I found out about Oswald through Epic Mickey to. I'm so glad that they got back a important part of Walts history.

No lie, Oswald has became my #1 favorite cartoon character. His story is just so interesting. To think that the creation of Mickey Mouse was based on Walt Disney losing his first creation to the reunion. There are so many what-ifs about what could have been Oswald. I want to create fan art for myself and just use my imagination for an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit story. I’m truly inspired by Oswald.

Oswald is my absolute favorite. His story is so interesting and I could actually relate to him in Epic Mickey as far as feeling forgotten. He’s my comfort character and I REALLY hope he starts getting more of the love he deserves
I want to say thank you for your knowledge on this. I am doing a film project on the Walt Disney Studios for my summer course, and this video has helped me much in understanding how Oswald was fundamental in the development for Walt Disney Studios. Without Oswald being stolen, Disney wouldn't have created Mickey Mouse.

The first time I met Oswald was at block buster Epic Mickey 2 and I love the game I was a little kid when I played the game so I had some trouble.

True, but it was because a lucky rabbit pushed him in the right direction. Though I was upset that Oswald was stolen away from Disney. Imagine having someone taking away a pet that you could consider as your ‘baby/child’, it’s probably like that for Disney

My introduction for Oswald was through the Woody Woodpecker and Friends DVDs, with those little segments of old Walter Lantz Cartoons starring the titular rabbit, later in my life when I heard Epic Mickey for the Wii was coming out I couldn’t believe that the character was originally Disney’s

To be fair, while Disney does own the rights to the character, they far as the shorts goes only own the ones that Walt and the staff themselves made. The Mintz and Lantz shorts that featured him were not included in the deal.
I was first acquainted with Oswald The Lucky Rabbit in the Fall of 1978 when I got my Art of Walt Disney book from my Mom he's a reasonable facsimile of Mickey Mouse but with long Ears.

I hope Oswald's new and approved design will be more appealing than how Walter Lantz designed him. I do see him wearing white gloves and shoes but don't have to wear a shirt like Mickey doesn't wear a shirt plus the gloves could use the three black lines on them like everyone else in Mickey's world have and perhaps buttons on the shorts. He really deserves better and Ortensia too!

What the song in the background called?
A few different tracks were used. The first one is a royalty free 1920s track. Not sure what the name is. There is a track from the NES game, Super Tecmo Bowl. Next is the theme from Epic Mickey. The last one that plays towards the end is from the SNES game Tiny Toon Adventures : Buster Busts Loose. Hope this helps.

Disney wouldn't have existed today if it had continued to produce Oswald cartoons in-house. Besides, Oswald isn't that memorable or significant when compared with Mickey Mouse. Besides, Mickey was given a distinctive personality, while Oswald was a flat, toneless character, most likely since his first appearances were in silent films. Mickey was, and still is, a silly, loveable character, while Oswald isn't that recognizable. Best of all, as time passed, Mickey would become a symbol of not the Walt Disney Company, he would become a symbol of Walt himself.
