    I’m so happy to hear you speak of tiredness. As an older artist I do suffer with some days just not having the energy. It tends to make me feel low in self esteem as surely just to paint doesn’t take too much energy 😢 it’s not a subject that seems to get mentioned very often. 🙏 You are a very inspiring artist to listen to. Everything you say sounds so real. Can’t thank you enough ❤

    Thank you Laura for each and all of your tips. I found them to be both unique and most helpful. Working on up to 6 or 7 pages at a time is a new idea for me and one I plan on giving a try straight away. I've also found it so helpful to hear you talk about not taking things oh so seriously......I definitely need to work with that one within myself. Also scribbling! I bought a bit of charcoal at Christmastime, specifically so I can try out your suggestion. I think it's going to be so much fun getting to see you on RUclips. Thank you for sharing both your time and talent! 💞💞

    Such excellent & doable tips. Now I feel I know what to do when I get brain freeze at my art table. Thank YOU for continuing with RUclips. I've learned everything from it. I personally dislike reels. They have their place, but are often TOO FAST with no detail to be found. I love the longer format.

    Thank you so much!! I’m brand new to all of this and having a hard time figuring out where to start. This was hugely helpful! I need to be working in a journal for sure, so I can just play and start to figure the different mediums out-how they work. I’m thrilled you’ll be doing more on RUclips. It’s definitely my favorite place to learn!

    Thank you for the video - I love revisiting the Creative Blend content! I have been trying to balance taking breaks (due to exhaustion/long work hours) with the idea of spending at least 10 minutes on art every day...swatches, a sketch, or some sort of exploration. I'm using the 10-10-10 approach that you mentioned in your podcasts. I add in art as a 4th "10" and it is helping me be more consistent with daily art practice, reading, walking, and yoga.
    BTW, great intro for the excerpt! 😊

      Hi Rachel, you’ve just reminded me about the 10-10-10. I’m going to start that again and include art!! Thank you so much for the RUclips tips you gave me. You have no idea how helpful that was. I’m not super savvy when it comes to RUclips and I’m really happy with the little extra bit I added to make things clearer! Richie also thought it was a great idea ❤️ We’re very appreciative!

    This was really helpful Laura. I miss the podcast but seeing you here is a real treat. Thanks for the great tips. As a relatively new artist I’m okay with approaching blank paper but blank canvas and boards are definitely harder. I’m going to try my Lyra 6B water soluble graphite crayon to start my next canvas. Don’t know why I hadn’t thought of that, as I do use it on paper.

    Hie Laura. Thank you for all the tips. I am just an amateur collage maker and love all kinds of mixed media. So, in reality i should be able to use materials freely and eaisly. But, on the contrary, i am having a very hard time using materials. My fear is not fear of empty paper or making mistakes or not being good enough... But rather fear of wasting stuff. Before using any material, keep on thinking what if later this wouldn't go with that one, what if i feel sorry later on for having wasted this nice gelli print design or a unique postcard? I see and envy some of you artists so easily -even with no hesitation- take a gorgeous vintage postcard and just tear it apart and add it to their collage piece.. But also to my horror, see that you might paint on it or glue something else on top of it, cause you just feel it that way, that moment... So again my question is then why did you stick it there? I do get it, it's all about experimenting but it's also about wasting at the same time. No? I am watching so many youtube videos of mixed media art or collage pieces being made, i keep on thinking about this, and can't let go of this feeling...I wonder how i could get over this? Perhaps by using photocopy of materials initially? And not "waste" the originals? Maybe? Thanks for being an inspiration Laura.

      @susanorban3059 Год назад

      I totally get what you are saying/ feeling about the covering perfectly nice/ pretty things up that you've just glued down. I don't get it! But I want to try because I really love collage pages. Guess we just have to maybe start 3 or 4 pages and see what happens. I think that just the actual process of doing - not necessarily loving what happens on the page is a big part of learning your style and building confidence. There are times I look back a couple years at the art I made and go! Wow! I really love that! It just takes time and lots of doing. Just try to have some fun and enjoy even the little things.🥰

    How do you keep the drips off your floors, walls?

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  Год назад +1

      I have a drop cloth on the floor, but I don't worry at all about the walls. I am painting in my studio, so it's fine for it to get drippy and messy. When it gets too much, I repaint the walls white again. You can get plastic sheets with adhesive that you can apply to walls if you are painting in a room where you can't get paint anywhere. Or else, do the more drippy stuff outside weather permitting.
