I'm a Sony Shooter and never understood why people talked about "Fuji Color" until I purchased a x100v. There's something magical about this little beast, film sims, film recipes, SOOC, easy snaps in Aperture Priority, built in ND filter, built in flash. My Sony is ready to serve me with divorce docs because I haven't touched her for a good 4 months. X100v simplicity and grab and go size its where it's at.

Loved this video, man! I did a video a few months back about how I fully switched from Canon to Fuji, and I totally get the feelings you're having. I now own three Fuji cameras, and of the collection, the X100V is hands down my favorite one. I gravitate to Fuji for pretty much the points you explained in this video -- the colors, the film simulations, as well as the old school body designs. It just inspires me to get out there and take photos, and that's an incredible thing.

The x100v is the first Fuji camera I've ever used. It's my favorite. I like the experience of shooting film but I hate paying the development costs. The x100v is is a great middle ground. I take it everywhere with me. Even when I'm shooting for my clients it doesn't feel like work. One lens is great because like you said, it makes you much more creative. I like editing pictures but I love crafting a recipe and just leaning into that look while I shoot instead of editing the look in post.

I shoot Canon professionally, but use my x100v for most of my personal stuff. Love the feel and connection I have with it! The focus system is a bit annoying, but I try to shoot at like f5.6-f8 as much as possible, so focus isnt as much of an issue.

Exclusively shoot with Fuji. I made the jump from Canon and find it’s perfect for what I do. I do a lot of lifestyle, branding, concert, and portraits. It’s so easy to pick up my gear and know exactly what the photos will look like later. I also feel like they’re fairly priced for the quality you get.

I’ve owned the X100V for around a year now, initially thought maybe I’d made a mistake with a fixed lens camera mainly using a Canon 5D3, but the more I use it, the more I love it, getting into street and architecture, totally agree with it being a great way to experience a fresh approach to shooting, making you more focussed to capturing why you want. Produces great results, superb black and white work too. Highly recommend it.

I used to shoot on Canon cameras (5D’s) for 15 years whilst still shooting film occasionally. Then I switched to Sony for work, bought a Contax G2 for street photography/snapshots etc and got so overwhelmed with scanning and getting film developed - i just don’t have the time for that anymore. I picked up my Fuji x100v yesterday and I can’t wait to finally get back into shooting daily pics. I'm in a similar space. However, I decided to invest in a Leica Q2 instead of the X100V.
100% agreed with your viewpoints. Sometimes having a smaller and more restrictive kit can be more creatively freeing. It also makes you more critical with your shots, and more focused on the present moment, instead of thinking of how to construct the moment.
Would love to see more videos on this subject and of course your thoughts on the X100V.

Fuji guy here.....LOVE my X100V for all the reasons you mentioned....fixed focal length is a limitation that creates inspiration (check out Alan Schaller talking about that exact phrase)....the "recipes" that are out there for FUJI are amazing too....great to just have them saved in the camera and you can call one or more up depending on whatever is facing you/driving you at the moment....I've been a musician for 40 years and the key to a great instrument is that you don't have to fight it....it just feels great and allows you to express yourself with the least amount of effort or technical adjustment....this is the mark of a great camera, too! it's a tool that can be as simple or as complex as you want/need it to be....that's one of the (few, in my opinion) benefits of the digital age......

I love my Fuji X-T3. People talk about the X100V a lot but I think I'd miss the ergonomics (I do a lot of landscape stuff and it's very convenient to be able to just do mostly one handed operation, no menu diving, with gloves on in inclement weather), and I feel like if I just pop on my 27mm F2.8 pancake and leave the other lenses at home, I'm still getting that fixed focal length experience when I want it, while still having other options when I need them. Both are great cameras though, can't go wrong. Loved all your photos.

I was looking for something to replace them and a friend suggested I try the X-T3 so I bought one second hand and immediately fell in love. It made me want to shoot more personally as well as professionally. As soon as the X-T4 was released I bought one of those and I've been using them both ever since. They're just insanely good. And I really was drawn to the colors of the Fuji. About a year or so later I saw some images on Speedhunters with similar color and sure enough, it was an X100 model. Man manz, welcome to the addictive world that is Fujifilm. I've been shooting Fujifilm for the past 5 years. I do have other kits, Leica and LUMIX as well. I'm not an X100v shooter though. It's the same reason I shoot the Leica M240 and not the Leica Q2. For my style of shooting, I require an interchangeable lens camera so my weapon of choice is the X-Pro3. I shoot it the same way I shoot my Lecia M240, with manual focus M mount lenses. They're small, lightweight, and get the job down from a photography standpoint.
If and when I'm doing video that's what my LUMIX S5 is for. As for the X-Pro3, you can use that for casual or professional work. It has the same sensor as the X100v but with more capabilities, one of which is having two card slots. You can do 4K video with both cameras but again, I'm not a videographer like yourself. I use my X-Pro3 strictly for still photography. That said, since you're in ATL, I'd like to invite you to a Portrait Meetup my organisation, The Atlanta Street Photography Collective is hosting Saturday the 13th of August at Ponce City Market on the Beltline.
Check out the details on Instagram, @atl_spc, or @streetphonicz.portraits. We start at 4:30pm and end at 7:30pm. Hopefully, you and your wife can come out and shoot with us. It will be a fun time for sure. BTW, there will be PLENTY of Fujifilm shooters at this meetup.

I hear ya. I think the commonality is the quest to find a camera and process that is the least intrusive for what you are looking to create. For me, I am cursed to love a true rangefinder, and that meant dumping all my Sony gear and getting a Leica M240. It's just the right amount of info and tools and buttons to get me thinking about the shot and not settings etc. On the other side of that, I just never liked the Fuji digital sims and have been using DxO FilmPack 6 to mimic what I do in film. I just load into ACR and change to Adobe Neutral (wish I could do this straight up in FP6) and then into FP6 and throw on their REALLY excellent film sims. I agree, it's not quite as easy as having it in camera, and I'll give Fuji a nod for that, but for me, an M, ACR and FP6 with minimal tweaks is what makes me concentrate on taking good frames and not futzing with stuff. :P

Bro. Welcome to the game. I've been shooting Fuji since 2018 and never looked back. Started with the X-T2 and now I shoot with the X-T4. I live in Utah (yep, black folks are here) and capture the incredible landscapes that surround us. I also shoot protest and dabble in street photography. One of my friends has the Fuji 100v and loves shooting with it especially with his journalism background. Turned my brother on to it about a year ago for his weddings in Raleigh. Yes, Fuji is dope. There is a reason they call it the "poor man's Leica". P.S Rented the Leica Q Monochrome at Christmas when our kids were here. Great camera but not 4000 dollars better than my Fuji! Great video and I smashed your "Subscribe" button.

And yes... Im on my 4th Fuji camera. I do not have one like the one you have but now I want to get that as well. The film sims are excellent in my opinion and the fact that you the XT and XH models you can create custom simulations and there are a ton of them for specific look. I think you as a professional that deals with paying clients would benefit greatly since time is money for you and your making sure your brand sticks out and is in the minds of others....

I started with Fuji a few years ago but a coupe of years ago I let myself convince that FF was where the IQ was, so I started to buid a Sony KIT little by little. I went all the way to a Sony A7RIV (yep the 61mp one) plus some lens and after a few months I noticed that I continued to take out my X-T3 more often than the Sony. I sold almost of all my Sony gear, and now I have a X-PRO2 plus a X-T3 with 3 primes (16mm 1.4, 35mm f:2 and 56mm 1.2) and I dont even think about going back again. 24 or 26 mp is all I need plus the joy of using this kit... Its a no brainer. I also have a couple of zooms for travel. I never got used to editing Sony files. It was was a pain to get the colors that I wanted that was almost always very close to what Fuji gives us on the RAW files. I shoot RAW+JPG and I use the RAW files that I edit using Capture One (free version for Fuji). I do like the JPGs that Fuji produces, but sometimes they need that extra bit of work, and if you start to edit the RAW files on C1, you will get a lot more from the RAW than on Lightroom.

I changed from over 20 years with to Fuji around 10 years ago…. Most of my commercial work is GFX100s & XT4, but the X100V is conveniently sweet and beautiful to shoot with…. I’ve been privileged to be a Fuji Ambassador here in the UK for nearly 10 years now. Love the systems….

Purchased a second hand X100T a while back to use as an everyday camera. After using it a couple of months, found a great deal on a X100F so I bought it and sold the X100T, which was a very good camera, but I didn’t need 2 X100 cameras. So far I’m really enjoying the X100F as my everyday camera. Purchased the wide angle converter and kept it on the camera all the time until recently. I decided to go back to the 35mm equivalent focal length and keep the minimal form factor of the X100F.

Have an R5 and had x100v. Switching back and forth between the two was likes switching between Mac and Windows. The settings, dials, customizations, and buttons are different and can get frustrating if going back and forth. I used x100v for everyday shooting and R5 for studio work. Ended up selling the x100v and using the R5 with RF 50mm 1.8 as an everyday shooter - no extra lenses or bulk - has the same impact as the x100v fixed focal length. The biggest advantage x100v has is complete weather sealing with lens hood and film simulations. Film simulations can be applied in post for the R5, but it's still an extra step. I think the x100v is the perfect prosumer camera but can be redundant and frustrating if one already has a different camera system, i.e., Canon. Everybody's experience will be different, of course. This was just my experience.
