President of Cyprus says his country is not involved in military conflict

- President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides said his country remains far from any “military conflicts” and “positions itself as part of the solution rather than the problem”.
His remarks come in response to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s televised speech, in which he warned - for the first time - that Cyprus could be part of his group’s war against Israel.
Christodoulides described Nasrallah’s threat towards Cyprus as “not pleasant” and said it did not “reflect reality". He emphasised that his country's role is no more than that of a “humanitarian facilitator."
"Our humanitarian corridor is a testament to our commitment to peace and stability," he told reporters at the University of Cyprus' graduation ceremony.

Cyprus as a former British colony had to agree back in 1960 that the UK would keep two areas of the island as their own or else they would still be under the rule of the British colonists.. I mean try opening any map if you dont have the time to search for the treaties, certain parts of that island is marked as UK even though the actual UK is all the way on the other side of Europe.. Cyprus has no saying or authority in these two areas of the island so literally the airplanes involved, are coming from UK soil.. Needles to say that the Cypriots, greatly outnumbered and outgunned fought to kick the English from their country and gain independence, to add to this Cyprus always had warn diplomatic relationships with both Lebanon and the Palestinian leadership 🤐

When Cyprus was fighting for Independence from British colonialism, they gained their independence from Britain by agreeing to have some of their land stolen from the British and for the British to have their bases there. The bases are sovereign bases for the British.

I know the Brits kept 3 Irish ports after independence and we had the Anglo Irish Trade War in the 1930s over it, devastating economically, thankfully Chamberlain gave our ports back in '39. Cyprus exists as is because the mainland Greeks tried to kill the Turkish Cypriots. These are Cypriots who spoke Turkish and are Muslim. Not mainland Turks. The British left Cyprus in the same state as Palestine but the only difference is that turkey came to save us and stop the war. Your ignorance to the facts are reasons why war goes one. EOKA which is a terrorist organisation which caused the coup in the first place is celebrated on the island. People need to really look at building communities instead of stating reasons why we are different. My family have been on the island for generations and we have traced our roots to realise that we have equal a small amount of Turkish, Macedonian, Italian, Middle Eastern and North African but are 90+ Cypriot. The Greeks claim that the island is there’s but do not follow the history of the island. The oldest burial of man and animal is on Cyprus predating the Greek empire. There was a native people who inhabited the island until the copper mines were found in Cyprus. So please spare the lessons of how the Greeks/greek Cypriots are the rightful owners of Cyprus, when the queen of Cyprus is buried in Italy. Learn your history and look to build a community for the peace of the world. Let Turkish Cypriots have equal rights as Greek Cypriots when the only difference is the language and religion.

Greek Cypriots had to ask the UN to intervene. It was the Greek Cypriots who let the tanks, guns and ammo come into the country to start the war whilst they were in charge. It was their failure to maintain their own island which caused the coup. And if the coup was successful it would not be Cypriots that converted through occupation of the ottoman era and those that stayed true to the Macedonians it would have just be the ones who felt that the land belonged to them.

What are you all talking about? 😂 Cyprus does not allow anyone to use their country for attacks! Cyprus as a former British colony had to agree back in 1960 that the UK would keep two areas of the island as their own or else they would still be under the rule of the British colonists.. I mean try opening any map if you dont have the time to search for the treaties, certain parts of that island is marked as UK even though the actual UK is all the way on the other side of Europe.. Cyprus has no saying or authority in these two areas of the island so literally the airplanes involved, are coming from UK soil.. Needles to say that the Cypriots, greatly outnumbered and outgunned fought to kick the English from their country and gain independence, to add to this Cyprus always had warn diplomatic relationships with both Lebanon and the Palestinian leadership 🤐
