Two weeks ago my C40 went to the dealer for service (32k). I also had the charge door flap sticking, it was fixed with extra lubing by the dealer. You white car is so clean for this weather!
I never have issues with the speed of wakeup, also when I jump in the car without pre-unlocking the car is ready instantly. Also don't have issues with moisture...

Hi, just picked mine last Tuesday, and I have to say it has been an excruciating experience! What was a 6 month delivery schedule turned to 11 months, 2 of which the car was seating in the Ghent plant park. On top of the delay, when I went to pick the car I immediatly noticed two major issues: on the rear left door there is major paint issue, where it seems that there was some kind of rework on the metal surface that didn't cured properly and when painted it "sucked up" the paint. The other is with all the rear lights, they all have major condensation! It seems that it was the quality guys day off when my car was produced...
Did they fix these issues for you?
Haven't noticed the moisture issue with my C40. I would recommend to treat the rubber seals around doors and boot lid with like rubber conditioner and check that those are in place correctly.
Also havent had issues with panel gaps etc. but the on I had just a day ago was that this black triangle trim piece next to back door flew off when my gf opened the door to let our dog out. Just talked to our Volvo mechanic who told me that this is pretty regular issue and its covered under warranty.
Also ordered the new version of C40 with the upgraded battery and different engine configuration which should be delivered around July and August so lets see if some of these issues have been fixed on that version.
So, I feel like a member of the club here... Had the charging flap issue and back to the dealer it went and they adjusted some screws. Also had that buzzing noise thanks for letting me know I am not nuts. Lastly we've also had the small trim plastic triangle panels fall off in cold weather when you open the read doors. It seems the door seels freeze and hitnthe trim and pop them off.... It's back to dealership next week to get them replaced as Volvo has a new revision
Ik rij een XC40 recharge model 22. Wat mij het meeste stoort is het geruis van het panorama dak bij vocht.
Daarnaast valt mij op dat als je het achterportier opent de wielkuip enkele oneffenheden vertoond. Heel slordig.
Verder ruim 40k km gereden in het eerste jaar. Dus hij doet ook nog wel iets goeds 😊
Had our C40 for a year now, great car but build quality is poor and didn't know EV cars have different tyres, £300 to replace, so its going back to Care by Volvo. EV cars are good for day to day but longer drives to see friends and family or our IFA, are difficult. Not enough chargers and too many out of use or not up spec. Brand new charger in Rugby services, put 80% charger on and went for lunch, got back 40 mins later and it only put 60% in, not enough to get home !
Our new Hybrid arrives next week and it's not a Volvo !

Regarding the moisture in the car, if you haven't already done this check the moonroof seals and the drains. Even though the car is fairly new, it doesn't take much to clog the narrow opening or drain tube. You can check this by opening the moonroof and (carefully) pouring water into the drain hole. I don't know that the C40 has this problem but it is not an uncommon problem with other models in the U.S. (Love your Boston Red Sox hat!)
Could you be confusing the C40, which has a glass roof that does not open, with the XC40 Recharge, which has a moonroof that opens?
@@CaryInVictoria I certainly could be. I don't own either the C40 or XC40, so I probably shouldn't be commenting but I am (unfortunately) familiar with the sunroof/moonroof drain issue from two Volvos I've owned.
The C40 has a humidity sensor near the rear view mirror. I wonder if it’s broken? It’s supposed to help the HVAC system regulate cabin humidity.
Had the charge port flap issue and the slow start-up for the entertainment unit - thanks for the tip on remote unlocking! Thankfully have not noticed any of the others you report in this video. But, I did have to have the triangular plastic inserts replaced, also the seal on the A-pillar and a faulty TCAM unit which I think you report in your other video. I must say that I am disappointed with how many issues the car has. Yes, mine is also a first edition C40 twin but it is based on the XC40 Recharge so I would expect many of this wrinkles to have been ironed out. I love the car but I have reservations about recommending it to others.

This week coming I have an appointment to my retailer and I have a long list to discuss with them .
Also when I put my care on revers mode ,I could not see anything on my dashboard screen only blurry vision. Does anyone had same problem please

Great! Mine has been adjusted too, seems to cause less friction. Let's hope it keeps working. Otherwise plan B: the charging pass.. haha! Thanks for watching.
We had the same problems with damp with our xc70. It turned out that the glue fixing the upper part of the windshield had let loose and when driving with wet weather water was running down behind one of teh pillars and into teh footwell. The air in teh car was then continuously damp and then when it colled down overnightg there wasa lot of condensation. You may want to check this with your dealer.
Hi Thom, Thanks for this review. I have the same issue with the charge port door. My biggest dissapointment is that my C40 was delivered without the DAB module that I paid for (because of chip shortage). And my Volvo dealer is unable to tell me when it will be installed (after 9 months of ownership). Did you get it in yours?

I have a BMW ix3 and im considering the C40, however there does seem to be some quality issues. People talk about Tesla QC but volvo isnt much better
I have the XC40 P8 with pixel headlight
I always think the headlight angle is too high, not on high beam, no passengers or heavy loads.
Dealer said this headlight is too new for them to research on (WTF??)
Also when in OPD mode, and using Pilot Assist, when traffic almost comes to a full stop but not yet, the car would just stop and won't continue to follow.
Reversing lights ... that is my only real dislike. I recently got a 2021 XC40 Twin First Edition. I live in a very dark rural area - no street lights etc. When I try to reverse onto my drive I cannot see anything in the mirrors and the camera view is just the car surrounded with pitch black. This is worse in a place that I do not know. The reversing lights provide no useful illumination
I expect to pick up my C40 in about three weeks. After this video and your last one I'm expecting nothing but trouble. 🥴
My C40 arrives at my home address in the next hour, after waiting 9 months for it. And now I’m concerned that I’ve made the right choice 🤦🏻

@@LawrenceSamvura I considered the GV60 but in Canada it is considerably more expensive than the C40, in part because the C40 qualifies for $9,000 in government rebates whereas the GV60 qualifies for none. Aside from price, I still prefer the C40, though I understand others might prefer the GV60 or some other car.

Slow starting infotainment is possibly caused by the beta version of the Flitsmeister app. Delete that and the system start-up is faster…at least it was on my car.

I have that humming-noise issue as well, very annoying in the beginning when you spend more time fiddling around with everything without music and all you hear is that sound. I have an appointment with the dealer next week, see what they say.
I have just checked today in my Swedish dealer a newly registered (2 days ago) XC40 Twin max option produced 2022-11-15 - has the same buzzing noise from the interior lights decorations. But I have noticed that interior lights can be turned off in the Settings. Making it lower brightness does not help. So in my new car that I ordered in September and expecting next year I am going to just turn this interior light off. It is not so pretty anyway. It is just white as far as I have noticed.
@@yourobson & Thom, I talked to my dealer/mechanic today. Apparently, most full electric XC40s don't make that sound, but most C40s do. Some parts have been changed, it was not new to the dealer. Something to do with a coil or so vibrating. Volvo seems to be aware and def. wants to change it, hopefully by software - but it might be a while. So, fingers crossed. Btw, I saw many C40s on delivery at Volvo dealers in Germany these days, as production has been ramping up. Plus, german subsidies are reduced in 2023, resulting in an end-of-year-run.
I also notice the buzzing sound when driving silently with radio off on both xc40 and c40 pure electric.
Didnt know where it's coming from. You think it's the ambient led light?
Many say it's the ambient lighting (in the dashboard/doors) apparently. When I listen close it feels to also come from that. Try to turn it off and have a listen again. 😉
What is the difference with Intro Edition and the current trim levels(core, plus, ultimate)? I am looking to buy one but not sure which trim level makes sense.
Intro Edition is the full option edition, so if you want the full options model you've to choose the Ultimate version...
De genoemde problemen ervaar ik niet, ik ondervind wel problemen met snelladers, de ene keer krijg ik een fout, bij een ander station weer niet, ik krijg dan de melding FOUT. Het minste problemen ondervind ik bij de vrienden van de gele schelp. Misschien hebben andere rijders hier ook last van.
I have seen this on other reviews. For some it helped to hold the loading plug (stekker) firmly in the charge port whilst the car and charger are doing their initial "handshake'.

I do not have the issues mentioned. Although, I have to say that I do not have the fully loaded C40, but the Plus edition.
I have one slightly annoying issue: at the speed between 90-105km an hour, there is a light vibration in the steering wheel. No real problem for a short distance, but traveling for a couple of 100s km it is getting annoying. I returned the car for service twice and they could not solve this issue. Volvo dealer acknowledged the issue. They drove also the test car and this car has the same issue. I'm wondering if some of you have this issue as well?
Every time I've had this issue in different cars, it's been from new tyres not being balanced correctly, or at all.

the 2.5 OTA mentions something on it. But havent noticed a different so far I must admit...

I think so. Many people stick with Volvo, probably similar as with Audi. It’s personal taste I guess 😊
Volvo is a scam! My 2023 Volvo C40 has a steering wheel that vibrates very badly, making it quite annoying and UNSAFE to drive, and Volvo doesn’t want to fix it.
