- The refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 lineup made its debut at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and we were there to check it out. Road Test Editor Brian Normile got to see a wide variety of Ford’s latest half-ton pickup truck.
The F-150 gets a smattering of smart updates without going overboard on styling changes inside or out. The 12-inch touchscreen display and 12-inch digital instrument panel are now standard across the F-150 lineup, and Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving system is more widely available than before (though also now as a subscription-based feature). Ford’s new Pro Access Tailgate may be the best tailgate innovation of the segment, with a convenient driver-side handle that opens a section of the tailgate up to 100 degrees for easier access to items in the bed or in the new bedside cargo box.
Both the Raptor and Tremor off-road trucks get a new modular front bumper that allows for easy installation of dealer accessories, including a light bar or a new Warn winch; the Raptor’s also has larger cutouts at the ends to expose more of the front tires for a meaner look that adds more off-road capability.

The lower trim headlights design is 10x better than the higher trims design
Yea no. No more Halo headlights
Love or hate Ford, at least they consistently update the F-150. That's something most of the competition can't say
Especially Toyota
The f150 has been exactly the same since 2004
Now they're built in Mexico by workers getting paid 20 bucks per day
Agreed. No one updates anywhere nearly as often. I don’t particularly like the new dash. I really liked the 2021-2023 where the instrument panel was separated from the infotainment / nav system. The top of the dash now is straight across the top.
@@macbook802that’s a complete fabrication. I had a 2004 f150 and I went to a 2008 Chevy 2500 dura max. Now I have the 2022 F150 tremor. There’s nothing the same about the 2004 5.3 triton very basic Lariat not much power compared to the 2022 3.5 v6 turbo with 400hp and 500ft lbs of torque, it has more tq than my duramax.
The seats are top notch leather . It hads 12 inch touch screen completely high tech with hands free driving . The ride is infinitely better and it drives so much better than my old Ford and Chevy. It has more tech than my 2013 BMW X5M. God I hope for you sake you don’t make a living comparing trucks. You’d be absolutely broke . You’re statement has to be the least educated comment on RUclips
I'm going to order the STX with the FX4 package soon. So excited.
So now they think they can justify an $85k pick up truck, with just a face lift. . Trucks has become unaffordable for middle class. I was lucky to get my Sierra Elevation late 2021 for 53k. Now the same model is over 64k.
❤Thank you for sharing God bless you
Wish they still had ambient lighting what has many color options.
It's not a huge change, but I do not like the new led headlight surround. It was good in 2023 now it's not.
That’s why I’m buying a single cab 4x4 base engine is the gen 4 5.0
I wish Ford had left the platinum alone and kept the limited. The platinum plus interior is nice but you can’t get the king bed or trailer mirrors
you coudn't get those 2 options in the 23 limted
What about the lighting?
The 2024 F150 Platinum front-end grill and headlights look awesome.
If they had it in chrome I'd love it
I like both headlight designs a lot. The taillights look indecisive and lack class, and the incandescent versions appear quite dim. Hopefully, Ford has retained the grey or tan interior color options.
you know ford and lincoln vehicle design is becoming better and better
Cloth seats in a platinum?
the truck he is in looks like the Rattler package without the rear badging. it has Rattler wheels and interior
It is the STX trim
This is the best and most comprehensive report on the 2024 F150 I've seen today. Well done!
2024 cab?
Is it still gonna leak during heavy rain from under the pedals or there's a software update for this?
Exactly what I was wondering
I personally love Ford pickups, it’s just too bad that Ford isn’t as reliable as a Toyota.
Same thoughts
Same ( I just bought an f150 and hope so)
@@randomstuff463 Watch out for the turbos in the 3.5 V6.
Our current Ford pickup is almost 13 years old but only has 36K miles.
If I bought another F150 it would have the 5.0L V8 (302 cid). The 302 has been around since the late 60s.
@@Doc1855 best of luck to the both of us ❤️
@@Doc1855The 5.0 today is nothing like the original 302.
You're missing the part where they have fewer options, so less customization, but it cost more than the previous years, and to me, that front end looks ugly. When i saw the reveal of the 2021 f150, i fell in love with the fog and headlight drl design.
What trim is the first one shown? Is that the XLT or STX?
The video starts with the STX!
It looks like the xlt steering wheel is smoother
Pro Access Tailgate is the only real upgrade. He didn't mention the price is increasing quite a bit.
The tailgate should open to the left that way it's not in your way if you're loading items from a roadside or sidewalk
I do agree with them eliminating the 3.3 engine. It doesn't belong in a truck although it is a good engine. I wish they would work on lowering the prices instead of making it look cooler. Ultimately all these refreshes are passed on to us and will cause lots of confusion with trying to get parts, and frankly the tailgate is just another gimmick to break.
Rented a couple with the 3.3 and it was honestly sufficient for most people who need a truck bed but not towing
New announcement by Ford - the new 2024 trucks will be available 2nd quarter in 2025 due to the UAW negotiations!!!
I believe the GM tailgate is better design
Didn’t like the limited anyway. Only came with a short box/mandatory moon roof & 22 in wheels-all of which I don’t want.
Making those electronics standard just raises the base price and Ford does new headlights and grills all the time. Not a refresh
My 2015 ford looks pretty much the same. Almost 10 years and no innovative redesign...
Sir. You are blind and should not be driving.
Looks like they are playing catch up to the ram. Tailgate, head ups up display. Those have been on ram since 2019. Interior in still not as nice as the ram.
Spend less time showing the raptor. I know it's cool, but most of us are not going to buy that monster.
....rounded the front end out. Dont like it.
Not really much different from the 2023.
New body!! Same transmission problems and engine issues!! No thanks
I'm so happy Ford actually updates the look of the F-150 every couple of years unlike GM with that 20 year old ugly ass silverado design smh
Big trucks have dump beds, little trucks have dump beds, medium trucks have gay tailgates?
4 door trucks are cars not trucks
No they are trucks by definition. Bed size does not determine whether it is a truck or not, only how much and what it can carry.
By far the worst refresh Ford has done.
I am a fan of the F-150 but they are way overpriced, so I hope they choke on them.
Overpriced!
