Amazing how the keyboard and workings are in a dungeon it seems - hidden away from the audience. Sad they don't get to see him play. I keep telling myself this will be the last video as I need to go to bed. I stumbled on this young man this evening around 7:00 and have been watching him nonstop and it is almost midnight! Am looking forward to following this brilliant young man's career. To God be the glory!
I guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Jeremy Braxton thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Mijn mooiste orgel in Groningen
Gert van Hoef, you and Jan have brought a vitality to this instrument at Martinikerk that must be unequaled. The tonality of this exquisite piece--and your masterful performance--will forever resonate in my heart.
Einfach fantastisch!
Merci beaucoup
That is brilliant, Gert. I love your enthusiasm, your joy in playing and your wonderful musicality. I too, would have a smile, but over both sides of my face if I had the opportunity to simply sit at the console of the superb Martinikerk organ!
WOW!!!!this was fantastic. My mom and dad lived in Groningen. They went to this church many times. My dad played the organ when he was still alive. This brings back many memories and I think you for this.
Gert, What a wonderful display of your talent. Your interpretation of music seems to flow out of your soul, I have NEVER seen or heard anything like it! truly inspirational. I have been watching you on RUclips now for about 6 months. I have been very fortunate to be able to see and hear you play for real at Hanley UK this year. I can't thank you enough for sharing these excellent videos. God Bless You.
Yes, how can you properly thank someone who gives you something Truly unique and special ? Also you express a key observation - he seems to sit at the console purely to 'transmit' (his personal feeling of the piece) as opposed to accomplish the technical playing of the notes of a pre-written work.
I am amazed. This particular piece is a strong, powerful expression of the of the deep power and majesty of God. I would expect that it could only be properly performed by a an older, more mature organist who had spent years (or decades) refining the nuances of the piece. But here is a young man presenting it. Most young people wouldn't even begin to be interested in the Nature of this piece, being too 'heavy' and profound for a youth to savor properly. It's definitely abnormal that such an excellent performance issues from someone this young. (yes, I know that all kinds of kiddies "play" various instruments 'successfully', even amazingly, as performing monkeys. But the music produced is at the depth of jingle bells) I'm not referring to Gert technically managing to play the notes here. I'm referring to the this formidable, and impressive, interpretation.
Klasse, Gert. DANKE! LG Steffen aus Görlitz.
Gerry - and all - that's my conclusion. And I am one who is deeply conscious and respectful of my Father, so I could not assent to such a comment without totally feeling it.
After hearing this performance again, over a period of Years now, it REMAINS wondrous and inspired. I get impressed like I did the very first time I heard it. How could that be? I don't get that reaction from any other performer's performance. There very simply is something transcendent involved in Gert's playing. I realize that's an extraordinary assertion but I don't care what anyone says. I've never made that claim about ANY other musician's ability, but I fully believe it here.
Gert the Great ... have just found you recently ... truly outstanding ... you are the master of the organ ... looking forward to hearing you play in the UK ... preferably in the Great Hall of the Manchester Town Hall ... thankyou
That is literally true. Because many people, countless, could play the notes of this piece - but never transmit the inner, awesome beauty it contains like Gert does. This performance is so magnificent that I will never hear it too many times.
All I listened to was Pink Floyd & Black Sabbath until I stumbled upon this young Dude... I bet he's a Floyd fan too... Love your ability son.... From England... keep up the good work ! Cheers....
I bet he is not, but now I think about it... "You were caught in the crossfire between childhood and stardom", could have been written with Gert in mind. ;)
Mr. Gert is of course a Pink Floyd fan that is giving the world until the end of times a saucer full of secrets in the A Saucerful of Secrets Ummagumma version. Of this is also the case with the just a little bit paranoïd Black Sabbath is of course in the here and now of these days not very clear if Mr. Gert is a fan of these British Dudes, but who knows. Anyway, just for your information: in ze Royal Kingdom of ze Netherlands must live a lot of young or old Dudes who are doing with their fingers and feet exactly the same inspiring things as the young Mr. Gert, and I daresay even much, much, much more inspiring as the young Mr. Gert. Anyway, that is what those young and old Dudes behind their "trap" organ, or "electric" organ, thought, and the neighbours maybe thought differently about his, hopefully knowing that only five or six people have been on the beautiful world on the beautiful planet Earth in the beautiful Universe given the natural talent of Mr. Gert. This will be on the beautiful island of the British people in the history of mankind exactly the same: there were on the beautiful island of the British people the talented lads with the long hair The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and many, many, many other long haired talented Dudes, but who will in rhetoric sense remember behind his or her perfect digital home desktop computer or perfect digital cell phone in one or the other analoge or digital crisis on the beautiful world on the beautiful planet Earth in the beautiful Universe all those many, many, many other long haired Dudes of the so called pop music over 5 à 600 years? The television killed the radio stars, video killed the television stars, commercial music factories killed the video stars, and mp3 killed on the happy digital internet on the beautiful world on the beautiful planet Earth in the beautiful Universe the commercial music factories stars. So maybe nobody of course except The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and the saucer full of secrets of Pink Floyd in the A Saucerful of Secrets Ummagumma version!
Andy I agree with your point. Although I always loved the sound capability of cathedral organs, and liked a few pieces (played by only the greatest like E Power Biggs, etc.) once I listened to the pieces once or twice, that was it. I was done with it. It was like the guys played the piece 'correctly' - but there was nothing more there to stimulate you - the performance was accurate but FLAT. Not so here - Gert makes the piece come alive - he transmits spirit and vibrance. Now I actually return to listen to 'organ music' - something I thought I would never do - again and again to absorb his musical beauty.
Since I take God absolutely, seriously, and respectfully, I do not throw the word 'bless' around, nor misuse it. Instead I Reserve that word for proper application. Thus in general I would not apply 'blessed' to the playing of some 'music' - any music. But with some of Gert's performances I, even I, feel compelled to thank God for a blessed moment. Because he literally transports you into a brief experience of heavenly, spiritual realm. Something no other person has done, or can do. (yes, if you sit in a huge concert hall with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir calling out en masse or have a philharmonic orchestra overwhelming you with reverberation you tend to 'feel' powerful emotion, but that results from the sheer force of massive sound from a large group. Here it is just one (small) person at a single instrument who accomplishes a spiritual transport) Truly wonderful
+David James Yes - long final chords, Gert likes to hold such a chord for a long time. It is so very effective and demonstrates his marvellous confidence in what he is doing. He holds it - and holds it - then suddenly pulls away from the keyboard with a dramatic flourish. I think that is the word - he likes this kind of piece to be dramatic. A great musician who gives the gift of joy.
@@Bouncybon Agree with your implication. A lesser performer might 'decide' to be impressive or 'unique' in performance - but would come across as just looking flamboyant or affected. Gert is truly - naturally virtuosic. His performance produces and imparts subtle, impressive nuances because he is Masterful inherently.
Nice shoes on this one. Would love to see you play in wooden shoes sometime!!! You are just wonderful!! Keep up the beautiful music on the King of Instruments.
If we just spend as much time proselyting kids performances as we did sports, It would be a better world. Danke Gert

the smiles of these two friends at the end conclusion are magnificent -- as great as the music!
Geweldige compositie, magistraal uitgevoerd!
It is a pleasure to watch a young and talented player as Gert ^^
I hope he'll be able to come to Croatia one day and do a concert ^^
Sound of heaven.

Wauw!!
Richtig toll. Mächtiges Werk. Raumfüllende Alkkorde. Die Orgel gibt alles. Gert auch.
For the newcomers, Gert didn't start playing until he was 14! Other pieces on RUclips at that age are inspiring !
What a Great Success you are, Gert ! Wow !!
Nagyszerű mesteri előadás !!!
