After finishing Michigan, I just jumped to Taymyr because I was a bit bored with Alaska when I started it. I bought a Khan 317, scouted a bit for the the Russian version of the Fleetstar 2070 and found the Tayga 6436. It kind of blew me away that after claiming it, I felt I had the most capable truck in the game. Now I know why it felt that way. Thanks Nathan!
I agree, the Tayga King is King for a reason but not my favorite. For whatever reason I go out of the way not to use this truck. Everything you mentioned is true, the game interpretation of this KRAZ is awesome straight out of the box. Good vehicle to have in the beginning of Hard Mode. 🤘😬🤘
@@lunseren There is the campaign mode, and there is hard mode. In hard mode everything you do costs money, fuel, repairs, auto loading, recovering etc. You get the idea. If you want to sell a vehicle, you get half the price, trailers cannot be sold period. Time cannot be changed in hard mode so you have to drive at night. Hope this helps. 🤘😬🤘

@@lunseren Sorry I misread your question. 😂. IMO only in the beginning because there are better trucks down the road. I do think that the Tayga is an end game truck but I tend to use trucks that can attach the holy trinity ( crane+sideboard+trailer ). My absolute favorite do everything truck is the Azov 73210. With the suspension upgrade there very few places that this truck cannot go. So the Tayga in my hard mode play through is on scouting duties. Cheers! 🤘😬🤘
I almost sold this thing because I didn't have the lift and didn't want to jump through hoops to get it. You're right though, it makes a world of difference and is definitely worth the trouble
Alot of vehicles have some hard upgrades to get to and its really hard to be patient. Im glad you held onto this truck though. It will serve you very well. :)
Getting the Tayga 6436 is easier than ever in Phase 8. Do a leisure drive from Crossroads garage to the railway terminal in the SW edge of the map to find a 6436 with large crane ready and waiting.
I made the effort to finally find and unlock the Tayga (used the exploration trailer to find the mission) before starting Amur. I figured it would be a shame not to have even tried what most would call the King (at least prior to expansions). I was somewhat afraid it would be a disappointment, but glad to say that it deserves all the praise it has gotten. While there are certainly a lot of other great trucks in the game, I can see how this thing got its reputation.
Very well grounded obsevation of the Tayga. I have to give credit where its due, and I believe this truck really is one of the best in the game for sure.
In the offroad class, I think the Vorons are its closest competitors, but the Tayga tires place it above. Also, the Grad doesnt have always on diff lock and isnt as stable. The AE is really great, but the smaller fuel tank is a handicap. As you said, the only thing the Tayga really loses out on is add-ons.
its not even nessecary to drag it back to the garage tho if you play on normal you can just refuel it with your repair trucks tank and then recover it getting the white western star in Michigan is way harder in comparison Great review as always nate

Hey have you seen the news about the PTS we are going to Maine in phase 6!!!! They are also adding a photo mode and there's a lot of new parts for some base game trucks!!! And a medium log carrier add on!! And they are adding a version of the ank mk38 without the sideboard bed and can equip regular add ons
Yep I have seen all the updates and actually have seen a fair bit of the pts and the updates. Concerning the ANK they put in a whole new version (civilian) so we will have 2 ANKs total in game. They said they couldn’t add things to the original ANK so they just created a whole new vehicle.. kinda sad about that one actually. I also saw the upgrades coming and such along with the medium logs. I’m really pleased with what I saw on the first map in Maine so it’s going to be a fun patch coming up for sure! :)
I hope so too.. so far though I doubt there are any new trucks. I haven’t seen or heard of the new MACK trucks in phase 6. Usually you can look in the truck store to see what was added. The only vehicle I have seen added is the ANK civilian. I will know more later this week I think as well. I’m really excited regardless:)
@@NProvince There is always at least 2 new trucks with a new phase, and I'm pretty sure the community update on Focus Forums also said 2 trucks. Actually I just checked and the community manager said "to help you in your task, an agile forestry vehicle and a powerful 6-wheeler will join your fleet." I pray that the "new" ANK is not the powerful 6 wheeler (although I wouldn't put it past Sabre). That would be quite disappointing. But some type of forestry vehicle is also getting added. We've seen it mods, but could a Skidder or K-700 type tractor be making it's official in-game return? With articulated steering something like that would class as agile? Not getting my hopes up, but it is fun to speculate.

I'm just starting Alaska and already have mine fully upgraded. I finished all but one logging mission in Michigan before moving onto Alaska so had all the upgrades unlocked via levels. without the Azov and Tayga available so early I think a lot of people would ragequit in Michigan after flipping the Fleetstar for the millionth time, or finding yet another hill the WWS is too weak to climb.
Although I loved my chronological playthrough, it was after I had 800 hours and more experience with trucks. Im a huge advocate of playing that way, I definitely get why people reach for the best like you explained which is great about SnowRunner, you can play it however you want :)
@@NProvince Yeah, I would only do strict chronological on a subsequent playthrough or a hard mode playthrough, by that point you know how to use each truck and the best routes to take
It is very good, but too good that it takes potential fun challenges away if used. Im doing a no truck purchase run right now where im forced to use what i find but when i naturally get to the tayga im going to sell it in exchange for a less powerful truck that cant be found like the loadstar. Its just to easy to get for what it is, and yeah i could just not use it. But hey its for fun.
That is true back in the day, But they have been altering the damage taken going down. Not sure if that has taken effect in Taymyr or not, but it was something the developers did that they were going to tone down. You are right, the balloons do take some damage
@@NProvince They've changed the damage system since the Tennessee racing update. It did improve it from what I've tested. It was a pain before the uptade
Oh I remember crushing my suspension just going down roads in Drowned Lands. Even some trucks with the advanced special took damage at times. So glad they re realizing off-road tires do not and should not get damaged from twigs on roads lol
@@NProvince Taymyr and Kola Peninsula (Imandra) had to be the 2 maps where I would take constand suspension and tire chips from just existing on those maps. It was mostly from pebbles.
Im not quite sure to be honest what would be my other picks. Good question, there are really good picks for those other spots, but this one for sure is one of those safe bets
I find thet depending of region i prefer to use different viacles. Usualy it is like in Russia Russian viacles. In America American. But there are exceptions and nuances. Speaking about my own preference ptobably my most favoryt viacle in SnowRunner is American M939 and i use it in USA and Canada extensevly. How ever when i am in central Russia my favorit American M39 is in storage room. My heart leans toward Russian Kraz 255B and Ukranian Kraz6443. Do not listen to logic. listen to your hear!
I’m not sure if I’ll revisit it or not. I might do a video where I talk about and show the changes on the upgraded vehicles. If I do revisit; I can make a short video on it to supplement the older review maybe. Good question
So I really am an advocate of just trying to branch out and use a lot of different trucks. Short answer, yes there are trucks you can use outside of the Tayga and have great success. In a lot of my videos I explain good ways to utilize those vehicles that are comparable. In short though; I think that trying more vehicles helped me to find more favorites. We’re all different and who knows you might like another vehicle you play. Hope that helps
It is a good truck, I’m Not a super fan like some, but I have to give credit where it’s due. I definitely feel it’s one of the best and that’s my best unbiased opinion.
Stability is not very stable though. i sped very high on the roads with custom mudtires, and it skidded when i was trying to make a turn and, you know, tipped. i don't know if you are using the stock suspension for stability or raised.
Great stability does equate to being impervious to tipping over. You can flip any truck if you try hard enough. This is one of the more stable trucks in this game, which is backed up by its weight properties and other testers. People rave about getting this vehicle right away because it’s that good. I don’t think many would revere this truck if it wasn’t
I was thinking the ANK Mk38 military version. They are coming out with civilian version but they are essentially doing the same truck with different addons. After that probably the Azov73210
I never liked the Tayga, I'm one of the few people out there that would call the truck over hyped and that actively voted against it when Sabre was doing their truck tournament a while back. I never felt the custom mud tires where that good. They have like a 2.4 mud rating, so they are meant to be some of the best tires in the game. But to me those mud tires can't get anywhere unless your in medium low all the time. I just don't feel like the stats translates properly to in-game performance. I use them on trucks like the ANK for the stability bonus, but I really don't like them all that much. And like you said the truck is damage prone, but not just any damage prone, but fuel tank damage prone. Which is pretty bad. Performance wise I've never been anywhere with the Tayga that I couldn't go with a Voron or really any other capable 6X6. And I just don't like how it drives, like I really really don't. I take it out for a spin once in a while but that's about it. I stand by the notion that Voron Fleet > Tayga.
Gotta say I'm with you on this.. I prefer the Voron AE over the Tayga. It's just as capable, in my experience, and it feels more "planted" and more driveable, if that makes sense. It feels like the Tayga bounches around a lot more than the Voron, and it's harder to keep straight.. And yeah, the Tayga tires helps with ANK's stability, but I actually prefer the ANK with it's stock tires, and NOT the raised suspension. A lot more stable in that config, and the stock tires are surprisingly good in mud, even tho they're not in the mud tire category.
@@TS84NO I'd have to look again, but I think the Active suspension when lowered is lower then the stock. That said though I just realised the new ANK will be great. Image a ANK that can finally attach a Step-Deck trailer, so basically a ANK that can't roll over anymore. That's going to be awesome. Yea ANK stock tires are pretty good, they are 1.7 in mud if I remember right and mud tires start at a 2.0. I prefer the look of duals, I sometimes give the ANK UOD II which are a 1.9 like the OHD I. I've used the UOD before to, I really like the look of them as they have a good thread pattern and are a bit fatter then the UOD II. The III's are only rated a 1.5, but I think they may have some background perks that help them out as they didn't feel to bad last time I used them. They also seem to handle the snow pretty well. UOD I I don't like. They are rated a 1.5 like the UOD III but I dunno, any time I've used UOD I I've just been getting stuck everywhere. Worst part is the scouts. I wish we had more options in Offroad and mud tires. For most scouts you got to downgrade all the way to All Terrain just to find something that looks like a truck tire rather then a tractor tire. But yea back to the Tayga, I think you nailed it. Basically "to light" is a good way to describe the truck. At least it feels to light and bouncy anyway.
@@justinlynch3 Ah, yeah I don't have the active suspesion (I only have the phase 1 maps so far, as I just started playing Snowrunner about a month ago, due to my old PC being too low spec for it. Got 163 hours of playtime on it so far tho, so definitelly a great game:P) Oh, and I had to check, and the tires I'm using on the ANK, are the ANKO 1.. And yeah, I agree with both the lack of tire options for scouts, and also the "feeling too light" issue with the Tayga. I think the same goes for a few of the other trucks and scouts as well tho. That's one of the things were I think ATS and ETS2 does a better job than Snowrunner. The trucks "feels a lot more like real trucks" in those games, when it comes to their weight. But then again, they're both (or all three, to be more correct) are great games in their own way :)
@@TS84NO hello there. Personally, in my playthrough I had a situation where the Voron AE 4380 was sunken in mud, while the Tayga 6436... just was moving. It is that contract in Zimnegorsk, Taymyr, where you need to deliver drilling equipment crates to the drilling site. I had the Voron AE on MHS 2 tires with saddle, crane and sideboard semitrailer and the Tayga on TMHS. And guess what? The Voron sucked. It just refused to move anywhere in the deep mud. The Tayga then came and saved the day. I detached the semitrailer and attached it to the Tayga, and finished the mission easily.
Agree with everything except aesthetics. IMO it is one of the most average looking trucks in the game. It looks neither distinctive, nor retro, nor high-tech, nor powerful / menacing. It is the generic NPC equivalent in a game about trucks.

Great video! Unlocking the Tayga nice and early is a great way to kickstart a playthrough. And it really is capable in stock config.

One of the most slept on vehicles in the game is the og cat truck . Yes its only got 280L of fuel . No raised suspension . But dear god its fast
It’s actually one of the trucks I’ve used the least because it’s just so good.
I think all of us that play this game and sadists at heart.
Its definitely the elite of trucks. Using it feels like taking the easy way out

No it cannot use that either. The sideboard bed and the flatbed are essentially the same thing. Low saddle with crane is gonna be clutch

And I just don't like how it drives, like I really really don't. I take it out for a spin once in a while but that's about it.
I stand by the notion that Voron Fleet > Tayga.
Gotta say I'm with you on this.. I prefer the Voron AE over the Tayga. It's just as capable, in my experience, and it feels more "planted" and more driveable, if that makes sense. It feels like the Tayga bounches around a lot more than the Voron, and it's harder to keep straight.. And yeah, the Tayga tires helps with ANK's stability, but I actually prefer the ANK with it's stock tires, and NOT the raised suspension. A lot more stable in that config, and the stock tires are surprisingly good in mud, even tho they're not in the mud tire category.
@@TS84NO I'd have to look again, but I think the Active suspension when lowered is lower then the stock.
That said though I just realised the new ANK will be great. Image a ANK that can finally attach a Step-Deck trailer, so basically a ANK that can't roll over anymore. That's going to be awesome.
Yea ANK stock tires are pretty good, they are 1.7 in mud if I remember right and mud tires start at a 2.0. I prefer the look of duals, I sometimes give the ANK UOD II which are a 1.9 like the OHD I.
I've used the UOD before to, I really like the look of them as they have a good thread pattern and are a bit fatter then the UOD II. The III's are only rated a 1.5, but I think they may have some background perks that help them out as they didn't feel to bad last time I used them. They also seem to handle the snow pretty well.
UOD I I don't like. They are rated a 1.5 like the UOD III but I dunno, any time I've used UOD I I've just been getting stuck everywhere.
Worst part is the scouts. I wish we had more options in Offroad and mud tires. For most scouts you got to downgrade all the way to All Terrain just to find something that looks like a truck tire rather then a tractor tire.
But yea back to the Tayga, I think you nailed it. Basically "to light" is a good way to describe the truck. At least it feels to light and bouncy anyway.
@@justinlynch3 Ah, yeah I don't have the active suspesion (I only have the phase 1 maps so far, as I just started playing Snowrunner about a month ago, due to my old PC being too low spec for it. Got 163 hours of playtime on it so far tho, so definitelly a great game:P) Oh, and I had to check, and the tires I'm using on the ANK, are the ANKO 1..
And yeah, I agree with both the lack of tire options for scouts, and also the "feeling too light" issue with the Tayga. I think the same goes for a few of the other trucks and scouts as well tho. That's one of the things were I think ATS and ETS2 does a better job than Snowrunner. The trucks "feels a lot more like real trucks" in those games, when it comes to their weight. But then again, they're both (or all three, to be more correct) are great games in their own way :)
@@TS84NO hello there. Personally, in my playthrough I had a situation where the Voron AE 4380 was sunken in mud, while the Tayga 6436... just was moving. It is that contract in Zimnegorsk, Taymyr, where you need to deliver drilling equipment crates to the drilling site. I had the Voron AE on MHS 2 tires with saddle, crane and sideboard semitrailer and the Tayga on TMHS. And guess what? The Voron sucked. It just refused to move anywhere in the deep mud. The Tayga then came and saved the day. I detached the semitrailer and attached it to the Tayga, and finished the mission easily.

Agree with everything except aesthetics. IMO it is one of the most average looking trucks in the game. It looks neither distinctive, nor retro, nor high-tech, nor powerful / menacing. It is the generic NPC equivalent in a game about trucks.

I agree. I can't seem to make this truck aesthetically pleasing no matter the color, bumpers, or wheel combos I choose.

You can increase the resolution to 1440p :) The recorder did mess up a lil. I fixed it now
