This is the first video on this I've seen that doesn't cause the magenta bugs in the virtual cockpit to get passed through, so thank you very much for showing a different color that works better.
I got this to work in no time! Thanks so much for the tutorial. SOOOOOOOO much more stable & repeatable than SimXR. I have my center button set to spacebar, so my VR cockpit and my OpenKneeboard center at the same time, with one keystroke. FANTASTIC!
MY MAN… this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I bought SimXR, and found it super cumbersome, and worst of all, not persistent. Giving this a try with the 1:1 scale panel I built for the Piper Arrow III.
Thanks for the positive comment. The links are in the description but you need to click on the "more" link when the description is folder to open the description fully. I'm assuming this is why you can't see the links. Let me know. RG
Hello! Thanks for a great Mixed Reality video! What size is the touch screen you are using. If built into the cockpit panel, what size do you recommend? Is there a particular manufacturer you recommend?
That's great. But still if you notice it still hasn't aligned completely up until the right of the cockpit. Can you please also suggest a fix for that. Thank you and very nice work! Appreciated
Great video! I see you output instrument gauges to ipads. Have you tried MFDs in MR? I also use OpenKneeboard and VD for passthrough in DCS and they work great. In MSFS, if I pop out MFDs and drag to second monitor, they only work in 2D. In VR, they freeze and don't move for maps, artificial horizon etc. for several aircrafts that I tried.
I'm glad you liked the video. I'm using a very simple setup. Basically it's the Logitech G Yoke (www.amazon.ca/Logitech-Pro-Flight-Yoke-System/dp/B07QXMTNPB)and the Logitech G Rudder Pedals (www.amazon.ca/Logitech-Pro-Flight-Rudder-Pedals/dp/B07R21FJD8). I also invested in a very basic stand... www.amazon.ca/Adjustable-Steering-Logitech-Fanatech-Simulator/dp/B08CD7W9KV I also designed and 3D printed a few parts to make everything work together.
great video, love the new passthrough tech. My problem is I have realsimgear instruments and when I pop out a instrument panel in msfs and start VR the panel freezes. This is a known bug for at least two years. Do you know of any work arounds or fixes for this?
I wish I could give you a solution. I have exactly the same problem. I looked high and low for a work around but there is none as far as I can tell. This is a bug that ASOBO doesn't seem to care about or want to fix. Apparently it did work at some point but then there was an update that broke it. :(
great vid. If you are just after a simple template use Windows own MSPaint. Draw your shape eg Square tool. Select your colour with Edit Colours enter 255,0,255 select Fill tool to fill it with this colour. Select Crop to trim the edges and save it as a .png file.
I don't know if it'll work with the Pimax...I'm not sure the Pimax has the equivalent to Virtual Desktop (which is needed) to achieve the passthrough effect. Also, I'm not sure what kind of passthrough in general is available with the Pimax. Unfortunately I don't have access to the Pimax to figure it out. I hope you find a solution. RG
@CreatewithTech Thank you for getting back to me. Does the sim look nice in the Oculus? Also would thus work with the 2024 version on the sim. Thanks again
@@DWModels Yes, in my opinion the SIM looks great in the Oculus...of course the Pimax has a bigger field of view but in my opinion the Quest 3 looks amazing. I must say though that I haven't seen what it looks like in the Pimax so I can only speculate. As far as the 2024 version I haven't installed it yet. As you probably know the release was a bit of a fiasco so I'm waiting for things to settle down a bit before I buy it. But as far as I understand it should work fine in the 2024 version. RG
Hi, I have a question, When I imported the SVG file in Inkscape an unremovable black outline shows up. Instead of the whole same color. I can't see why this is. Can you, or someone give me advice?
Not at all. In my opinion this is a perfect solution for a passthrough and works really well. There is no stuttering or reduced frames unlike Reality Mixer which needs Steam VR.
Why has nobody created a simple method that you just draw where you want mixed reality much like you do with the vr handset when you create boundaries. The current methods are so bad. I spent hours trying to get it even half right and finally gave up! It is such a pain and where I have a full cockpit CRJ it never would get angles correct and trying to go back and forth to make tiny adjustments would take so much time it would make no sense. VR is nowhere near where we need it for those building full cockpit sims.
There is another MSFS app that sort of works that way, better than this at least, but it's just as much of a nightmare to use and it gets reset constantly due to MSFS bugs so you have to set them up all over again almost every time
Finally someone who actually shows how it’s done thank you so much.

Just tried this, works perfectly with zero noticed load. Much better then anything else out there.

Absolutely great tutorial! Thank you so much!!!
excellent video tutorial. Thank you very much.
Thank you. Great explanation
Maybe its me, I dont see the links you mention in the comments. Am I missing them somehow? Great video BTW, very detailed but not overly detailed!

Gracias por enseñar esta gran herramienta. Buen Tutorial

Thank you for the video 👍😊. May I ask what sim rig you use and what you think to it? Thinking of getting one 😊

@@CreatewithTech oh, what a bummer. I was thinking about buying a realsimgear gps and use it with this program 😔

Great tutorial!
I was wondering why you traced the entire panel and then didn’t scale it to match the sim cockpit?
Don't need to. The scaling is done in OpenKneeBoard...
Very informative. Thank you so much. 👍 Is it possible to use a photo of one's actual cockpit to make a pass through and put that through FreeCad?
Yes, absolutey. I mention this early on in the video. Thanks! RG
@CreatewithTech I must have missed that, my bad. Sorry.
Hi, I have a question,
When I imported the SVG file in Inkscape an unremovable black outline shows up. Instead of the whole same color.
I can't see why this is.
Can you, or someone give me advice?
Thanks for the video. Did you notice any degradation in GPU/CPU performance when employing this solution?
Not at all. In my opinion this is a perfect solution for a passthrough and works really well. There is no stuttering or reduced frames unlike Reality Mixer which needs Steam VR.
Great Video 👍
To be transparent, you do need Virtual Desktop which is not free. That said I can't imagine anyone flying in VR with MSFS doesn't already have it.
This is true. I should have been clearer on this. Thanks! RG
