First thing I did when I got my 730d 2005 was change the air, oil and fuel filter. The fuel filter was absolutely minging…
Was just about to change my fuel filter with original filter on from 2011....really useful, thank you 😉
You’re welcome 😊
Great informative videos. I’ve also subscribed to auto doc and I’m very impressed 👍
Great simple tip and clear video, often overlooked service to help prevent those running issues, keep the fuel tank away from reserve level to prevent drawing up sediment from bottom of fuel tank and then the easy task of removing the fuel pumps, ( Not).
🤣
Brilliant George! Now to replace the fuel filters on my 3 BMWs!
Have fun!
Bit by bit things get done!
It was interresting to see inside the filters.
When you said 2 filter I through the other one would be in the tank and a pig of job to do :)
Yep getting there man!
Great job💪
Cheers mate!
Great job car looked fine underneath
I think so too!
Nice job 👍 interestingly the hydraulic lines for the dynamic drive are on the opposite side undertray, would be good to check that for leaks to diagnose the dynamic drive error
I think the main leak is on the anti roll bar 👍🏻
You ever thought of licensing these videos, 🤔 they're very clear and easy to understand, I personally wouldn't know how to go about it, but it must be possible, isn't it ?
For BMW Parts to last that long , the car must have been quite well built. Beemers are beautiful cars .
I agree to be honest!
cool video yet again, loving the content. Are you doing a live stream this month and if so what date
Cheers Gary! Should be doing a livestream on Friday
Both OEM fuel Filters were from Mahle (Not available through Open market)
Yep sadly
Cracking video - really informative. Does your 760Li drive any better as a result of replacing the fuel filters?
Thanks mate. Not sure yet, haven’t been able to drive it properly as it has a new issue😅
I'm going to have to check my filters now! I've only done 80,000 but I have very little history from previous owners so be worth checking!
Always
Good
Where is the fuel supply sensor located on e65?
I´m surprised how thick the Aluminum casing of the original Filter is
Try and keep the fuel level above a quarter, in other words 1/4 = empty. That way you wont suck up all the sediment at the bottom of the fuel tank and very, very quickly start to block your new fuel filters.
Is it the same a the fo1
Great content mate! Looks like you are curious how the thing looks like inside after all those years 🤔. I do the same 😅
Haha I had to know what 18 years on a single filter looks like!
@@GeorgeAusters 😂
Test drive soon??
Hi George: Have you thought about replacing your 105 degree thermostat with a 90 degree one? It is frightening to see the temp rise to 107 plus in slow traffic from the around 90 degrees or so it runs at when you are on the move. I am going to do so to reduce the strain on the cooling system - including my new BimmerFix that I recently installed along with all the hoses and waterpump.
@@GeorgeAusters It only runs hot when standing still or slow traffic and apparently is only done to help them pass emissions tests as it slightly reduces emissions (a few per cent only though). A sort of BMW "cheat" devise I suspect. The downside is that the cooling system is totally stressed in traffic - leading to leaks and failures. Apparently M type BMWs run the cooler thermostat ... a clue perhaps? I suspect MPG is little different when running at 95 degrees (as it does on the open road anyway) and 107 degrees in traffic. Check out this - I know they want to sell their thermostats but ...... electrorefit.com/product/cold-thermostats-for-petrol-engine-bmw/
You need a 4 poster ramp carl like yesterday !
It’s on the cards when I get my own place👍🏻
Nice videos ! Do you know if the f01 730d 2009 has two filters as well ?
Thanks
It will likely only have one
@@GeorgeAusters thanks a lot ! Need to service mine , wanted to be sure before hand ! Great videos !
Did mine on the X5 recently and they were original aswell, black inside and i wondered how the engine actually got any fuel ??
Crazy isn’t it!
Did you feel any change in the cars performance arter that?
I'm thinking of getting the Ista d diagnostics from the source you recommend. Can you do a dpf regeneration with it or would a foxwell NT510 be better?
You can do everything with it. The kit includes ISTA D,P, NCSEXPERT and dummy, INPA and lots more!
@@GeorgeAusters cheers George
No problem Mark!
@@GeorgeAusters I've ordered it.
The fuel return fuel filter vents fuel from the high pressure fuel pumps leakage line back to the tank not the fuel rail. Fuel rail return goes into the fuel supply line which is 87 psi spec from BMW. Also be careful not to break the cheap plastic "y" line at the main fuel filter. You could always replace it with a brass material. It's just more BMW crap.
George is there any improvement in the performance or mpg after the fuel filter change?
Haven’t taken it for a good drive yet mate
@@GeorgeAusters Please give us a update once you take it out for another spin. I have a e46 convertible and a e91 that probably could do with a fuel filter change. The e91 n47 consumes 9.5L/100km which is alot and in a previous video you did mention that the N47 diesel is a economical engine. I had the manifold cleaned at a garage and I saw the before and after photos and it was not as dirty as the one in your video and I did not notice any improvement in performance or mpg’s.
Will do for sure!
What made you change the fuel filter was was the car running bad or you just changed it because it needs to be changed did any engine lights come on indicating it or what? If so what was the codes
Changed it because it’s never been done
P.S is it a good thing to clean your fuel tank from time to time? 🤔
You can if you want but it’s something I’d only do if I was changing the fuel pump or if the car had been sitting for years
My car wont drive with quater tank in it
Can you still import parts from Germany without import duty. Auto doc have been vg when I have used them as long as you get the right parts returning is a pain.
Yes👍🏻
Did it make difference to the running of the car? Acceleration? I had a code for fuel filter and when I changed it the difference was night and day! Yeh why wouldn't ya do the fuel filters? At he time it had 170k miles and on the original filters! Crazy!
I'll be taking for a proper drive once I sort out an issue it has
@@GeorgeAusters looking forward to it! 👍
When are you going to carry out similar services to your e87?
No fuel filters on the 130i... only in the tank👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters oh... is that specific to the 130i or is that across the E87s?
Pretty sure it’s the same for all petrol 1 series
@@GeorgeAusters very confusing. I've seen videos of fuel filters on the E87.
@@YusufIslam1 Were they diesels?
Did you de presurise the fuel system first.
Nope👍🏻
That's brave
👍🏼
🙌🏼
Mate I feel like I'm looking the mirror since I bought my 225d msport I've been going round changing everything possible as I don't trust previous owners maintenence of my car I think you have that same mentality
And I can't see why people would give a thumbs down on the likes? Your vids are very informative to bmw owners I'd love to here why they didn't think your vids are worth a like your pleasant and well spoken you don't look and sound like a nut case like bmw doctor who needs to breath and slow down when he talks before he blows a gasket😂
Yep... I’d rather know jobs are done and know my car is going to be reliable compared to skimping out like the previous owners
Me too👍
Yo George lad
Yo Simon!
Nice work but had to laugh but before you started the car it had 19 miles range and once started 16 mile you lost 3 miles of fuel just to start it wow
Haha yep! I can’t actually reset the MPG without the navigation unit plugged in
Lol some people just drive and drive, but the 7 series was a very expensive car... Those big engines will last 500,000 miles if looked after..
It need changing.
Definitely 😆
