Donington Super Sprint with Equipe Classic Racing: MGB & Historic Cars

Footage here from the Final of the Equipe Classic Racing Super Sprint race from Donington Park. The final was my favourite race of the day, but I had not realised that the batteries in the cameras were running out. I only managed to film the opening laps but there is a least a fair bit of action.

I love the detailing the car has, not just the high polish but little things like the clean suspension to the chrome accelerator peddle stop. Would be fantastic if you had any footage of the beginning of the build and restoration that you could share with us. Even a picture slide/ video would be enough. Happy racing.

Very nice, the camera angles were spot on. Did you buy the car as a racing car or convert it yourself? And do the racing tyres have a harder sidewall? The one's on my MGB road car seem quite soft

Many thanks for your kind message, the whole car was built on a heritage shell, there is a good page here with more details www.britishracecar.com/DavidRussellWilks-MG-MGB.htm. The tyres on the car (Dunlop Historic Crossplys) are quite soft and do rub on the wheel arch on some of the faster circuits.

Hi David, Can you please tell me... what is the top speed that the MGBs get up to at Donnington? thanks heaps. :)

It's probably just over 100mph on the back straight, I do use a fairly short diff as none of the straights are particularly long.

@@davidrussellwilks thanks great to hear, I am building a car and it also has short gearing and a low budget engine, so about 104 will be my maximum :) …
