  • Are you wondering how to prepare for the CKS exam? Hear from Dan and Sam, as they share their experiences preparing for and taking the CKS and CKA exams. None of the information in this video is a secret -- everything you need to know to pass the exams, is already available to you. We will help you learn where to look, how to study, and give a few exam-taking tips!
    Pro tips:
    1. Use tmux! If your exam is interrupted, or you want to go back to a previous question, tmux is the best way to save your progress. github.com/tmux/tmux/wiki
    2. Create a notes file in the exam environment. We have found the notepad and question flags to be unreliable. If you create a text file, it will be there even if your exam is interrupted.
    3. You get two free attempts at killer.sh/ so make sure to use them both!
    4. Get familiar with the documentation you are allowed to use during the exam. When you need to look something up, you want to be able to do that as quickly as possible.
    5. Stop Googling things :) you can't use Google on the exam, so stop using it while you study.

Same thing happened with my camera as well. Super blurry while showing ID. Super annoying😂

Got CKA certified today. New remote desktop Interface was not bad but should not take the exam on Laptop screen which would limit your space. Use external monitor.

Congrats on your CKA! Do you have any feedback on the new testing environment? I've heard the new terminal experience is much worse than it was. We may have avoided directly answering the question 🤣 What do you think - is your CKA worth it?

@@DevsOperative Just took my CKA today and yeah the new terminal experience is okay...could be worse-could be better. My buddy who took it earlier in the summer said it was a lot better where you could use your own terminal etc.
      Womp womp.
EDIT: I would mention the bigger your monitor, the better. I initially did my first exam on my 16 MBP and it was do-able but not the best. Second time I used my 38 inch ultrawide, just zoom in to 100% and you're in business on the RDP.

@@mugensekai Yeah it definitely makes it a little more awkward. Luckily they still include a free retake 😂
Are you going to get the CKS now that you have your CKA?

@@samdelamarter yeah I might plan to get it this year depending how much I really need to dive in but I feel like CKS would really help elevate my understanding of a lot of things. Granted I've been working a lot more on the infra side with TF compared to K8s since I got my CKA 😆
