Nice analysis. He's only 17. When I was 17 I was playing at 6' 3" 160lbs. Now I'm 210 and all muscle. He just needs the right lifting program and diet, so he can put on 20-30lbs over the next three-years. 10lbs a year is doable.
yea and it's not as much of a factor anymore.. the league's getting younger and lighter
@@marc-etiennemercier6584 Exactly. Small players can make the NHL and do amazing, it's the old GMs that are stuck in the past who make these guys fall. 100% size makes a huge difference, but definitly not as much as before. I think he's got potential.

As a Capitals fan, I'm hoping that we take a defenseman like Jiricek, but I think Connelly is one of the forwards that we might draft. I'm worried about Connelly's defensive ability, he seems like he might be a liability there. It seems like his offense might be good enough to make up for that.
I don't know if I should be happy or not if the Capitals draft him.
This kid would look great as a Bruin at 25!!

Took a bad penalty versus Canada in the U-18 championship by going for the head along the boards.
Five minute major in the 3rd period and it changed the outcome of the game instantly.
Many say it was not a major but a 2 minute, but the IIHF takes hits near the upper torso very seriously.

Connelly has way too much talent...a team will surely pick him up unless they find something really upsetting in his past. The guy is just a teenager and sometimes teenagers make stupid mistakes...like we did at their ages. Anyhow, Connelly and also Eiserman will surely outperform the spots where they will end up being drafted since they are both genuine top 5 picks which will likely go between 11th and 20th. However, I can still understand why a top 10 team would not take a chance on them !!!

I honestly would not mind if the Blackhawks drafted Demidov then traded up for Connelly. Connelly just seems like he has the skills the Blackhawks covet. The Blackhawks can always go RD in the 2nd round. Players like Dominik Badinka and Harrison Brunicke should be available in that round. Wouldn’t say no to Cole Beaudoin if he was still available with our fist 2nd rounder honestly, but that may be wishful thinking.

@nhldraftpros Beaudoin got some media attention recently for his freak athleticism. Evidently since scouts were seeing fitness videos and inquiring into whether they were faked or not..

If Connelly does not go top 16, a playoff team (16th to 32nd) will gladly pick him up since he is definitively a top 5 talent !!! I am sure all the teams will do their homework to make sure that he does not have anything "really bad" hiding in his closet !!!

Plenty of skill... but he looks like he's going to be high maintenance (will need to play with players who support his game... guys who win puck battles and who can finish)
ALL this kid needs is to put on a bit of fat and muscle then watch out he's going to be a good one. I'm predicting he's a top 10 pick.
He is 6 foot. I would take him late teens Eisermanis bigger but not the stick handler. See big upside. My Team the Hawks will likely go a RHD here. Unless they go Leshonov . Weird feeling Hawks might reach. And grab Inigla . This will be a wild draft.

Ive been hearing personality issues.... wonder if that is true cause that is a red flag for the hawks
I read into it not too long ago and it seemed like he was just an ignorant and immature 16/17 year old who didn’t quite understand what he was doing. From what I gathered, he’s educated himself and now he understands what he did wrong. He’s done things to help himself like getting involved with community service, volunteering, and he was a coach/assistant at a hockey camp for kids in Florida. He’s definitely shown some positive character development since his incident.
Red flag for personal issues but covering up sexual assault is ok for the hawks.
