MUSIC!! "U Make Me Feel" by MK2
"Gooning yourself to death" brings a whole new meaning to Dead Meat
Oh boy do I love having eyes
Fun fact, I once looked up the Hellraiser tag on AO3 and I was startled to see more than one fic featuring Henry Cavill's character from this movie, because I didn't think there were enough fanfic writers who even knew Hellworld existed.
I'm not explaining why I was looking up horror movie fandom tags on AO3.
You gotta consume a lot of media to be a fanfic writer, especially if you're so far deep into the rabbit hole that you've seen Hellworld lol
I have also looked up Hellraiser on AO3, no shame 😂
Live your journey
You’d be really surprised what characters do and don’t have a ton of fics written about them lmfao
You mentioned Henry Cavill....that's enough
Chelsea thinking the cop put a donut in his pocket and James telling her it was actually drugs KILLED me. Best podcast ever
"The lament configuration's black friend" You kind of ate that up James 😂😂I'll give you that one lol
I love how Chelsea cut James off talking about MMOs and he ended up saying "I never got into a MMORGP, I had so many friends growing up" I died
When James said Doug Bradley tapped out after this because he had standards, but he went on to make Wrong Turn 5, so he doesn't know what those standards were, I died laughing. The shade!!!
I think his standards are how many zeros are on the check they hand him. He dropped out after this because he said they offered him “less than the cost of a nice refrigerator” for Revelations.
James and Chelsea are probably the best RUclipsrs that talk about bad movies, because they do try to be positive no matter what, which is always nice in the toxic cesspool that is this platform.
it’s because both of them realise the effort that goes into making movies and how hard it is as they were both involved in the industry. James straight up hates cinema sins
@@jinxysaberkI don't think Cinema Sins is supposed to be genuine film criticism (which isn't a defense of it in the slightest), but people unfortunately think it is.
@@coolnerdlll6053 Cinema sins passes their actual uninformed opinions under the guise of satire so they can use that as defense from criticism of their format, it's real bad
Hard agree and I’m a certified hater.
@@coolnerdlll6053don't want to get too far into this discussion, but I agree to a fault.
Cinemasins *began* as a non-serious series. Then over time, they began writing in more and more or their actual feelings alongside the jokes. You can watch their independent reviews and see alot of the same exact points made in CS videos. After awhile, the actual criticism and the joke criticisms start to blend together and become unrecognizable.
I love how Chelsea threw James under the bus for picking Hellraiser Hellworld for the podcast!
😉
They literally said that it was James' idea! jeez
@@alexandrzarezin7765It's almost like this comment was made after Chelsea said that it was James' idea! Jeez!
I am sorry that I wrote a stupid comment because I thought "throw under the bus" means to surprise, now I know that it means to blame.
recognising your mistakes and admitting so is such a rarity online it seems. makes sense its in the Dead Meat community. Thank for being a good human.@@alexandrzarezin7765
The second I heard “baby looked at him” and heard Chelsea’s laugh, I braced for the Simpsons ref and wheezed
Chelsea, great news! The novel Hellbound is available as an audiobook on RUclips, it is so well-voiced and only 3 hours long! Enjoy! And thanks so much to you two for a Hellraiser podcast!
I think the version on RUclips is read by Clive Barker himself.
@@matthewganong1730there is a version with him yeah, I’ve heard a few VA’s do it also.
This is why I come onto the RUclips release to see the comments. Thanks! I was just looking for the audiobook
I believe his voice is pretty different.@@matthewganong1730
2 Things:
_Poor Things_ is a novel adaptation and _every_ episode of Degrassi was a Very Special Episode™😂
I love when you can tell James and Chelsea has a good time with a bad movie. So much fun to watch
You can read The Hellbound Heart in an afternoon. I'd highly recommend it.
Yeah it's short and sweet, I will say the movie is better I loved that the movie changed Kirsty to be Larry/Rory Daughter instead of just a friend who hates Julia and wants to bang him, but I still really love The Hellbound Heart
what an invitation to Cavil: "will you come on our show and talk about your worst movie?"
idk if it's his worst movie at this point. Have you seen Argylle? Oof. And I say this as a Cavil fan.
I haven't... though I heard he's good in it despite it being a total mess.@@jesspeaceful
@@jesspeaceful I don't know. This sounds worse than any of Cavill's DCEU movies, and Argylle looked bad, but not anywhere near as bad as JW's Justice League (I haven't seen the Snyder Cut).
Based on the little I have heard about him as a person, I feel like he would be a good sport about it.
@@coolnerdlll6053Snyder cut is super long but it is vastly superior.
“The Hellbound Heart” is such a quick and fun read. It’s also remarkable how close the original film sticks to it. It’s also a great gateway drug into Clive Barker’s writing style in general. I’ve had a few people over the years ask me where to start with Clive Barker and I always recommend “The Hellbound Heart.” After that, his “Books of Blood” short story collections are amazing, and really show off the extent of his imagination.
“Le’Mont Configuration.”
“Hellraiser University.”
I instantly read that in Keegan Michael Key's voice haha
A couple years ago my friend and I watched all of the Hellraiser movies to prepare for the 2022 film and it was a miserable experience. Thank you for covering Hellworld because it makes that experience a little more worth it.
Petition for Hellraiser 5-7, Revelations, Judgement and Hellraiser 2022 to be covered as podcast episodes
As much as I adored my time going through the deadmeat catalogue when I discovered your channel, the podcasts are my favourite uploads. Zorans did a phenomenal job covering james with the tremors videos too.
BIXBY!
Love the immediate throwing under of bus lol
Love the hellraiser series, i don't know why but something about inferno I really enjoy, maybe its because the main character is a horrible person, or the ending. Idk, would make my year to see them covered.
I like Inferno, Deader, and Hellseeker out of that era. They're probably closer thematically to Silent Hill than they are to Hellraiser but I can live with that lol.
Do they hold a candle to 1 and 2? Nope. But I'll take the 'crappy' Hellraiser movies (mostly) over almost any other horror franchise's later entries because they sort of all do the off-the-tracks shit eventually. Except Freddy I'll stand by those lol. Nightmare series is pretty consistent.
@Stand_By_For_Mind_Control
Dude...i love the nightmare movies, but Freddies Dead is genuinely the worst movie ive ever seen 😭
So this movie is why Henry Cavill just said he hates sex scenes and thinks they’re overused.
lol Chelsea I also immediately recognized the actor playing Jake from being in Degrassi
Man this episode just keeps on giving. "Henry Cavill just came himself to death" is gonna be a fucking GREAT line going forward.
the podcast is my favorite thing on the channel and i am fairly certain that you could talk about genuinely anything and i’d still tune in for the episode.
I once met Henry Cavill at an con and I asked him how he felt about this movie. He groaned and said “why couldn’t you ask me about Super-Man?”
24:40 I always refer to it as 'LaMarchand's Box'. From my understanding of words, 'Lament configuration' is just a setting that it has. When you put the box into that configuration, it opens the door.
It's also a hella cool name.
Lemont Configuration is my drag king name
This was one of the most delightful casts you two have done. I giggled so many times and thought this was a great time
I absolutely agree that the podcast episodes where yall cover shitty as movies are some of my favourites, second only to the weird game eps. keep em coming please :)
I, personally, never stopped wearing short sleeves over long sleeves tee-shirt
I made it my goal to watch every hellraiser movie, and by the time I got to this one, my brain was so mush, haha. I spent most of my time yelling WTF at the TV, lol. So excited you guys are covering this
The stupid stuff is my favorite. I think Cry/Wolf was my first episode of the podcast after subscribing and still one of my favorites. I went and watched the movie just to get the most out of it and it was so funny to hear you guys talk about it. So please keep reviewing bad, ridiculous, or stupid horror movies. They make for some awesome listening.
An entire East West Bowl with all the names inspired by horror characters would be. absolutely. HYSTERICAL! James saying “Lamont Configuration” had me belly laughing!!! 😂
yesss i love watching yall talk about bad movies equally as much as i love watching yall talk about great movies.
Thank you Chelsea and James for acknowledging your dedicated podcast following we may be small compared to the kill count audience but i get so much out of every podcast they are gems for our horror community discourse ❤️
James that Lamont configuration joke was the funniest thing you ever said (I’m black)
this is my favourite hellraiser sequel. theres something about horror from the early 2000s that are generally considered terrible that i love so much. i never really thought you guys would cover this so this is very special to me
i have to say, the ending twist was actually interesting to me and the idea of being so scared you just die is terrifying in itself
I really don’t get the whole people complaining about Pinhead being out of character in part 3 though. It’s established in the storyline that he’s been split into 2 separate entities : 1 good 1 bad , and that he no longer has to abide by the cenobite code, so it makes sense that he would be more evil and a little different than the previous iteration of the character.
I live for James defending The Good Place. All-time great show, I would kill for you guys to discuss it in some way (Maybe my killing would be the horror elements lol)
I love it when you guys talk about the 2000s, since I too started college in 2007. Also, very odd to see Mr. Oleander from Degrassi in this movie, but according to TV Tropes, there are only so many Canadian actors.
Dude Slasher is such a good horror anthology, even the seasons that are buckwild nonsense never phone it in, and all seasons except 5 have insane kills.
I’ve only seen the first 3 seasons and I have to say, the first two are so good, I love the second season, it’s so gory and disturbing in some areas
Both James and Chelsea going on a tangent before going on about the movie was great. I love that these films exist cause personally they opened me up to horror and exploring beyond what everyone else sees in horror other than the horror movies that everyone knows
I have watched all the hellraisers just so I can tell other people save yourself: don’t watch past movie four (except the reboot which I do love).
However: one plus about Hellraiser Hellworld is that if I ever meet Henry Cavil I can look him dead in the eye and say “I loved you in Hellraiser.”
anytime chelsea does hand motions, molly looks so fed up and i love that
I forced myself through all the Hellraiser sequels a few years ago and I remember fast forwarding a lot when I got to this one.
Now i want to see a video where Henry Cavill teaches James and Chelsea 40k
Resident Evil did that kill practically as well. Dude, gets cubed by a laser grid and falls apart. The behind the scenes on that movie is great.
I'm so sorry I've been so late to the podcast, I love this so much. Chelsea does great work.❤
54:24 who cares about the movie soundbite we need James on the soundboard screaming this 😂
I did a marathon with my family and we were supposed to watch all of them. I made us stop after the cop hell one. The cop one was actually strenuous to watch.
I can never remember which of the later Hellraisers I've seen . They blend.
I love that the DeadMeat podcast can be a home amazing films and for terrible movies that need to be discussed.
You know what they say, a couple who scares together pairs together
So you guys are gonna cover the other sequels on the pod, right?
This movie introduced me to Celldweller. It will forever be beloved by me for that alone. Plus I do actually like the movie.
The only thing I really knew about this movie was the fact Khary Payton is in it, and the fact that he then went on to voice Cyborg from the 2000's Teen Titans and animated movies and then Aqualad in Young Justice.
Out of the straight to dvd hellraisers
This one was the most tolerable imo alongside Judgement
this one and judgment are the only two straight to dvd ones i’ve seen and i HATED judgement, one of the grossest films i’ve ever seen 😂 so i can’t imagine how bad the others are
Did Chelsea think “HENRY NOTICED ME!” Like I did when he was creeping on the main character chelsea in the movie? 😂
“You know you want me chels!”
“YEAH WE DO!.. take off that bad prosthetic though!”
I’m so sad, I can’t believe I missed this episode when it came out.
What's the name of this movie? I remember a scene in which the protagonist entered an apartment and someone gave him some eye drops, and when he used them, he could see a ghost, so his job was to read the ghost's lips so they could investigate a crime.I also remember a train, where the protagonist saw a ghost and discovered something very important.
I can't believe I watched that to avoid spoilers and then ended up actually enjoying myself!
LOL I never thought I'd hear Dead Meat say the words "gooned himself to death, he goofed too hard"
James going "if you're gonna go.." and my brain finished the sentence with the Tim Burton Batman Joker line "As my plastic surgeon said...if you're gonna go...go with a smile!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would love to see more obscure weird movies on the kill count, but I can live with them being talked about on the podcast.
Chelsea saying Cavill gooned too hard made me audibly cackle. The scream I scrome.
Kind of a weird pre DC start since cavil (obviously) came to fame through man of steel in 2013 but on a different end we have Khary Payton who voices Cyborg in teen titans and teen titans go! So to DC powerhouses in one very strange hellraiser film
Yes yes yes! Just started and I'm so excited for this episode!
Hearing about the Girls Gone Wild dude and finding out about all that stuff reminds me of recently learning about Vince McMahon.
Thanks for saying I’m the best. I’ll watch everything my favorite creators put out 😂
In the context of the other sequels post-Hellraiser 4, this is the best. Which is obviously not saying a lot! This one feels less of a TV movie than 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10
This movie was certainly something else, that's for sure...
But for the record, the film does show Adam roasting himself alive in the hole that he dug during the opening scene. I don't know how or why James & Chelsea forgot that detail, but then again, maybe so many other lambast & batshit insane things happen throughout that movie that it perhaps got glossed over in their viewing.
Hey guys!! Love this week's podcast! Met you guys last year at creepy ie con, it was the highlight of my life 🥹. When are you guys gonna do a Texas convention?
This is one of my favorite podcast episodes.
the fact that superman was in a hellraiser movie is something i can’t get over.
Chelsea’s a national treasure. 🧡
When I lived in Nashville, I went on a bender binge and watched ALL the Hellraiser Movies. Forgot this was a real movie that people got made!
Chelsea! When you said the inhaler fell down like plinko it made me laugh so hard i ripped open my briddle lip hahahah😂
Is it weird that I have a fascination recently with these bad, early 2000's tech horror based movies? 😅🖤💚
i’m not even a film girlie, but it’s something about these two discussing movies that makes me want to watch more films. edit: the lamont configuration jokes had been screaming 😂😂
I love it when you guys cover crazy bad movies like this
I'm going to be saying "Lamont Configuration" to myself for days, thanks guys.
Henry Cavill is hilarious in this movie. It's worth watching for him.
I've seen all the movies up to the 2011 Hellraiser movie, but the only ones you really need to see are the 2 first movies. Th 2022 Reboot was pretty good though. Way better than the sequels
Ahhh my favourite time of the week....Deadmeat podcast, the bestest💖
How do we get Doug Bradley to do voiceover narration for a video game, I couldn't stop laughing at James's impressions 😂
I hope you do kill counts for the other Hellraiser movies on day. There's some really bad ones, but those kill counts are always fun (e.g. Freddy's Dead).
They keep calling him King Ezekiel, but I only know Khary as cyborg from teen Titans 🤣
This sounds like a really good idea for a horror movie that had to shovel (as it were) a computer game and Hellraiser connection on top to get made.
From poor things to this 💀 yall are TROOPERS and that's why we love yall
About time ive seen a video talking about this hellraiser movie! Its so underrated
You just have to search it by its full title but trust me there are videos 😆 🤣 😂
Hope we get to see Hellraiser 2022 covered at some point. I actually really liked that movie
I graduated in 07 and the senior photo comment is on point 🤣
If your friend was obsessed with MMORPGs when people were still saying 'evercrack' and the game wasn't WoW, they probably were either playing Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) or Lineage.
I don't remember why or when it comes up, but I do remember a scene of Adam lighting himself on fire. But it's done in the super fast saw-like editing style so I barely caught it.
I went so hard down the Skyrim spiral that I actually went into withdrawal when my Xbox broke down 😂😂😂 and by that point I was pretty much just walking around trying to find side quests.
15:14 this whole segment was kind of a jumpscare for me since I’m listening to the pod while doing some idle farming in WoW
Unrelated but this has to be the best James' hair has ever looked. Like, he's having a distractedly good hair day in this
This was a fun episode! I enjoyed hearing y’all talk about this bizarre movie.
Ooh, dodgy 00s techno horrors, hoping for a podcast on Dario Argento’s The Card Player 👌...
Chelsey and James really said “if you don’t have anything vulgar to say don’t say anything at all” lmfao
