Theory: After the Phantom Blot was sent to the wasteland, he continued his life of crime, however he was caught and executed. His ghost was still alive, but it coudn't do crime stuff. It thought of a scheme to escape from wasteland and bring itself back to life by stealing one of Yen Sid's potions. However, the ghost couldn't escape. When Mickey completely messed up, he sent the power of the paint to the Phantom Blot's ghost, transforming it into the Shadow Blot.
I agree, I just don't think he was caught and executed.

Well I dunno if he could end up in Wasteland before Mickey made the Blot, considering it was years before his debut in the comics and his other appearances shown in this video. I believe that the Phantom Blot and The Blot are two separate entities as is implied in a comic where the two fought.
The Phantom Blot returned as a magic stealer working for Darkwing Duck’s Fowl in the new Ducktales voiced by Giancarlo Esposito.
I wonder what AniMat's reaction would be to knowing he's a villain in 2017 Ducktales. I was so happy to see him in the show because I watched The Epic Mickey files when I was little and I remembered this video when he appeared on-screen.
I personally think that The Phantom Blot should be a recurring villain in a new Mickey Mouse show that's more like Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse with his John O'Hurley voice because he seems like the perfect criminal mastermind for Mickey to foil when Pete's not doing anything bad.

Honestly, that looked cool and very creative. If the game creators/animators had a chance to make an animated horror movie, then they would really nale the designs of the horror aspect.
I didn't know the Phantom Blot had such a history, I thought he just appeared in that MouseWorks episode. I think the Italians have a pretty good idea of what he really looks like too, I buy it. His original design in the game looks terrifying, they totally should have left it like that. Awesome file Mat :)

I think if the Phantom Blot was in Epic Mickey, he would be trying to destroy the Shadow Blot himself because everyone keeps confusing Phantom for Shadow.

When I say Phantom Blot I'm referring to this wondersofdisney.webs.com/comics/ultraheroes/mick_blotsneak.gif the classic Floyd Gottfredyson character. I use shadow blot to refer to the character in Epic Mickey.

The phantom blot also appeared in dutch Donald Duck Pockets(which are basically pocketsized comic books which contain multiple stories). In here he is known as "De Zwarte Schim" which literally translates to The black shadow.

That was nice. Although I have read many of the Italian Mickey's in France, I always thought the Phantom Blot was in a lot more comics, but I guess it was because he effected my imagination so strongly. In Mickey's first comic strip in 1930 Mickey in Death Valley there is a character, a good guy, who is graphically an all black blot, but with a hat. But maybe the1936 Tex Avery cartoon, Blow Out, featuring a very Blot-like mad bomber trying to blow up the Blotz building was an inspiration too.
Nice theory. However, I still think that Phantom Blot would have fitted the Epic Mickey better if he had been a Heartless manifestation rather than a ghost(or such). It would have made a great addition to the KH storyline and -as a bonus- it would have been nice to blame EVERYTHING(+

He is named Sorte Skygge "Black Shadow" in Denmark & still appears in the Anders And "Donald Duck"s weekly comic where Mickey have some stories in it too - He is also in Jumbo books, they come out every month

fun fact: the oldschool phantom blot drawing that appears in 0:44 is actually quite popular in Brasil because it was adopted as the mascot of one the biggest ultra organizations of the country, which is the Mancha Verde (Green Blot) ultras, supporter of Palmeiras. They adopted him as their symbol because they call their biggest rivals rats/possums, and once mickey is a rat, they chose the archenemy of the worlds most famous rat to represent them.

But according to the wikia page of epic mickey's game it says that there is a confusion between the phantom blot (from the cartoon series) and the other phantom blot aka the shadow blot.(epic mickey games). (Epic mickey wikia: The confusion between the names Shadow Blot and Phantom Blot are enhanced by the facts that in a lot of foreign translations, the Shadow Blot gets the country's name for the original Phantom Blot (Fantôme Noir in french, Macchia Nera in italian). Also, in the Graphic Novel, he is mistakenly named Phantom Blot, while the Blotling Shadow Blot is named Blot Shadow).
great theory but i have another part too. What if the Phantom Blot was sent to Wasteland at the very same time mickey created that paint and thinner monster the phantom blots soul merged with that of the creation and went into Wasteland where he cause destruction with new unlimited power. But he quickly learned that to escape he would need a heart. Because he was half monster he could only partially exit the Wasteland world, thats when he snatched mickey. He wanted Mickeys heart to escape for 2

I love the fact that you know so much about comic book blot and not just the game blot. Also i think it's fitting how the phantom blot ,who almost never appears in a comic book (at least not a good one) is the villain of the world of the forgotten. That's either a coincidence or a clever decision
Also i hate that the Italians have influenced the comics in Norway (an possibly whole Europe), because now he never wears the hood! and that pisses me off!!! I mean, before he was unmasked, he was rumored to not even be human! now if your so mysterious that people doubt you exist, then you are doing something right!

But other than that, yes, his other appearances aren't as good as that first. But really, almost nothing is.

shadow blot is the actual blots double basically he would go around pretending to be the real thing running the army and keeping the doc in check interesting thing is if you redeemed the shadow blot he doesn't stay painted he just seems to tease and hug Mickey because of his action and then leaves.. we never see him again

Honestly, I don't think he should have fully been killed off in Epic Mickey...I think he should have had a small part of him survive, and then that part slightly closer resembles the original Phantom Blot character.
Maybe the original blot could absorbe the shadow blot the same way Mickey did!
