    Thanks for another great video George. When I overhauled my cooling system and changed my coolant I also replaced the red radiator drain plug and the O ring for the sensor that fits into the bottom hose. The O ring did not come with the hose and I had to purchase it separately. This O ring is a common failure point I heard.

    Did this last week. Previous owner put some green garabge in it. I bought my coolant from dealer as it was the cheapest option around. $23 for a US gallon.

    The coolant that came out did not look too bad although it was only like 40 percent coolant. That engine looks clean.

    If your coolant is clear to start with, you really don't need to flush the system 5 times. It won't make any difference at all. Just make sure that whenever you add coolant, it is always pre-mixed at 50/50. In this video you are just wasting fuel.
    Also I'm not familiar with this particular BMW engine, but there may be some bleed screws somewhere on the engine to allow air to escape while filling the system.

    • @GeorgeAusters
      @GeorgeAusters  2 года назад +2

      It wasn’t clear to begin with, still had coolant in👍🏻

    Thanks for explaining, was thinking about how to do it lately. Wouldn't it be possible to blow compressed air into the system? To force everything out.

    Looks like I got a fuel leak from the fuel pipe on the passenger side. You think it has a quick disconnect fitting inside the plastic holder?

    Thanks George, this was helpful. I have an F20 with the B47 engine and the cooling system doesn't appear to have a drain plug. Would you recommend removing the lowest coolant hose on the rad as an alternative? Also heard that due to the EGR cooler being mounted high up it needs to be vaccum filled, what are your thoughts?

    • @GeorgeAusters

      @@GeorgeAustersthat's what every mechanic said whenever I wanted to change the coolant. They said the engine block can crack because of the the quick temperature change. Don't get me wrong I'm about to do a coolant flush at home and that's how I found this video and I was surprised that you change it with warm engine
