I got back into 40k at the launch of 10th specifically because the rules would be online. So i assumed there would be no more paperwork and cross referencing. And here we are ... 🙄
All of Admech's rules in the codex are like 55 pages. The Admech section of this update is like 35 pages. That's more than half the rules That are now null and void. These rules were only put on the app for people who own that codex. If you don't own the Admech codex you basically have no way to check on your opponent's rules. This more than anything else is telling me just give us free rules please GW.
Na you got the pivoting wrong my guy, it costs 2" to pivot if you don't have a circle base but you can pivot as much as you want, so if your doing a move with a tank with 12" move you pay the 2" to pivot and then have 10" actual movement
GW should release two versions of every codex. One is the “fluff” codex that is the same as the codex’s we have now, including art and lore and rules. The other is the “crunch” codex which only has the rules and info you need to play the game, and is sold in a 3 ring binder or spiral bound style so that when rules change you can actually remove the outdated page and put in the current one (GW would have to provide new pages for free ofc)
Same for me. I used to check it daily and look around. Now everytime I end up on the website I remember how bad it is and leave immediately. Man oh man
Not trying to be a contrarian but I much prefer the new site now, once you get familiar with it its so much better to navigate and doesn’t refuse to do what you tell it like the old site. But I had a lot of issues with the gw site and its unclear if they were worldwide problems or just for my area
2:00 Ripley, "But each one of these things comes from an egg, right? So who's laying these eggs?" Jay, "I'm not sure. It must be something we haven't seen yet." 5:19 It looks odd, to me, that the bottom checker in the left lower quarter of that banner hasn't been filled in.
I resonate so much with what you said at the end. Gamesworkshop’s refusal to up the actual rule book is annoying and having to figure out what new rules they’ve FAQ’d everytime I play is the main reason I’ve switched to OPR
I think Necromunda is GW's sounding board for 40k. They let the designers play around with the miniatures, let them come up with the most gross and disgusting models and crazy stuff, and then release them under the Necromunda banner and see if people buy em. If they sell well, they remodel them and release them as 40k. Also, Necromunda gangs sell for (on average) $10 cheaper than 40k squads do. So I picked up 3 cool, high-tech looking Van Saar gangs to run as Imperial Guard.
Necromunda stuff is so much original than 40k right now Let's see some really necromunda EoB terrain!!! Ladders, bridges, Doors welded closed or blocked with barricade trash, zipline towers, stuff to add gantries and balconies to existing buildings, I need more verticality!
The sassy nurgling comes with the plague marine champion. Does the Warhammer article still list the helmet that the watcher carries as MKVI? They need to put that to say MKVII.
When the errata and addendum are more than half the book, it's time for a reprint. Maybe GW should start selling blocks of styrofoam with just the spines of the books on so you can use them to fill your shelves just for aesthetics.... that's all they end up being for anyway 🤷♂
This is because of your sponsor… I would love Star Trek skirmish game! You could go the Star Trek online route, and set it in an unexplored time so you don’t have to worry about missing out on characters or uniforms, you can call it away team, and you could paint a squad of Klingon’s with bat’leths!
And this is why I have a hard time getting into 40K. Just have to keep fiddling with the rules...Well atleast I can work on my 3rd Edition project without fear of the rules constantly changing.
I just don't understand why GW doesn't put new detachments in White Dwarf? It would be a great platform to give players options. Also, the change to indirect fire makes sense! Indirect fire should not be more accurate than line of sight vehicles!
Necromunda just released an all in (upto that point) single manual. Maybe come out with a chapter approved book with updated pages. Even better a sticker book 📖 that you can go through your core rules book and just put them in. That might be a fun day…
Agreed, everything is pretty great on update game play wise, except for the cross-referencing shenanigans we all must do now just to play a game, Digital rules James Workshop, just do it
The funny thing is I’m pretty sure that they could sell the core “edition book” if they called it a lore or scenario book that included all the cool art and the missions and maps and just went digital with the core rules. Maybe print more of the soft rules that come in the starter book so people have access to a print version. I don’t think they understand that the vibe is shifting for a lot of the player base to using fan resources for digital rules comes from how inadequate ol’ Jame’s system is.
Huh, it was pretty close to the last MaMW, but I thought this episode you'd talk about the end of development and production for Star Wars: X-Wing and Armada. Weirdly enough, the announcement by AMG to end the games caused a big resurgence of play at my local stores. People returning to 2.0 and even 1.0 as if they couldn't have done it before the 2.5 rules were laid to rest :D
Shout out to the the Tau brain implant that now does the following: "Once per turn you may target the bearers unit with a strategem." They made it lore accurate and now it actually melts your brain when you use it.
If GW would make on scale Spacemarine helmets, Guardhelmets, Bolters and chainswords they would make bank. That is merch that everyone wants... but still.
One of the reasons that I currently don't play 10th edition is that my main army is currently still an index force. I'm a Deathwatch player with some fun mix of Inquisition as my main. At least the Sisters got a new dex. Might have to look at it to see how well it plays... Armies - Deathwatch + Inquisition = Index - Sisters = New dex - Corsairs = Index (drukhari and voidscarred (really wish they'd bring back doom of mymeara corsairs) - Grey Knights = Index
Jay my man you got pivot entirely wrong. First, there's the rule - the first time your model pivots, it costs you 2" of movement if you have a Pivot Value of 2, which then leads into the 2 different pivot rules: Core Rules penalizes ONLY Monster and Vehicle Keyword units on a non-round (non-circle) base. So in your example with a Drukhari Raider, the Raider is on a Round base and gets NO penalty. The second ruleset is for Pariah Nexus missions, and that applies the 2" penalty to ALL models on non-round bases, including Outrider bikes, Squighog Boyz, etc.
I have a theory. James Porkchop is doing all this bs with the rules and making you do all this cross referencing mumbo jumbo so that at the end of 10th they can go "seeeee digital rules are dumb and take to much effort, let us do all the work for you at the low low price of 149.99"
You posted a video on Feb 5th 2024 of your entire BT army. Why don't you kitbash your old templar into some new cool looking conversions? I saw you had some models that I wish I never sold that bring back memories of first ever games and first ever dreadnought purchase etc. Love all your videos.
So, I don't have problems with lots of games, but Necromunda: Hired Gun is immensely janky for me. The game wants you to move fast and zip around, but the game limits what the player can do. The controls are just weird too. Anyway the little "hub", no shame in starting over, but you start missions from the "bounty board". If you walk front and center up to the bar, turn around to face the way you came, and look to your left. There is a servitor and a bunch of screens on the wall. That is where you get your missions. Front and center behind the bar is where you can buy and upgrade your guns, but you'll find guns in missions. As much as I love fast paced shooters (like Doom Eternal) Necromunda just wasn't for me. I went back to space hulk and space marine.
I hope whatever design team has been working on Necromunda gets the opportunity to work on the Dark Eldar when they get their finecast models turned new plastic.
If the servo-skull had all his teeth he might look better. He’s an Appalachian servo-skull. Did that servo-skull just say I had a pretty mouth?!?!? Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
Thing is about the rules updates… you actually DON’T have to keep up with them all, if you don’t want to. Hell, I still play Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition (the best war game ever). If you’re in your own house, turns out you can do what you want.
sisters got pretty buffed overall: cool new rules AND a point nerf to make them feel more elite! AWESOME! A bit sad for the Exorcist thou, it's totally pointless: 190 for a 0 passengers Rhino with one bad indirect weapon, not worth.
The Guard detachment rule is half baked. Linking the ability to get lethals to keywords is restrictive. It should be vehicles get lethals to vehicles and monsters. Infantry get lethal hits. Simple as. For example the Tank Commander doesn't get lethals. The FOB's Heavy Lascannon option won't get lethals against the target it's intended for. There's weird inconsistencies like that with half the units in the roster. Also, the nerf to Reinforcements is an overstep. If it was changed to once per turn instead of game that would have taken care of it. The "Unending Swarm" is now "We're Just a Buncha Nids. Kinda." It is nice to have a faction ability now though.
@@frontline989 thats ridicolous. 60 Euro very well spent, for an Online rule system, which will not be updated. Much wow. Well i guess I´ll have 60 buckeroos more for 3D printing or such. Thank you for clarifying!
No, GW _screwed_ the guard with the indirect fire nerfs. Artillery is the queen of the battlefield, and guard are super squishy. Telling guard players not to use indirect fire is the worst kind of cope.
The thing is that almost all artillery is fired from such a distance that it's never going to land on the turn it's fired. A hand grenade or even a grenade launcher is one thing, but even a mortar round takes 15-20 seconds to land and that certainly means it's not hitting till the following round. And bigger weapons would have even longer flight times, even indirectly the shot is going quite high before it comes back down.
Solution is that all physical books should have a code to allow permanent download of a digital copy of the rules. That digital copy is updated when new rule changes come out, and the player can go get the new download with the current rule set.
@CreationDominion so why the issue with an errata if it is incorporated into the digital manual? I thought this was a D&D like situation. I play KT BTW, so am unfamiliar with the 40k codexs
@@AttiraKell because the individual armies get codes to unlock their datasheets inside the book, and as soon as the code is used and you see what the actual point costs and army rules are that book becomes decorative. Because the main rulebook for the game has been out of date since basically the day it came out
I love that we think the same chapter is the greatest but I have a small complaint. I think its because of your US accent. The my British ear, when you say "Crimson Fists" is sounds like your saying "Black Templars". :) Speaking of Crimson Fists, how about painting a Horus Heresy MK VI beaky marine as a Crimson Fist?
I hate Parking Lot Guard and think the Reinforcments changes are acceptable. Cause now I have a Detachment rule that will work for other play styles of Guard and it makes some units better then a fancy objective holder. Also no one is gonna use a Basilisk like that Jay, it just doesn't happen no matter the rules.
How has GW not just turned the Codexes into art and lore books with painting tutorials, and kitbashed ideas then bundle it with a unique character and a sprue of faction specific griblies? It would leave a place for Codexes to matter and allow for a PDF rule distribution system... Problem solved.
10th Ed it's the worst edition because the changes are basically every week, the core rules are fine because they are 8th ed core rules with some extras but the big problem are the index and codex, so GW change the core rules because some index are OP, in the other hand most codex are crap because they were designed six months previous to the changes so they arrive nerfed, also the Mission packs adds another layer of bad written rules that changes the Core rules and last but not least, Competitive events and the meta list scare the hell out of GW so they up and down points of units that not necessarily are OP because some guy wins a events with a crazy list, so in resume: 10th Ed it's the worst edition
hey i was wondering im a young warhammer fan and obviously its a very expensive hobby so i have alot more legos than i do warhammer if i make like the most accurate thing probbally posible to the orignial mini scale and all, could i use it? ik its goofy but i am really wondering. I don't like rules change...I play so few games that when I finally get the rules, they change. I like to make an army and not have to change it...that's why I like games with (good) campaigns. But that's my situation...probably those who play more often than me like changes more.
10ths simple as but that makes it easier to find games imo and that makes it much more fun, Ive played games with people I never imagined would be able to grasp the rules. And I've played more games this ed than any other
GW does the same thing every edition. Starts off fine then they release their dumb munitorum/generals handbook whatever dlc all the time, codices, campaign books, erratas for all of them and in the end you play a different game cause you cant be bothered to bring 20 books to each game night. Then they announce the next edition and tell you that they've done away with aaaaaall the clutter! you need just your rules and your codex......and white darf issue 673, 2 campaign books, 3 field manuals .....
@@scolack123 balance sure. but i only play with friends to have fun so i dont much care. At least I only needed the rules and an index or codex. My comment was directed at the bloat of different documents you need the longer an edition lasts

hey i was wondering im a young warhammer fan and obviously its a very expensive hobby so i have alot more legos than i do warhammer if i make like the most accurate thing probbally posible to the orignial mini scale and all, could i use it? ik its goofy but i am really wondering. This sounds like 3rd AOS
Day 8 of asking jay to make one of the fat frog men from age of sigmar to float with a magnet hover thing
... Holy crap that's A fantastic idea. I have a second Slab that I haven't known what to do with, that I got in the Christmas battle force I might do that with him.
I was thinking of kit bashing him onto a triceratops or ankylosaur but that's a brilliant idea.
Day 5 of asking Jay to paint a skitarii
"Nobody got nerfed".... Sad ork noises
I swear he talks faster on the intro with every episode lol
Dorn does need a hand.
Come on GW, you're gonna release plushies but no Thunder Wolf pup plush?
Big dog, it's *mal* strain not *mail* strain
There is at least one turn based necromunder game
The artillery nerf is annoying because it invalidates all of the synergies we had for guard and one of the stratagems is just completely useless
Uhm jay command point stuff was changed last dataslate, not this one. Idk what you are talking about
I want to play sky spear raiders
I don't like rules change...I play so few games that when I finally get the rules, they change. I like to make an army and not have to change it...that's why I like games with (good) campaigns.
But that's my situation...probably those who play more often than me like changes more.
thought the thumbnail said big chungus
Episode 21 of asking for black Templar aggressors
🎉
Hi
Guard were nerfed. You're a blind man in a dark room.
Sassy nurgling haha.. :)
Don"t do underhive wars... its soo bad! I think Darktide is the best way to experience the underhive.
Calling 7th edition the worst edition of 40k while simping for 10th edition 😂
Given that almost anything he says rule-wise don't make sense anyway. Just let him have his weird opinion.
10ths simple as but that makes it easier to find games imo and that makes it much more fun, Ive played games with people I never imagined would be able to grasp the rules. And I've played more games this ed than any other
7th was indeed horrendous
You said Plague Champion wrong mf @7:47
GW does the same thing every edition. Starts off fine then they release their dumb munitorum/generals handbook whatever dlc all the time, codices, campaign books, erratas for all of them and in the end you play a different game cause you cant be bothered to bring 20 books to each game night. Then they announce the next edition and tell you that they've done away with aaaaaall the clutter! you need just your rules and your codex......and white darf issue 673, 2 campaign books, 3 field manuals .....
"Starts off fine"
10th was BUSTED at release balance wise
@@scolack123 balance sure. but i only play with friends to have fun so i dont much care. At least I only needed the rules and an index or codex. My comment was directed at the bloat of different documents you need the longer an edition lasts
