After watching the ad in the middle of the build, it honestly confused me how well done it was. Not many people are going to appreciate and ad in their video, let alone admire it, but the editing cannot be ignored. An easy slide into the sponsor with the build itself, by using the mini in the sponsor. On the right, there is info about the sponsorship and it scrolls at a great pace to give enough visual info but still manages to not take up too much time for each segment. On the left is a real-time video of you working, which might just seem like a clip of the overall video, but is so much more. The steady pace of the info slide fits perfectly with the steady time he is taking with the build might be what comes to mind when thinking about for a few moments, but the fact that it isn’t edited or sped up doesn’t draw out any attention to itself. It gives the ad more priority while still satisfying the building aspect of the video. And it works even better when it fades into a small video highlighting the minis because it’s still holding on to the main build by using a mini that was in the build in the first place. Not to mention his voice fits perfectly with the sponsorship and outlining key elements of the new/topical project that alines even better with the build. It’s so well mixed, the editing is top notch, y’all are sleeping 100%

This project came out incredible! The so-called "discoloration" in the gold paint job, thematically, could just be a spot where the surface gold has started to cool and/or something has fallen in. From what I've experienced, molten metal has all kinds of swirls where the temperature is slightly different, from impurities falling in, etc.

    • @Glaswalker1001
      @Glaswalker1001 4 года назад +1

But molten gold glows yellow to white.

    • @smolderbreath3238

Also it's in a jungle setting so having weird murky water pools on top of the cooled gold would also make sense.

You could make the snake on it an NPC that is using an illusion to make it's tail look like a pool of gold in an attempt to lure would be looters into their doom. Obviously would need more fleshing out but just a thought. Thanks for another great video.

At 11:40 you pour on watered down mod podge, if you give it a quick spray of watered down alcohol first (I have a bottle of 70% isopropanol mixed with water), the watered down mod podge/pva soaks right through instead of pooling on top. Gives a super solid result once dry and gives less of a mess while pouring. Beautiful build as always!

Hey Jeremy, I've been watching your videos for about a year but haven't really commented. I want to thank you for making great videos, but also for much more than that. I'm a complete amateur to crafting. I have no background in art or design. Your videos have helped me to become much more confident in my abilities. While you have given my tons of awesome ideas, the biggest takeaway I've had is that it's alright to mess up. Surfing through Reddit and other places people can be extremely negative or quick to jump to reasons why a paint job or craft is subpar. I'm pretty sensitive to that kind of criticism, especially since I already know my art is pretty beginner-level. Seeing you mess up has been SO helpful to me. I know it sounds weird, but your willingness to admit a mistake without getting down on yourself or hiding it really encourages me to work through my mistakes rather than scrapping them immediately. Beyond that, your "good enough" attitude to crafting has really helped me to calm down and be more accepting. My painting or creating doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be good enough. The best creators are not always the best teachers, but you manage to be an amazing creator and a great teacher. Your humility and sense of fun is what inspired me to start crafting more than any video of an impressive painting ever could. I know it's random to bring up in this video, but I wanted to say it and your statement about painting to impress the average person brought up some of these thoughts and I figured that if I mentioned it on a more recent video it would be less random. Long story short: thank you.

I'm doing an "armored fighter vs dragon" diorama that will be contained within a fake, 9 1/8" × 13 1/2" "hollowed out spell-book" once it's all done.
I know I'm not re-inventing the wheel, but it's been a few years since I've taken on this size of a project-- so, I'm a bit "shaky" on getting started again.
Been watching a good portion of your videos since I discovered them, and it's helped a LOT... I love your "down and dirty" style that never the less nets incredible results...
I had a best friend in high school (sadly passed on now) who use to work like that, and I managed to learn a lot from him-- and build my own style off of that...
With him no longer around, I've been looking all over for a concept I can adapt/use as a template for my own ideas, and to "get my feet wet" again... And I think your badass "Snake Temple" is perfect...

Bert from dark matter workshop sometimes paints on the resin and the effect is awesome without making the resin to thick. Great build

Great build. Definitely looks like bubbles coming to the surface. Except my ? Is about Gerard Boom. I missed his kick starter and really want the book. You really got me back into terrain building. I've always used cardboard and styrene. But you really got me loving foam. So much more I could never do with another material.

This is exactly what i need in my life right now! I've stumbled upon a really nice seraphon/lizardmen army and i love to build terrain. So this is right op my alley.

A misterious expedition to the heart of the jungle to find gold you say?! Awesome idea! for some more inspiration for back stories you could look up the stories about Eldorado, men going into the Amazone jungle in search of gold really happened a lot during the 15th till 19th century.

Love it! The gold is actually looking better this way rather than clean and perfectly applied. It adds some randomness.

Have you thought of using rough magnets in a plastic tub to make sorting your bricks from your stones easier?

This looks so sick. I do agree that this, while cool, is one of those "I may use this once and then never again" pieces. To combat this, you could probably sacrifice a tiny amount of "looks" for increased playability by not attaching the mini to the pool and instead just leave that as an interchangeable option. Need a overgrown jungle snake god worshippers fountain? Big snake statue mini. Fountain of youth? Maybe some kind of angelic statue mini. Just a random pool of water in a dungeon? No mini I guess? The options would then become limitless. Not that this project needs any improvement, Its already super sick as is. Thanks for the amazing content!

Thought about it, but a jungle fountain full of liquid gold isn’t much more versatile without the snake so I figured might as well tie it right in.

@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial That is true. Thats when DMs law would come into play. "I know that the terrain piece has liquid gold in it, but I SAID that it was full of crystal clear water. I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE REPAINTING IT, GERALD!" lol.
