This is a really great breakdown of the guitars that were in Randy's arsenal. I was fortunate enough to be a student of his for about 3 years up until he left to work with Ozzy. He and I often spoke about gear, as I was and am to this day completely gear obsessed. He loved that Les Paul as it played incredibly well and sounded fantastic with his seemingly one of a kind MXR Distortion plus.. The Les Paul was like a log, very heavy and bulky. If memory serves, most of the yellowing also came from the fact that he smoked non stop and was cooped up in a tiny teaching studio all week. I was just starting to collect guitars at the time and when I would bring something in with a Floyd Rose or even a Bigsby on it, he would want to trade and he would play that for the lesson and I would play the Les Paul. He often lamented the fact that the Les Paul didn't have a tremolo on it and to install one would ruin the guitar, if it would work at all. I feel like that was the reason for the shift to the others that he played with Ozzy. He really wanted that ability to manipulate notes and the Paul just couldn't do it. Anyway, sorry for rambling on. Randy was an amazing teacher and a funny, sarcastic, brilliant virtuoso. I still think about the guy every time I pick up a guitar, which is pretty much every day. Thanks again for the great video, brother.
Ozzy should’ve offered $100.000 for the hands of the thieves and could go to 5 million if needed. He can afford it. For what Randy gave the Osbournes, it’s a small price to ask.
I remembered a couple of other guitars: -He had a Gibson/Japanese copy acoustic 12 string. I'm pretty sure it was a copy, but it was used on some tracks. Randy used MULTIPLE chord voicings on "Revelation..." and "Goodbye..." in particular. -'57 (?) 3 pup Gibson "Black Beauty" Les Paul. RR had recently started collecting. I may remember others. If I get a chance I'll go through my many RR books to see what I can find. On another note, despite what EVH said Randy never stated that he got everything from him. In fact, Randy lamented having to tap during his solo. He said that he did it because "that's what the kids want(ed) to hear." He also said (regarding his solo during the concert) that if he was really going to 'show what he could do' he would bring out a chair and acoustic guitar. It's pretty obvious where his head was musically.

Awesome job Sir. I always wondered how he had signature guitars at such a young age. Best fact was that Jackson’s 1st build was RR. I’ll be jamming to Randy on my deathbed when I get there. Legend 🫡
Randy Rhodes and Kellie Garney played at my house when I was in sixth grade they were in seventh grade. I went to school with both of them. Randy also played at my 16th birthday party
Great video.
Pleasure Captain
When will you let him rest in peace. ENOUGH
This video is about his guitars not about his personal life. So it’s aimed for musicians not at gossip queens
who is disturbing his peace, people absolutely want stuff like this
@@TheGuitarShow iti s fine no matter what, the fans want videos and stuff on his life, his playing, his music...his guitars.
Someone being an insecure weirdo I would ignore
Hi
That polka dot V wasn't a Charvel buddy
Karl did work for Charvel but he had his name on that one
huh??

Been expecting something David Lindley related after he died.
I'll speak to Henry
Yeah, he'd be the guy. There's som many things he inspired/played a part in. Developing the Dumble etc. @@TheGuitarShow
@@Stlie1 I’ll get on it
It'd be wonderful if only a conversation. Henry with stories about their record making in Norway and Madagascar. Lindley's influence otherwise, gear etc.@@TheGuitarShow
@@TheGuitarShow Joe Gore told me Henry Kaiser borrowed him a Tonebender pedal as one of the many ingrediens to get the guitar tone for Goin’ Out West. I have the whole recipé in an answer he sent me.
I love these episodes!!!!!
Thank you 🙏
None of my guitar friends even mention Randy Rhoads the problem is some have tried to make Rhodes out to be something he wasn't he never one time received best guitarist of the year when he was alive that was ruled by Eddie Van Halen from 1978 into the the 1990's.. Rhodes also wasn't a innovator or was his style of playing new to anyone steve howe from Played neo classical style long before Rhodes and much better at it..i could go on and on
You are wrong too.
Bitter much, are you in a jr. high click w the 'none-of-my-friends-ever-talk-about-so-n-so, they're not worthy.' Dude, music is subjective entertainment. Music isn't a competition. And the next dude comes along, "none of my friends mention Steve Howe; he's not worthy.",,,haha. There's thousands of brilliant guitarists around to inspire countless people, for many generations. Nobody's making anybody out to be anything out of the ordinary.
We all love the music, get over it
HE won best new talent and won best guitar player in U.K reader's poll. no one expected you to have knowledge based on your stupid fake gloss. time to grow up.
Actually many have suggested the reason Ed went total bag in that interview after Randy died.is because Randy was getting a lot of attention and many thought Randy was better.
Live, Randy was superior, Ed was a drunken pllayer who cheated fans. Randy was a virtuoso changing songs every night.
he was not an innovator, says something who is clearly uninformed on Randy. Many who are mature and knowledgeable know otherwise.
@@LLtigers look a this hack's name...that says it all. He is an insecure hack who is bothered that Randy Rhoads is well known and respected, just the other day someone compared a guy to Randy Rhoads....and it made headlines.
@@mannybravo237 imagine using that stupid gloss that hack is using, coming across a Randy rhoads guitar video and spewing out false information because they are insecure Randy is regarded more highly than the inferior players he likes, his comment is a testament to how revered randy is, there will be hacks and haters.
Haters do not hang out and post on nobodies.
His Gibson Dove series acoustic, and a Spanish Andre segovia, classical nylon and a Guild don't know the model 12 string acoustic, he used all these on Diary of a Madman, but on blizzard the 6 string acoustic and nylon classical he used is unknown. I am so glad you got that 12 string Gibson firebird, he used on You cant kill rock n roll and Diary of a Madman too, and Tonight. Thanks. great video...
Many thanks
