There are a few contributing factors to the distortion you are hearing. These speakers are best used as mid/tweeter. They are not designed to play low bass at high volumes. To get a more accurate idea of the overall sound quality they should be crossed over in the area of 60-100Hz. If your headunit has a built in crossover, it should be used on them. They will play and sound better than what you have heard of them so far. Another fun video guys, Happy belated birthday!
Ive experienced these as well. The basket it too shallow to get a lot of cone movement and the spiders are SLIGHTLY to stiff. They do much better with an amp and crossed at 250hz.

I agree with the others. They probably need to be connected to an amp with the high pass filter turned on and most all bass crossed over. These playing only mid and high notes paired with the Jensen sub would probably sound really good.
100% you ran those wrong. You need to deaden your door and install a set of Fast Rings. You can’t just slap in a set of door speakers and expect them to perform. You have resonance to deal with and usually without something like Fast Rings or NVX door baffles you lose half of your sound between the door and door panels. And I just noticed you have 2 screws holding the driver in. Noooo Bueno 😂

When it comes to speakers most ppl always look at the wattages, but there's more to it than just that. You gotta make sure the impedances match also or else you risk damaging the amp, but one thing most ppl overlook is the efficiency ratings. The higher the efficiency the better bc the higher it is the louder it will play with limited power. Once you amp them up those speakers will play drastically better plus when it comes to the bass most speakers like this are designed only to play your mids and highs and work best with a sub.

Imo people think of wattage backwards you want higher wattage if you're using am amp if not you want lower wattage I'm learning so much I wish I knew when I was younger everything is advertising and misleading.
