Hey Mark, great video. My replacement took about 2 and 1/2 hours, with much trouble and troubleshooting extending the time. The tiny ribbon connecting the thin strip at the front of the controller to the motherboard came undone, but I only found that out after I had reassembled everything. I also cracked and split in two the flight controller connections by trapping them between the top assembly and the chassis. It still seem to work though. The remote controller beeps a load on powering up, but it was to do with calibration of the controllers and gimbal direction wheel, so once that's been done in the DJI software the beeping stopped. Thanks again for the video. Incredibly helpful, and I just wish they made these things with more easily replaceable battery compartments! Love my mini 1 though!

Followed this video and was able to replace my dying RC Battery with one of the same brand with an (allegedly) higher capacity - 3400mah up from 2600mah.
A couple of steps in the video were missed at the 4:07 mark. The removal of the main front remote panel after the screws were taken out - this is simply clipped together and can be prized apart with care. Once that's off, on the long narrow PCB there's a little ribbon cable with a Lego-type connector which is glued down - this needs a little careful work to get unplugged.
Be sure to check when reassembling on the underside of the photo/video shoulder buttons there are little clear circles of plastic which push against the clicky buttons on the narrow PCB. I knocked one of these out and didn't know about it until I put it all back together and a shoulder button no longer worked. Luckily I found it on the floor and put it back in. Funny how DJI glued everything else down but not those..

how is the new replacement bnattery performin in flight usage? I'm also curious how many minutes the old battery lasted. My used controller bearely lasts 50-60 minutes of continuous usage with an android phone.

The right to repair should be mandatory with every product. I’m amazed of how difficult is this operation for the average user and it makes me sad. Great video!

Not only that, the battery should have been of better quality to last more than 18 months of light use. I've got an electric toothbrush that likely runs off a similar 18650 cell, works fine and it's about 7 years old!

Great video. The battery died on mine after 7 months, very disappointing. Bought a replacement off ebay so will be replacing mine soon.

I got a philips brush using the same battery but it is bad in a year. Warranty replacement sourced better battery and has been good so far.@@benwilliams3311

I wonder what size 18650 battery is . IE AH that way you could replace it with the highest capacity battery available. Like replace it with like a 3600 MAH battery. Take the old one apart and just replace the battery. Be nice if they just had it were you can just open a door replace the battery when its no longer any good.

5-10min with phone connected to get low battery warning is probably cell almost dead. In my case the cell seems fine because I can restart the remote and get like 30min or even more. Turns out DJI deliberately made these style of remotes hard to repair and maintain. Battery loses capacity as it ages and the remote has no easy way to recalibrate to the new capacity level. Hence it prematurely warns you about low battery and shut down. The only way to force a recalibration is to open the remote, disconnect the battery and leave it for 20min or more then reconnect. It worked for me. Cell was not bad as you can get hours out of a full charge and it is way more than flying 3 batteries from the fly more combo.
