I just started using Adobe CC and the best way in my opinion to learn is by going through all of the apps and just start messing with the settings using test pics and videos.
Your original video on thumbnails taught me so much! Excited to see what you have to say here. My process is to take my thumbnail photos before I film the specific video, so I don’t forget.
Sean: I drive my video assistant nuts with my OCD planning and shooting thumbnails during the video, making sure my eyes are in focus, that I'm projecting an animated version of emotion that will attract viewers, and making sure my head is on one side or the other, to fit the text I am thinking of adding to the thumbnail. We take several photos just like you do. I have lately been trying to limit no more than 5 words on a thumbnail. Years ago I read research on billboard sign advertising that said don't put more than 7 words on a bill board. Thumbnails are smaller so fewer words is better. I use phrases like "Which is better" "99% Don't Know" "Don't Ever Use these!" "Which is Better?", etc.
You know what's uncommon and very underrated? PowerPoint. I even make IG stories from PowerPoint. I sound crazy, but it actually works. Sean, what's your thoughts on creating thumbnails that do not include the actual RUclipsr in the thumbnails? You think it's not eye-catching? Or it depends on the channel?
I thought that RUclips thumbnail is very hard to create them But finally I got this masterpiece n now I know how to create thumbnail by myself Thank you so much for this particular video It's really helpful
I'm clearly your target audience... you're EVERYWHERE I go on RUclips. Video editing, motivational, psycholy, entrepenuer (Gary vee and the like), etc... You've got a good channel, can I suggest using other channels as well to promote yourself? namely reddit.
@@niespeludo Appreciate the support. I don't read reddit. I heard that you have to be active there to promote videos without being too "salesy". Thank you fro suggestion. Any other ideas?
@@osse1n All of that is true, look out for communities and subreddits that might fit your target audience such as r/GetMotivated r/GetDisciplined and never promote something as an outsider... redditors don't like promotional content that looks promotional unless it comes from one of their own (myself included here, although I can clearly recognize a good copy from someone who is new at promoting to communities). As for other ideas you could target followers of services that might align with your target audience such as betterhelp.com... Use similarweb.com to find their traffic sources and follow through on their social media, particularly IG. Try to look for similar profiles or related profiles that have an influence in that sphere and try commenting on their IG posts with something that generates value (this is exactly what you have been doing on RUclips and it works wonders... and yes, I HAVE been keeping my eye on you and what you're doing in this sphere). In any case, keep up the good work.
,,same thing happens to me every time I finished editing videos that’s the time I start planning or taking screenshots for my thumbnails. Thanks for this awesome tip.
Well, definitely need to go back to shoot specific thumbnails. Sometimes I shoot, sometimes it’s screen shot. I’m going to be more consistent with that for sure. Will also going to explore more photoshop and get my “search before shoot” game better. Thanks for the tips and reminder 😊
Absolutely happened the first couple times when starting with making the videos - "shoot I forgot to make a thumbnail". Quickly looking for eye capturing screen from the video, usually with a blurry motion or something...oh well, we've all been there at one point 😅 Thanks for the great tips! 👏
You always have the beat tips I've been watching since I began my channel a year ago I started with two subs and now I'm almost at 800 thanks to your videos
That Canadian Youth Pastor I use a program called Photofilter. It’s one of those programs that are still stuck in 2009 but it works well and I’ve been using it since I was a kid. I’ve never had to research any tutorials for it, it’s simple enough to work out how to use just by spending some time playing around with it.
This is actually my first comment on your channel even tho i have watched many of your videos and recive constant emails from you. I was about watching another video on this same topic and before the video started i just lloked to my right and saw this video, i didnt even wait for the advert to finish i just clicked this video to watch and its because you provide great content. Thank you Sean. Kwame Gyan from Ghana
@@TheHomeTrek Also just wanted to tell you that even I have started my own RUclips channel which is about Art and mainly Drum covers so can you check it out ??
I agree man, for some reason increasing Saturation and Contrast really makes the image POP. I may also point out that going back and changing old thumbnails of older videos can also be very useful and increase views.
I use to take pictures for my thumbnails, but noticed that people were not clicking at them. Now I take shoots from the video and use them as thumbnails. Great video!
Hey guys! Great stuff! I had a side question.... What would be a great HD camera for youtube videos that could handle HIGH HEAT... I do all my shooting in a hot garage around 100 degrees with a DSLR and the temp icon starts flashing.
Thank you so much for sharing how to make a YT thumbnail with Photoshop! My son, has tried to show me by walking me through it on the phone and I didn't get it but thanks to your video I think I got it, if not I will be playing this video over and over till I get it. Much Love!

I started with the site Canva to make my thumbnails. But then I got adobe creative cloud and switched over to Photoshop. I made several thumbnails with Canva and was a easy and pretty powerful tool to start off with.
I’m getting close to 200 subscribers now and I have Think Media and Video Influencers to thank for getting me started. I do like my thumbnails but if anybody has any suggestions I’d love to hear them! Shameless plug, I do woodwork and unusual artwork. Making tiny little metal Viking weapons have been some of my favourite videos recently. Anyway. Keep up the brilliant work Sean! I sure wouldn’t be here without you! 😁 (in the name of constant self improvement, I watched this video to the end even though I already like my thumbnails) lol Edit: I shoot separate thumbnails for most of my videos (generally 20 or so different photos). Then I edit them in Photofilter, an old program from the 2000’s that is simple to use and very effective.
Believe it or not, I use OLLLLLLLD software called Microsoft PhotoDraw (2000!).....I've use it successfully to create designs for a cafepress shop, to create graphics for Amazon FBA, to create imagery for a victorious political campaign, and now for a youtube channel I'm starting with another account (Social Work Technologist)... just starting that channel, but it may finally be my motivation to move over to Photoshop/Gimp, etc. Also use PixelLab on my phone..... thanks for ALL the content and inspiration!

When you did the End Card tutorial, I purchased Snappa for a year. It helps me a lot for my Thumbnails and it's so much fun! Question: Which app has the motherload of images and clipart? I need another graphics app to supplement the Snappa app. Thanks Sean.
