When you guys first open Live 12, don't close the demo track, instead save the presets on the demo track, there's some goodies on there that aren't in 12 natively. Happy producing!

@3:30 is this a specific MacOS thing? Because it ain't working on my M1 running MacOS 11.7.6 Also, anyone knows why it takes so long to Freeze a track as the projects get bigger? I also use Reaper and the equivalent Freeze and Flatten (Bounce in Place) is so fast regardless if the project is small or big.
Is there a way to add a shortcut to do two things? I'd like to first Duplicate Track, and then Freeze and Flatten, cuz i never want to lose my original rack, just in case
in piano roll instead of cut to the grid you can also join midi notes with (windows) ctrl+J, i wish that they also map "back" and "forward" in the browser to the back and forward of the mouse (like for example, explorer or internet browser) instead of clicking like a monkey on the arrows 😛
Is it “Freeze and Flatten” or “Freeze and Flatten Track”? Because I’m the menu it’s different from what you typed in the menu. (I can’t get it to work but could make the ‘Collect All and Save’ (Cmd Shift A) work. Edit* Had to upgrade to IOS Sonoma and it worked perfectly.
haha I been using the beta for a while now and freezing and flattening tracks with that new 1 click solution a bunch and didnt even realize it was a new feature. I used to do the freeze, then flatten. I had somehow convinced myself that the one-click option button had always been there
Can you not set full-screen midi editor to a single hotkey?? Its my most used quick command and I have to press command+alt+E which is kinda bs. Also they should put a Return Track button back. My other most used quick command… now buried in menus
You know what since posting this I have had intermittent luck with it as well. I know som M4L developers - im going to see what they can do as far as a quick key for it ill keep you guys posted.
Yo I wanted to let you know, I reached out to a M4L developer and it turns out it works more consistently if the quick command is shorter. Mine is now command \ and it works every time.
Yo love the video man! Just wanted to give some constructive feedback & say the sped up effect on your voice is more distracting than helpful. You got some great tips in here, you don't need to rush em! Take your time and let us hear you
@@B1ggz13 I actually got to the root of the problem - my software was switching from mono to dual mono. Should not be an issue moving forward - thanks for the heads up!
It sucks that freeze and flatten eats the whole track. It doesn’t solve the problem of having to dupe the track if you want to keep getting variations of the original. It’s never going to happen but bounce in place or flatten to new track would be ideal. Thankfully rolling sampler solves all those problems! They still need to add the ability to edit multiple clips at once. It’s kind of silly you have can only do one at a time.
@@nectariosm Shortcuts in ableton are a mess I agree, the shortcut for activating the return channels is something very important in my workflow and now I have to do it manually because they changed it to the mixer view, a view I don't use. Fortunately there is a way in Mac to create custom shortcuts inside multiple software, the only downside I've seen so far is you can't delete existing shortcuts, so replacing them is not an option.
@@SCabriales I don't use the new mixer either. I got 2 screens because I use Ableton. But it is very odd to see 2 shortcuts do the same thing, especially in Ableton Live that has such a limited shortcut functionality.

I bet you still can't preview a loop/sample and keep the loop playing whilst adjusting the preview volume. I could never understand why Ableton would overlook such a simple thing. The sample preview needs improving, it needs to continue playing whilst you change the preview volume, it needs a VST lane, so EQ can be applied whilst previewing, so you can cut the bass out of samples for example. It also needs to have the name of the sample under the preview waveform, so you know which sample was playing if you accidentally click off somewhere else. A button next to the sample preview waveform to let you find it in the library would also be useful. If Ableton implemented these basic things that should be there already it would be near perfect.
Haha upgrade is worth it brother. Remember, if youre any kind of student you can get 40% off AND they give you a license that can be used on two computers.
Flattening the track after freeze always took just a second, whereas freezing it can take even minutes with some big project. The thing they should’ve done is bounce in place, where you can actually select the part you wanna freeze and flatten. Imo this is no improvement to what we already had whatsoever.
I personally find the freeze and flatten button practical, however they have a M4L device called BIP that can do this that may be more consistent with what you are looking for!
If you're new to ableton I actually have a complete tutorial on my channel of how to use ableton start to finish geared towards those new in Ableton - this video was more so for previous users of 11 who were already familiar with the software. Hope that helps!

The demo is always available as a project and so are the presets, no need to save them.
Yeah I was quite surprised with the demo. I thought it sounded pretty amazing.
