  • On 8 July 2006 a team from the University of Toronto flew a full-sized, piloted, flapping-wing aircraft. In this entertaining lecture the project’s leader, Prof James DeLaurier, shows us the inspiration behind the project and guides us through the research, design, testing, construction and certification stages, before taking us through the events of an early morning in 2006 when a pilot flew the Ornithopter No.1, nick named “The Big Flapper”, for fourteen seconds over Bombardier’s Airfield in Toronto.
Prof James DeLaurier MRAeS addressed a meeting of the Royal Aeronautical Society on 12 September 2007. The lecture was introduced by AVM David Couzens FRAeS and the film & podcast was edited by Eur Ing Mike Stanberry FRAeS.

This is great, even if it is from 2006. So, questions:
One - Has more work been done since?
Two - From the video of the flying model, (congrats by the way), it appears to be sort of loud. I can picture a full-size aircraft overhead and hear my neighbors complaining about "noise pollution".
Three - Has a full-sized version been produced yet? (Writing on July 27, 2021).
Four - When can I go for a ride?

I find this such an incredibly valuable piece of information, especially considering that there is no publication available about this incredible feat. Is there a version of this video available on a more permanent repository, maybe with a DOI?

No mention of the Schmid Ornithopters, the best that ever flew.

Sorry, I wrote the first comments after I saw the video of the model. Super-congrats for actual flight with a pilot.
Second question: (fourth?) Has it been scaled up to carry a passenger?

You must know about Alexander Manockov (1918 - 1957) - the creator of the First in World flapping wing glider Kashuk with the pilot, which had flu many hours in 1954 - 1955 in Novosibirsk and Moskov

what if the model not look like an aircraft but more like a suit ??? ... using only wings that clap more frequent with clapping not less than every 2 second ... and the size of the wings is 2,5 times sizes human body ...
