The wagon wheels are from 2 seperate wagons and different decades too. The wooden one is like pioneer wagon type. The metal one was probably from farm machinery.
Growing up on an Indiana homestead farm that has been in the family for well over 150 years, we had many old pieces like those. Old 1 and 2 bottom plows had wheels similar to that metal wheel.
You had several great finds and the excitement on Houston's face was priceless! Such sweet memories that you will share for many years.
The metal wheel could also be from an old metal hay rake.
@@mbusch76 yes it was from a light weight piece of equipment, too small for any rigorous work, too small for a light buggy wheel, that is a very fine hub size and would not have been able to haul enough weight to go far. Local use on a farm or on a barrow is about all it could be. A hay rake had several sizes to it for running gear but it never would have held even a plow weight since it would have ben tore up too quick. The flat rim tells me that it was before they started using rubber tire cuz the rubber ones were cupped to hold the tire.
plow tires had wider rims at the very least. Most of mine are one horse size and are heavier than that just because of rocks.
It might be off a horse drawn corn cultivator.
What you're doing is why I homeschooled my kids. It counts as history and science. 😊
P.e, geography, good fun, this lad is blessed
Dinner he brought a fishing pole !
Natures classroom is always the best way to learn.
Mulberry trees grow wild in this part of Texas. You eat them when they become dark purple. They make great jams syrup and wine. 😅 If you'll take some of the right ones to your place they will grow you can take some cuttings off those trees. Mulberries are easy to start and they are well worth it. We have five good size ones and several young ones thanks to the birds.👍🤠
The first wagon wheels were made of wood. My hubby jokingly said maybe it was a wheel to a cannon. If the civil war was fought in your area 🤷♀️ We found an old button of an old army military shirt once when we went to a local lake. You could see the old houses foundations when the lake was low, that had been under the water for decades. Another old time neighborhood was flooded to make a man-made reservoir. It was my great aunt's little lane of farm homes and where a john wayne movie was made in the hills across from her home. Just to make a recreational lake and camp ground. They weren't given a choice to not sell... Every time we go by Jordanelle Reservoir all I can think of is my aunt's house taken from her. I've only been to that lake once maybe twice since its was made and I felt guilty. My mom was pretty much raised by that aunt and that was her home too. Just a little house with a little creek in the front yard. I can only imagine what could have metal detected. "Progress" sucks sometimes!
They are a little far west for the Civil War, but they are on a feeder route to the Chisolm Trail. Likely a chuck wagon or other heavy support cart.
Cannon wheels would have been taller unless it was a real small one you might have sat with at the top of a small hilltop, the really small cannons were carried by several men and sat on the ground and were short nosed and fat. Civil war ones would have been taller and most were metal by then because the industrial revolution was happening and they had foundries, I know guys who built the wheels and pour the cannons too. I can do wheels but am not a foundry But by the civil war it was metal and wood with a metal rim. The big heavy cannons were still wood at first but they soon changed over to a combo and many had the metal hubs too. They were in the middle of huge changes then, Take it to a local wheelwright or a blacksmith and they can help you fine tune it. Depends also wether it was Yankee or southern ones who had it for the latest and greatest LOL.
a lot of stuff went west right after the civil war ended so that time period still works
❤
My maiden name was Perkins 😊
I believe Bella's spirit lives on in Kelce. She loves the water and going to the creek with you. I thought of that and just wanted to share that with you. God bless you all 💕
❤
You can start decorating your barn walls with your creek finds.
Absolutely!
What cool finds! These are memories that Houston will never forget.
Just seems fitting that he has on a Bella shirt while they are at the creek ❤❤❤
Yes, her favorite place.
I love Houston every time danle shows that smart and intelligent little boy it makes me happy to see the things he's doing at his age i wish I've was 11 years old again 😢
⚠️‼️That fossil Huston found is a trilobite! Great find love the videos❤❤
Houston that shell casing looks like a 32 cal. rimfire.
Houston, it was so good to see your baptismal on Sunday!
God has given you something that others have wished they have had .., you have been blessed for you're endeavors of life ... .
I found a wagon wheel with my metal detector 5 years ago. I metal detect all over the state and have been for 6 years
Ok I will pray 🙏
Great to see you and Huston having quality father and son time , it’s amazing finding historical artefacts and great Huston showing interest in fossils and the countries past , as you said every item could tell a story , you just wonder if the waggon got stuck crossing the creek . You wonder what other items are just under the surface . Great video as always. Take care and stay safe 👍
What an AWESOME day for making memories with Houston!! Something neither of you will forget!! Wagon wheel & hub is really COOL & a natural spring!! Not to mention all the fur babies having a great time too!!! God Bless Arms Family Homestead
My Grandmother had a mulberry tree in her backyard. One year we dyed our Keds purple with the fallen one 😊
Huston was so excited when you found that wheel.
The dog helping to dig out the wheel…priceless great times with you and Houston!
You know there is more stuff around there just depends how much effort you want to put in to looking
Garrett is the best brand name for metal detectors.
PS-cartridge is copper. U can tell by the green patina. Talked to hubby about this (as he’s a retired safety handgun & hunting instructor, Reenactment cowboy in Saskatchewan, Canada) says that copper bullet casing are from around the late 1870’s (quickly terminated, so copper casings are rare) and were used in the battle of Little Big Horn. They tried copper casings, they found the copper was far too soft to extract from the Springfield single shot trap door carbine (rifle).
That is so cool a wagon wheel. My uncle found an old rifle on a creek. When I was 12. It was dated back to 1881. It was a lever action.
That a great boat! My husband’s buddy had one- but we lived on the gulf and that wasn’t the greatest ride on the gulf. We now live in Alabama on rivers now and that would be a great boat now. Husband and I still have our bow rider that we had living on the gulf to go scalloping. I love to fish- hubby is happy baiting my hook with a beer in hand. 😀 so I’m on the market for a river boat! When we moved from Florida I told my hubby I want to be able to hunt and fish on my own property. Cuz I like that stuff too- but we have livestock and someone had to stay home and that was me. I got three bucks on the wall and a bass. I have a 10 acre pond. So im close to Demopolis in Alabama. I’d love to meet more folk like us!
I had a purple mouth every season our neighborhood mulberry tree was bearing fruit. I loved them.
Houston loves his adventures with his dad ❤ sweet
Very cool find! Could have been an old homestead on the creek a hundred years ago.
I found that the inside of the river bends is where most treasures are deposited
She is
Having so much fun in that water
Reminds me of Bella.
Still praying for your town and all of your friend who loss everything in the tornado and we love yall to and have good today and love yall video and enjoy your video
That wagon wheel is newer that the other hub.
Guy that bought your boat lives in my area. Hour from the coast near Mississippi. That's where I live😊
Take the wagon wheel home n let dj use it in the flower bed. Decoration
That wheel will make a great yard decorations
I bet you can also find a LOT of flint artifacts (arrow heads, flint knives, possibly other stone tools) in the streams/rivers around there. Metal detectors won't help with that but as you find a few your eyes will get tuned to "see" them fairly easily.
Kelsey is a Wild Child and Gemma is so tolerant! This type of outting- looking for old stuff, cool rocks, fossils is one of this old grammas favorite things to do!
Ohhhh my, Kelsey going to obedience camp for WEEKS? Wow, that’s gonna be tough.
The smallest fossil is also a trilobite. The other is a horn coral fossil I think. I have a sedimentary rock full of holes. I was told by my professor that the holes were made by little shellfish who ate the calcium out of the rock to form their shells. When I looked with a magnifying glass There were tiny little shells stuck in some of the holes. they ate too much and got too big to get back out. That is just one of the ways that holes form. Hi, I am from New Brunswick, Canada. I am not an expert it is just one of my passions.
** sorry long post ** Gr8t for jam or jelly - or a bowl with cream. Kelce is like who to play with. It's cool when Bella is with you at the creek - via tee shirt. Out hunting we went to a rock pit I found lots of rocks with what looked like fossils. Two of the rocks had shells. The bigger one had a small shell - while the other was limestone with a nice shell in it. Seriously this one looks like a leaf or fern. It could be some invertebrate. Maybe put the fossils in a shadow box to keep them safe. Dang, should have a shovel. There could be an old settlement along the river bank. This would be cool to hang - then 2 plants on the front side. It is water that is clear for sure. This is Learning 101 fresh as it gets. This is what some classes should be doing. A very large pontoon boat with a top to enjoy sitting or laying in the sun. Have a propane BBQ for fish or other foods. Small fridge for drinks and some food. Is there another place for farms/homesteads loss? Love Bear. Is the metal detector for in the water? Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing, eh :))
Very cool finds! A wheel and hub could be from anywhere, but it could also be possible that someone used the wheel and hub as a water paddle wheel for some purpose like pumping that spring water to a different location. Wind mills and water wheels used to be a lot more common.
And those mulberries are good. But take one and spread the little seep pods apart and you'll probably see little bugs running around in the berry. But that never stopped us kids from eating them by the handful, we just thought it was funny.
That's an implement wheel, rake, plow, sickel mower from the 20'sn30's.
I'm glad you read the messages
This was a super episode!!! God bless you and your family!!!
I love history and my ancestors settled USA in 1770s. I am Irish but fascinated by their adventures in the new lands. Well done to you both.
Beautiful creek very calming feeling😊 wow, could you only imagine who was in that wagon and lost that probably going through the creek at the time or close by that history on that hub would be so very interesting to go back in time and see the settlers that would cross that creep back in the day wow but see Daniel you can dig that’s why it’s called treasure looking for treasures because you could look for years and find junk and then all of a sudden one time you find a big treasure that’s what’s so cool about see you found a treasure the wheel that is beautiful water where is that water coming from?
Good evening from Syracuse NY brother and everyone else thank you for sharing your adventures and your farm
Boy Kelce is going to have a rude awakening when she goes to the dog trainer. She has so much energy. When we had our German Shorthair I do not remember her having that much energy. Thank goodness. LOL. You and Houston found a lot of neat stuff metal detecting. So much fun too. And Interesting too.
Dad and son making memories. How cool!! ❤ Kelce fits right in.
Flounder gigging would be awesome. Still sending love and prayers for sulfur
So awesome on your fines out of the creek.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
4:05 Houston... it is such a joy to watch your new pup, Kelce, running and loving every split second of it !!!! AND the joy these videos will bring you when you're all grown up an living the adult life ahead can't be overstated.
That's just fun and treasures of memories as well physical treasures.
Happy Mothers Day DeJay.
I love Kelce. She makes me smile in every video.
Wet weather spring is called run off! Might not be as clean as u think. Most I ever found with metal detector was a 5,000 ring. However my wife lost it 10 yrs earlier and a friend had a detector and I found it 10 yrs later.
I've had mulberries in my backyard all my life. Mom says, "Don't eat the mulberries before dinner" we'd all come in with black mouths. Lol. The best Berry I've ever eaten! ❤️ God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister 🙏🏻 ☦️ ❤️
I don't know about Oklahoma, but in California, the deer absolutely love mulberry leaves. I found this out in the fall when my yard was covered in leaves from our mulberry trees. After dinner, I looked outside, and there were several deer munching on the leaves like they were candy. It wouldn't be a bad idea to plant some mulberry trees out in your favorite deer fields
Father in Heaven please protect those families that are being evacuated and pray they don’t loose everything.
I have a Mulberry tree! But between the chickens and the squirrels, I'm lucky to get a taste.
They make netting meant to go over trees if I remember right.
I bet you could fix some to only cover part of the tree if it's a big tree.
Probably not worth the work to you though.
❤ I LOVE THAT HOUSTON BROUGHT HIS FISHING POLE! ❤
The story's Huston is going to tell his children and grandchildren. You all truly live in a beautiful place.
You should have a garbage bag with you for the trash. Find it and get it off your land. It'll make you, your kids and animals on your land safe and happy. God Bless you all!!!
Yes! I cringed when he dropped that barbed wire back down on the ground with all the dogs running around!
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO DANIEL. AND. HOUSTON 😊
You made someone smile, Daniel
Congratulations of finding that wagon wheel as what a find and can see that going up on the trophy wall.
Bet that will be a well used tool and bring some work tools.
Super proud of you both.
Yes sir it’s the hub of a wagon wheel for sure
It's awesome to learn things like this being out in nature is always better then a class room
Its been a long minute since I watched an entire video but today was the day!
Hey Daniel at least you still have the Pontoon boat
That looks like an old buggy wheel
Great to see Earl & Gemma! Houston you should look for old bottles wading through the creeks. Old bottles are highly collectible! The wagon could’ve broke down crossing creek. So many possible scenarios!🇺🇸💖😢
Hope you had a fantastic MOTHERS day DeeJay. Great finds today Daniel and Houston, these were awesome.
Keep looking around that spring area... camp was probably close to that fresh water source..?? Or an old Homestead..
Kelsey running back and forth is fun! She has grown so much
Love the wagon wheel
Your videos I feel sure make somebody smile daily. God bless you and your family.
Daniel, you and Houston had a fun learning experience together 😊 As for the boat at least it will be used and enjoyed more than you were recently 😊❤
My Vet has me give my GSP 2-1/2 Trazodone before I bring him into the office. He's like 5 years old and still bouncing off the walls. It's just me and him and I love it.
Rachel on Hidden Heights Farm lost her wedding ring. Maybe you could take your metal detector over to their farm and help her find it. ❤
They aren't very expensive. She could buy her own metal detector and look for her own ring on her own time.
@@DianaStuckertthe one Daniel was using costs around 600 dollars.
Hidden Heights Farm is a long drive from AFH.
Love the innocence of his expression! How exciting!
It makes me happy to see him happy
😅Thank You Daniel and I hope DeJay had a great Mothers Day to. ❤ Weston Happy Birthday
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the animals and metal detecting
Kelsey was having a blast splashing in the water.
Awesome find! Prayers for Canada and those in danger from wildfires. Praying for all those affected by weather events.
Yeah, I thought that’s what it might have been! I lived on land that was close to Native American land in Florida and would find cool things after a heavy rain ( hurricanes usually) on our property! Good hunting y’all!! I never found anything that cool! Congratulations y’all!
Awesome!!! Again I love all your videos!! I get excited each time you provide another video!! I am watching you from Zanesville Ohio!!
That wagon wheel and hub would make the perfect flower garden decoration in front of your log cabin❤😊
You need a shovel. Evidence of an earlier civilization. The excitement is contagious. Can't wait to see what else you find.
Perhaps it was like a settlement, with that spring right there in the cold water. So many things we come up with.😂 🙏❤️
Good find, nice old wheel. Wherever you found the wooden hub, keep detecting and you may find the steel rim for it nearby.
I love how excited Houston got ❤
24:43 I love seeing the older videos. Huston grew up before our eyes.,❤️❤️❤️
it's good to see the dogs out with y'all we haven't got to see Jim in a long time missed her☺️🤠
Smoke pole bullets, knifes, lost lot more found coins
😆 🤣 the birds LOVE the mulberry !! They poo purple on your cars !! 😆 🤣 ❤
Probably a whole wagon that flooded out when they crossed the creek. Pioneers.
Praying….So glad you found the wheel!!!
❤ Those were awesome finds😊
it's great to see you and Houston at the creek finding interesting stuff as he learns a bit of history, I love the look on his face when he found a wheel. perhaps a new hobby for him. Have a good week
It's memories, Houston, will never forget.
