Like Rachelle, most survivors keep their abuse a secret for many years, and most don’t talk about the abuse until adulthood. However, the trauma of child sexual abuse often affects survivors long after the abuse has stopped. In fact, survivors often spend years, or even decades, trying to overcome the trauma symptoms that arise as they carry the weight of the abuse. Rachelle and her son had the opportunity to address those trauma effects together and come out stronger on the other side.
