The entire Yoga group needs to be brought in for questioning. Why haven't they voluntarily come forward with information about any interactions they had with this missing person????
Yes, she might have told someone in the group where she would be visiting during the retreat or she had gone out with someone she knew, etc.
Yeah, someone knows something so the fact that none of them have voluntarily come forward is a little suspect.
It’s Guatemala MS-13 territory
LOL 😂, why would you go to there to begin with, especially for a yoga trip. LOL 😂
Let me guess, you don't know how dangerous Guatemala is...or how many people flee the country for the US just to escape it? So you assume it's the yoga people (and it could be) instead of the drug traffickers and human traffickers. smh
It's weird that someone was missing in a yoga retreat. The group involved should know where she was. Praying that she is safe and comes back to her family alive and healthy. 🙏
Exactly
But praying won’t help.
Yeah yoga is suspicious

They likely had free time on the retreat, time they could venture off for a little while on their own.
May Nancy be found alive and well and may she reunite with her family very soon 🙏🏼
My daughter spent 6 months in a retreat in that same area back in 2020 and loved it. I’m praying for Nancy’s well being and sending my love to her loved ones🙏🏼🧡💛💚
I have the same hunch too
6 months during the pandemic? Right. LOL

She probably took psychedelics and now her brain is fried.
She’s def gone. There’s always something sinister going on when going to a trip to anywhere in Mexico/South America
I hope Nancy is found alive and well 😢 heart breaks for her family.
She's worm food.
Naw
I’ve visited Lake Atitlan . The first time I went for spring break, a Guatemalan native walked up to me and started taking off my jewelry and sticking them in my pocket. I had on a thin chain, a watch, and my wedding ring. She said you don’t wear jewelry here. You’re a foreigner. They will rob you.” She then started telling me that tourist are a target and I should not go out by myself. I got so scared. It’s a beautiful place but travel with caution.

Sad truth is we women can never go anywhere by ourselves. Doesn’t matter if it’s a nice yoga retreat. People with bad intentions are everywhere.

I hope this story goes viral and puts pressure on everyone who knows something.
Either foul play or she’s injured herself trekking through the cliff side. I hope she’s found safe. I’ve been to lake Atitlan and it’s a beautiful place. The weather changes rapidly there from sunny to torrential downpour and mud slides
It’s recommended to not go hiking without locals. There are cartels in the trails you can take from town to town. She would have known this . I only went once and was told by my yoga retreat friend to not go in the forest alone.
As a Guatemalan I doubt the locals has something to do with this. This is a main attraction place, and means a lot for locals having visitants from all parts of the world. Visitants are important for the economy of this area. I feel sorry, deeply sorry for her family,🙏 . Ihope she come be found.

Yes, it's bad enough here in the US. No one needs to be traveling to a country as violent and dangerous at Guatemala for yoga.
My friend was on a trail in that region, she panicked when after taking a photo and loosing her direction, she began running back and forth on the trail. Getting off the trail would make difficulties in finding home base.

It's crazy to hear this, we visited there a few years ago. Lake Atitlan specifically, and we always felt very safe! I mean we heard stories about how it could be dangerous if you hiked alone, but it never felt like you were a target as a tourist. We went out alone at night, never had a problem! People were always very kind and loved that fact we could speak the little Spanish we did! Just based of how the retreat acted, I would wonder if there wasn't some sort of foul play. Many times, these retreats will be a guise for a hallucinogenic drug binge. Hope she is alive, and maybe lost or something going on that she has her reasons to be away and alone for a while! Hope the family gets answers, and this doesn't hurt the reputation of Lake Atitlan!
oh ffs This is NOT how gangs work. You go into the wrong are and they WILL harm you because you shouldn't be there. Better still, if they can kidnap you and sell you to a human trafficker, they'll do it.
You cannot be this naive. You MUST understand that predators are EVERYWHERE. You can't even go to Antarctica without learning how many female scientists are assaulted while there.
What you have FAILED to learn is that it is DECENT people who are kind, friendly, and not predatory. Narcissists, histrionics, malignant narcissists, and antisocial (sociopaths and psychopaths) are all forms for same-species predators. Some are true full blown predators, while others are opportunists just waiting for just that: an opportunity to prey on someone vulnerable.
@user-rl7mt4gh3oAmerica is also dangerous my friend, don’t be so ignorant.
I've been to similar type of off the beaten track events, let's just say I wouldn't let my daughter anywhere near one if I had a daughter, and men better have their wits about them as well, scary stuff underneath it all.

@lovedestinyz that they were all nice spiritual people. One had abandoned his child and was a host of one of the spots. Sad, she will likely not be coming home. Guatemala is not a safe place and as a woman traveling solo, not a good choice to go there.
Ever been there? I've spent weeks there - all over - and had nothing but very positive interactions. Even had a $500 tablet that I forgot in a market returned to me.
You don't have to go there to know what it's like. The Guatemalan down the street from me said Guatemala is a good place to get robbed.
Guatemala has the highest crime rates in Latin America which includes kidnapping and extortion of tourists. It appears the group allowed her to venture out on her own, which is irresponsible of the people in charge of the yoga retreat.

A lot of toxic comments here. I do agree that it's more dangerous for women to travel alone. However, I encourage everyone to travel alone. You really learn a lot about yourself. Also, way easier to make plans with yourself than to make plans with just one person ha.
That being said, you need to be smart about it. Research where you're going. The US has travel advisories for most place around the world. Currently, the US' advisory for Guatemala is level 3: "reconsider travel". It has specific advisories and tips for this lake the woman went to
