    There is a filter made for those buddy heaters if you put them on a large tank. Might help them last longer. Hope it helps. Thanks for all the videos. You are a go to for so many people who fish.

    Diesel heater is a good alternative to a buddy heater. No fumes the main components are outside the shelter leaving more room inside

    Awesome setup I’ve been ice fishing with snowmobiles for a long time now. One thing I’ve learned is to haul them in an enclosed trailer or else it leads to clutch problems. They rust and then they start sticking

    I fish remote lake trout in Northern MN and Ontario. I've pulled Big Buddy heaters in my Otter Lodges for over 15,000 miles. I use a filter on my heaters and have not had problem one with either of my heaters. Both of my heaters are from early 2000. Still running strong and just bought two more.

    Tom, I noticed when you were talking about your Buddy Heaters that there wasn't a filter on your LP line. Everything I've seen about using a 20# tank with those heaters they recommend the in-line filters. That may be the reason for your issues. Keep the good stuff coming.

    I agree with you 100% on the heater thing. After this many years you would think there would be more competition in the ice fishing heater market, give Mr heater a run for their money. Overall coming out with some better options at this point. I think you have the wrong hose on your heater there, you either need the Mr heater model #F273704, which is a 10' hose that according to them does not require a filter, or you can run your shorter hose with a filter. I now have 2 of these longer hoses and haven't had issues yet. But I now carry a big buddy and the normal buddy heater, with 2 propane tanks and 2 hoses, basically 2 full setups because I have had issues with heaters in the past and days on the ice ruined because of heater failures.

    I run with an atv bcuz I use it for hunting purposes as well. I got a carrier rack for the back and put a plywood sheet on top with 3 holes. 2 for 6 gallon buckets and 1 for minnow bucket. I then have a backseat box for some gear and put the auger on the front with kolpin grip mounts. The only thing I still need is a way to mount my finder to the atv but I previously had used my phone on a handlebar mount for motorcycles and had the map up on that. Being in Southern WI we don't have ice long enough for me to justify the sled over the atv and can't swing owning both.

    I bought 3 Elliott rods the 45" 42 and 44 and the 2B rod bag. The issue I have is with the butt of the rod being so long I have to push the piscifun carbon x 1000 past the tube and the line is tight against the pvc. Also with a bait on the keeper it is easy to get a hook in the material by the zipper since it is higher than the butt of the rod.

I wanted to add those hitch pivot bars, but then the toboggan would not fit into my shortbox truck. I'm stuck putting the hitch on and off every time.

    I dont know if it helps but buddy heaters offer 2 different style hoses not just length but material as well sometimes if you use the one length hose they recommend the filter and if you use the other hose you dont need the filter because the hose was a better quality and the better quality was the 10' hose

    Tom, I'm in the market for a rod locker. I've checked styles like a rifle case or the scheels 2.0 but don't like how bulky (wide) they are. I see you are running the 2b Ice XL, I like the case but cant figure out how it fits the 4th rod. Are there any videos out there or do you have any good pictures of how the rods lay in the case? Is the 4th rod / reel stacked on the bottom layer of 3? That's all I can figure out. Thanks for the help! Keep up the great content!

    I have an ice question for my fellow anglers. Here in ND we had 10 inches of ice last weekend, this week with all the snow and low 30's and high 20's temperatures, Im not sure if the ice was weakened this this week. In general, would a week of almost two feet of snow and temps like that weaken the ice or in general would it stay the same. Any input or opinions would be appreciated, thanks!

      @@TomBoley Carrying them flat is harder on the ceramic burner, as they don't have much strength that way. Same reason you don't haul glass or granite slabs flat. I haul mine upright and have never broken one. Also, the internal gas tube is conformed in a way to form a sediment trap. Hauling them on their side could allow any sediment buildup to possibly make it past the trap.

    • @TomBoley

      Otter seems to be the toughest. And I tend to test gear pretty hard haha

    • @mooman357
      @mooman357 Год назад

      As a person who has fished in both, (not sponsored, not even by the wife) the Otter's tend to be build better and have features that Eskimo just doesn't have. I do run a 949i, and it is enjoyable. But after sitting in a otter and seeing the little pockets, hangers, even the bag to carry the pop up, it's much easier.

    • @chrisschlosser4536
      @chrisschlosser4536 Год назад

      No argument that Otter's are built better in general, but I will say after owning the otter lodge and the escape 2800 which are both modded, I do find myself bringing the escape along most days. I love that the skirt goes all the way around back side of sled and I do like the chairs better.
