2:45 The 5.5" iPhone 7 Plus does in fact have a smaller screen area than the 5.7" LG G6, but because of the difference in aspect ratio, it's not as large as the diagonal measurement suggests (12.93in sq vs 13in sq) A 5.7" screen in the 16:9 aspect ratio would have an area of 13.88in sq. Rule of thumb - the closer a rectangle is to square, the greater area per diagonal measurement. This is obvious with 4:3 iPads and 3:2 Surface devices when compared to 16:9 and 16:10 screens of the same diagonal measurement, but less obvious when comparing a 2:1 (18:9) screen with a 16:9.

Those very slim bezels both the S8 and G6 are bringing SEXY BACK!
And I can forgive the loss of removeable batteries as long as the built in power pack lasts a day or two.
As for the issue of using a last year SoC I have no qualms about it, specs are not the be all and end all of smartphones.
I learned this the hard way last year with the Moto Z Play and Zenfone 3 satisfying my needs even though they are midrangers.
I rarely found issues and jankiness on those devices, they ran buttery smooth, that SD625 made me a believer its power efficiency was great.
Never again shall I write off any device that has less than flagship specs.
there is something unique about the LG G6. It is the only android phone that has RTT capabilities on the T-Mobile Network. Have you tried the RTT calling feature? It is a feature for deaf or hard of hearing callers to make and receive phone calls. It can also be used by non deaf or non hard of hearing callers to call deaf and or hard of hearing callers on their phone to make an RTT to RTT call.
my friends samsung s6, s7 already broken my lg g4 still is working smoothly I think it has something to do with the balance of design and performance cheers to lg for releasing LG G6 I'll definitely buy one

It'd be nice if it still has removable battery... The removable battery on the g5 was how i survived needing to get 100% charge quickly

It's MY Gadget Match. Just bought one tonight. Was debating between Google Pixel, Samsung S8. All 3 bring some great stuff to the table, but you really hit the nail on the head with some stuff in the video- especially some folks not liking the full edge of the samsung. I know people love it... but, it just doesnt do it for me. I like the 'heft' of the G6, it feels substantial (while still being almost the same weight as the S8. I think the camera is impressive (though it has its own issues too), and I like the pre-loaded google assistant. I think I could have done a random draw out of a hat for either of the 3 phones and been happy- they are all flagships for their respective brands... but, I am happy so far with my choice. The free Google Home didnt hurt either. Thanks for a great review, and confirming some of my thoughts as well.

fantastic review man! bought a v20 last year because of the quad dac. now SO's getting her G6 after a heated discussion on the S8 vs G6. Went to a store with both demo phones, compared them side by side and LG G6 won the battle.
S8 looks pretty at first but feels awkward in our hands. got to agree with someone who said it feels like a bar of soap. gadgetmatched!
That's awesome! Yeah, the S8, no mattery how beautiful, is not for everyone. Some people like the feel of small phones, some don't. Did she get the platinum G6?
I personally liked the platinum colour but she got the black one instead. on 2nd thought it looks much better since it does not take away the beauty of the front screen. the black bezel continues with black front and it looks really pretty slick. we will be slapping a case on it so the fingerprint smudges at the back wont be much of a problem.
Maybe LG surveyed for what their users needed on some certain regions that is why the US got the wireless one and the quad dac for Asian countries...Thanks for the awesome review.

I just returned mine and suffered the $50 restocking fee. It has no notification flash!!! If you miss a call you wouldn't know until you opened your phone. Also, alerts don't stop sounding while texting. The only way to stop this annoyance is to turn the volume all the way down! The volume adjustment is very touchy ......just picking it up shuts off the volume if your not careful. 😠

Thank you. This is what makes product reviews great! You talk about a product from your perspective. I mean it has to be somewhat subjective, because the spec sheet tell only half of the story. Kudos to LG for producing this amazing smartphone, definitely on par with the flagship models.
those were 5mp selfie? damn! they looked good to me. the money we pay for phones nowadays with the most minimal upgrades from last year's models are ridiculous. these phone companies are making a killing these days

I 've own LG phones V10 and still V20 and I like LG but I am a Samsung fan but have Been trying other phones. I never owned a G series but I was liking that LG was the last to hold out on the removable battery, and that's over now. The G6 is a very nice looking phone and had a chance to play with it and I would say you can't go wrong with the G6. what Im. not getting is why is one place getting wireless charging and other with the dac and others with nothing at all. I would like to say thanks for the heads up on what you would be getting with the LG 6 depending on where you live.

it remind me of the old battle of Galaxy S4 vs LG G2.. very similar phone in design and specs , but in my opinion LG G2 won.

If LGG6 had offered 64Gb internal memory and step up the processor to Snapdragon 835 (appreciate it was not ready!), with OLED display , I think they would have given Samsung S8 a run 🏃 for their money 💷.

Australia is reportedly getting the 64Gb/Quad DAC variant, so there is some hope that it will be offered to the US and Europe also. No doubt that there will be a significant premium to pay, but I would pay extra for those extras. Great review on what I hope is a great phone.

G2, G3, G4, V10... All of these have bootloop issues. Will not be surprised if this one will also encounter the said issue.

I have and love botj.Also have lg2,3,&4.They were all great but the lg 3 had crap battery life.

The only time i was tempted by the G series was when they had the leather design but even then it had a weaker processor..even now it' seems a normal phone to me..

I just hate this nonsense about which zone gets which!! What a foolishness! Make the damn phone, same for everyone, you use what is important for you and ignore what's not! That's what I like about iPhones, no dichotomy. They can go to hell with this g6!! People are different everywhere, there are variety of choices among American, Africans or Asiana. Every race or people have varied choices, you can't tell me that American wants only this, Asian want that. Even in Americas there are many Asians or Americans with Asian origin, I don't get this nonsense
solo wow you are right. I have the galaxy s7 edge snapdragon but China Europe and Korea gets exynos which is much better in speed, battery life, ram management. Any Exynos is Samsung's own chip. Wouldn't it make sense to put that chip in every one?

solo truth. Sometimes a lot of people with IPhones be right about Android. Bloatware- hate it so much. It's ok if carriers install it, just let me get rid of it completely instead of just disabling it and it still taking up my storage. Lag- Suprisingly it's not really much of a deal nowadays as Samsung has streamlined it's ui and it's nice. Don't forget this is Android and you get occasional lag. Software updates- They're better than they used to be but not always consistent and I find problems sometimes. Internet not connecting, Google maps acting wonky, Gta san Andreas crashing on every android I had at one point or another. I like this phone but it really frustrated me sometimes. Things work well most of the time but when they don't I feel like flinging this thing at a wall. Might go apple
