a really good idea to rub a thin layer of cold wax medium or something similar over the top when you’re finished- but you have to be really sure! Because then it’s difficult to change things later!
Thank you Rose - you are so inspirational - very helpful insights. You are also really easy to listen to. I’m terrible at keeping up with channels I like so thank goodness YT suggests your videos and gives me a nudge! 😊

Lovely thoughts and words Rose, especially about being kind to yourself which is so important. Enjoyed this video a lot.
