As much as I want the secret codex to be emperors children, I do think it’d be hilarious if they hyped up the release. saying we got 3 god specific legions, so you know what’s next! And then they preview alpha legion

It is actually a solid weighted brick disguised as a codex. You win with the faction if you knock your opponent out before the match. Exactly as it should be.

I'm expecting it'll probably be a dark mechanicus reveal so Vashtor has his own faction to lead.
I was expecting Agents of the Imperium because they've had so many models in kill teams and the like recently, but White Dwarf this month dropped a random article detailing inquisitorial reports on what they thought Vashtorr was up to.

@@sonicwingnutreminder that grey knights and sisters of battle used to be ordo malleus and hereticus codexes, you could even field a radical inquisitor which would prohibit you from using their chamber militant. Over time the inquisition side got completely replaced by the GK/SoB but I wouldn't be surprised to see the inquisition/agents of the imperium get their own codex again with inquisitorial stormtroopers and the like being back in the action. Maybe some new daemonhost models could accompany this ?

so since vashtorr is the new model, justa collection of pre-existing stuffs to fill and collate together and done. if you added all the DE for a force from all the factions, you'd have a almost workable faction. and since GW likes the single new modwl approach, this is what may likely happen.
On the coop game front, Poorhammer recently released a “Horde Mode” for 40k. It looks super cool. The idea being that you and your friends bring small, 500ish point armies, and try to hold off the advancing horde, while trying to accomplish your own secret agenda in order to win the game.
What gw will do (should):
- Noise marine kit
- Daemonette kit
- Upgrade sprews
We can always hope for more, but this'll probably be it for a good year
The emperors children haven’t had decals outside of the Horus heresy for a minute. I would kill for some shoulder pads or some special gear I could give a ec chaos lord.

Also, for the lolz, they should bring back Doom Rider, which would also serve as a teaser for new Chaos bikes...
I would also add, that I'd potentially be more upset with the lack of an Emperor's Children melee unit, than the fact World Eaters still don't have proper Red Butchers in 40k.
Sword dueling is still an integral part of the legion... to not have some kind of sword wielding unit on the tabletop would be a travesty, so either the Palatine Blades or Phoenix Guard Terminators need a 40k equivalent. Legionaries with an upgrade sprue that includes a few EC Falchions just wouldn't cut it.
+ add skaven to 40k.
They announced Emperor's Children units for 30k, and of course snake-boy was released as a model, so it's inevitable that it will drop.
My theory about the "classified" book is that it's an existing faction, but with something new, or perhaps a new unit on the cover that would be too spoilery. Perhaps Votann getting more units? A man can dream.
Or something like Agents of the Imperium, with navy breachers, inquisition etc...
I feel the opposite way, I feel like there is no way GW will drop two fulgrim models within a year, especially two daemon fulgrims
I think that if it isnt EC.. people will very likely just leave the hobby.. EC has been quietly forgotten about for a long time now..
It's kinda also doubled down its likely to be them with Lucius still being in the game yet his mini being off-sale for awhile now.. they did the same with Szeras and imotekh in necrons.. i smell a new model coming alongside Snek boy..
What about farsight enclaves?

Honestly Jay, you should just get one or two Bones minis. When your working on a big project they are a great pallet cleanser.
I desperately want to see Legion of the Damned come back, they are legit my favourite space marines.
Seeing updated models of them would be insanely cool.

I was thinking this too! Having them as an Imperial Agent option would be really cool. Lots of options it could open up. Even just a 5-10 man squad of Legionnaires could give factions like Guard a lot of flexibility.
My bet is that they'll be a Kill Team release.
The secret codex is going to be a massive grey knights update. The wider imperium aren’t allowed to know about the existence of GK so it makes sense that it’s redacted.

I want a GK dreadnought and vechile and new terminators and everything else.
I use a mix of Siraya Tech Fast and Tenacious resin for my models at 90 Fast: 10 Tenacious and sometimes more if I need more flex. It stops all the pointy bits and swords from breaking and actually gives them some bend.
Multi-part plastic Transformers minis for a skirmish style war/ strategy game would be chef's kiss. Have the senerios structured like watching a 30 minute episode of the show. The '80s and '90s are a goldmine for IPs, especially since those fans are at the age to have disposable income.
I preordered the tomb king box, i hope i can magnetize the saddle on top of the dragon to make him game agnostic. Other than that, i think the skelettons are cartoonish but as you said the paintjob is also the reason why. I plan to paint them with a white zenithal and a black reverse zenithal then a dose of sepia ink. It will make them quick, easy and very contrasty. I think it will tone down the cartoon aspect and give a better definition of each bone.
my issue with Resin as well, though not all resins are created equal. a lot of folk do a blend of an expensive tough resin with their regular stuff to increase the durability
The fun of painting those Dredd models is really my mentality with the old sculpts for the old world. I'm looking forward to the simplicity and style that paint up really easy with exaggerated features and not so many fiddly bits.
I'm painting up a dark kraken army. The way I kept myself enthused was painting one miniature from each unit to figure out my color schemes. Now I'm in the assembly line phase and still enjoying it
The Hammer and Bolter episode about Lucius had some cool concepts for EC characters. I want the freaking bull headed terminator
I hope they expand on the Beastmen. Love their aesthetic.
I like the crocodile dragon too! I fully plan on taking some of the bits I can now get from tomb, kings, and put them over to use on my bone reapers!

I needed to hear what you said about losing momentum on painting minis. I'm glad that's not just me. I'll get really into something (not just painting, but that's a lot of it) and then just run out of steam and not finish for a long time, and then feel bad for it.
The redacted codex is going to be agents of the imperium, emperor’s children are coming but they won’t release it so early especially as AOS 4th edition is rumoured to be released at the same time

Agreed. EC will need to be too big of release to be in that time frame.
The counter to this, of course, is that releasing two Imperial books, back to back, when they seem to be alternating Imperium/Chaos/Xenos, would be a little odd.
If it's not Emperor's Children OR Agents of the Imperium... I could maybe see something like Lost and the Damned, which we'll probably know for certain once the CSM book releases (i.e., if Beastmen and traitor guard are absent from Codex CSM).
I agree it's not going to be emperor's children, but I think it might be astra militarum with a new plastic kreig range they don't want to spoil.

Switch over to ABS resin for 3d printing I had the same problem with my prints breaking too easily when I used water washable resin.
I was excited for Old-World too, but post-holiday-wallet needs a long winters nap
Since you liked painting the Judge so much, might I suggest doing your next skirmish game team(s) in a comic book cell shading and/or Black-n-White line art style?

convert your own corrupted votann, surprise the imperium with your new chaos worshippers interspersed into your units
It's probably to open up possibilities for kitbsshing at least for now, since it'd be stupid to make another army that's just a chaos version of another one, that's halfway done

I'd love it to be emperor's children but I doubt they'd release it so soon after WE. Especially since they have some missing units still. I could see maybe a refresh/expansion of the Custodes maybe
It is agents of the imperium codex most likely as GW is printing a lot of other big releases atm it’s not likely we will get something as big and cool as EC
EC towards end of the edition. More likely Agents of the Emperium. Probably with the new Inquisitor Coteaz teased during Advent.

I prefer cast Minis... and also cast Terrain but because of the lack of print lines 👌
As far as 3d printed stuff, look into siraya tech's specialty resins, they have several that take some growing pains to print reliably with but are anywhere from impact resistant to fully rubbery, haven't had any issues with dropping models and breaking them even with multi piece prints
If you want a fun 3D printed, old school style, model look up Warp Miniatures. Love them
3d print the ABC Warrior's they would be awesome to see in your painting style.
I had a big pile of reaper bones goblins and decided to paint them all together and I ended up making an OPR army that is 99% Reaper Bones. I highly recommend it. It's so much fun to paint those simple, flexible models
I saw somewhere that it might not be Emperor's Children because the new version of Warhammer AoS will launch around that time
The new codex could be Agents of the Imperium, maybe with Deathwatch in it
Weren’t the reveals in the last road map for other games classified at a certain point when they revealed them. I was assuming they just didn’t want to say what it is yet (keep sales up that way).
Just look at AoS. They just said. Order. Chaos. Order. Destruction etc etc
Would be really cool if you could make your own custom Spartans like the arms, heads and bodies are all interchangeable.

yes and likely 0 new daemon engines too. GW sells enought hat could be made into a single faction (minus god allegiances/or including them)
A co op halo game would be pretty cool, i jope that it would be UNSC special force group, so youll have a squad of spartans 3 and or ODSTs, with, and of course why wouldn't you include a marine task force with a scorpion and pelican support

That bone dragon was the only thing in the OW release that looked cool to me. I guess us folks that came on with AoS don't have the connection to the old models, but personally I think that duck dragon thing is the shit.
On single cast, I absolutely agree - a few years ago, I got completely burnt out when I tried painting really detailed minis for a new skirmish game (actually resorted to a commission painter for the 1st time), stopped painting completely. Then a few months later I got the old metal Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl team, and I loved painting them, the most fun with a brush in my hand for years. So simple and clean cut, a joy.
Also, why would you think Emperors Children? I mean, we've seen the new kroot models teased, they'd be way more fun.
I've never had a problem with prints breaking with my good ole Elegoo ABS-like.

try Siraya Tech Resin for DLP Printed Minis! its awesome. It has the perfect mix of rigidity and flexibility. You can drop Minis and it will survive finaly!

If GW dare to put out a new range of miniatures before the eldar range refresh then I will be astonished.
Eldar already got a range refresh tho, it's just aspect warriors, phoenix lords, and the vehicles that actually mostly hold up pretty well (the vehicles that is, not the aspect warriors and definitely not the phoenix lords OOF)
i love the crocodragon skeleton, i probably wouldnt put the guy on top, just have crocodragon by itself

I can’t fault the old plastic skeletons. Looking at some 3D printed horses they have tree trunk legs as well. I don’t think you could get a better scale leg that is strong enough.
maybe someone else already pointed it out, but that's not the same cat that was at the end of the other article, that other one looks much bigger, probably some eldar pets

I don't forsee them doing Emperors Children for the classified codex. Being so close to AoS 4E and with his 30k model coming out not too long ago, I don't think the timing is right. Like others have said I think it's Agents of the Imperium or some faction with a new unit on the codex cover that hasn't yet been revealed yet.

Also I think that new army is probably going to be a form of Beastmen or Beast Handlers. Not sure if they're autonomous yet. But they'll have different animal varieties that strangely similar to Terran wildlife, but humanoid and different enough to be unique and alien.
Terminators like rhinos or elephants, close combat crocodiles, goat sniper infiltrators et cetera.

The Walking Dead Miniatures game by Mantic is great and it’s coming back.
2 factions fight against each other and the Zombies are activated by the noise and threat level of the game.
So you can draw Zombies towards the enemy giving them more problems to contend with.
The Nurgle, Slaanesh, and (I’d argue) Tzeentch all need their own specific cultists like WE/Khorne’s Jakhals
they kinda do.Nurgle have poxwalkers, Tzeentch has Birdmen (Tzaangors), and Slaanesh could just be squatted.
My personal opinion on the "classified" codex.....pretty sure Gret Knights are almost straight up classified in the Imperium. We all know what happens if you find out about the GK. So i have a feeling that it'll be the Knights of Titan
ngl when i saw the roadmap i thought they were doing a fun lore thing with the classified one and it was gonna be grey knights.
I want the new codex to be Tau auxiliaries! Make it the tau version of genestealer cults, where it can be played entirely as its own army, or souped with the main tau codex. Make the tau, empire army, all of the vehicles in battles, suits and infantry, piloted by actual tau, and have the auxiliary army made up of kroot vespid and gue Vesa.
There's prolly gonna be an Auxiliaries detachment in the Tau Codex, kinda like how 9th Dal'yth Sept worked in 9th.
This has always been the aspect of the Tau I liked the most so I'd be a huge supporter for this! The synergy is doubly so, you can release Gue'vesa Auxiliary upgrade sprues for use with existing units as well and they have a laundry list of assimilated species at this point with no models to draw on.
Isn't it supposed to be the Astra Militarum Codex?
Hopefully GW doesn't mess up the Sisters Codex to make space for the new faction...
Jay i really think you should look up the poorhammer podcasts gamemode they made for 40k called horde mode its a really cool Co-op way to play 40k with a little bit of back slabbery
Not sure what your printing with to make a model explode but there is tons of different materials out there. I would try a different material because used 3D printing stuff in factory production environments all the time with no exploding issues and we print with all types of technology
I had so much fun playing, I think it was second edition warmachine. Then out of nowhere they cutt the product from my country. But the Halo one i def will be buying
you could print a like snap on attachment to your container for armada that raises the lid up enough to store in that type of container fhdjfhdhf

I would love if they leaned into the body horror helraiser aspect of the emperor's children. However, I don't really think the monogod legions should be their own armies lol. Not even loyalists are silly enough to do that. They have codex supplements.
you should try zombicide (especially "black plague") as a coop boardgame. it has wounderful minis to paint and all players play against the board. i like your videos a lot, keep going!
It'll probably be a faction we already have minis for, but I would love to see dark mechanicum get space skaven and call them gremlins
Emporer's Children will be too big of a release for Summer, I think. I think it will be Agents of the Imperium.
Hey Jay ! If you want to try cooperative miniature games + paint 1 piece of plastic miniatures + paint super fun cameo characters, you should really look into Zombicide. It's a super fun game for board game night and a very good introduction to wargame for newer players. All the playable characters are based upon pop culture figures and the game currently has several versions with different flavors (modern urban, sci-fi, fantasy, western or even versions themed around certain franchises)
I second this all the way, Zombiecide is great!
I got Marvel Zombies its a fun game and the miniatures are really fun to paint.
Talking about chaos dreadnought, Thousand sons deserve a Compemptor Dreadnought Sorcerer, cause big guns, a giant chain kopesh and warp magic, hell yeah!

Old metal Necromunda minis are great if you want more simple one piece guys to paint. I find Goliath particularly satisfying to paint.
RE: Emperor's Children...haven't GW been releasing each of the Big 4 CSM factions near the end of an edition? Could the super-secret faction be Dark Mechanicus?
For 40k there are so many factions people still really want to see, but I really want to see them go a bit more wild with the new Kill Teams. Give me Hrud, Exodites, etc. Things that doesn't need to be a full 40k faction, but which would still be great to see on the table.

Man I am just going to go crazy with the Halo Vehicles. Scorpion is best tank. Warthog is best scout vehicle.
